First impression? Doujinshi.

It looks and feels like OEL doujinshi. Not that I mind, because that’s my preferred standard. ^_^

It’s very well printed, and stylish. It’s monochrome [Black and White] but that’s ok, the images are not sub-par because of this. Its magazine size, printed on nice stock with thorough clarity. The inks are just singing!

Of course, it does suffer in that it’s a ‘mixed creator’ anthology, and so some arts are better than others-and some artists in this book really stand out: Daniel Kim, whose sequential art is often inconsistent, really shines through as a pin-up illustrator...wow, he just rocks. Bory: Jesus Christ...this person’s art is just solid and sexy, it’s tailored made for BL, and this person will likely go far.

The main theme of this art book is, you guessed it, Non-Con. This theme seems to do well for Yaoi Press. While there are some romantic displays in this book, mainly Laura Carboni’s very masculine romp at the start, overall, the emphasis on most scenes, will entertain fans of ‘non-consensual’ sex [the type that’s drawn impossibly beautiful men, of course!]; lucky for me, I like this sort of thing! ((^_^)) Many of these scenes are downright hot—yet I know for certain they may go over like a lead balloon for some fans, but to each their own.

I highly recommend this book for fans of rough, lovely sex–and it’s very explicit, so no teens or 20 somethings still living with mommy; this isn’t a book you can put on your bookshelf in the hope that mom or friend might take an interest in yaoi.

Excellent art book of explicit, hard yaoi images. Unlike the cover, the interior is all black and white artwork. I didn't mind considering the price was very reasonable. Gothic settings, historical and some fantasy.
