“Museum of Masks”/Elemental Rising (Paranormal Public #2) is chocked full of action, mystery and suspense. In this installment, Charlotte Rollins returns to college only to discover demons are everywhere. With the assistance of her friends, Sip and Lisabelle, she manages to get to her dorm. Unfortunately, she discovers she is no longer a resident of Airlee and has been moved to Astra. It would not be so bad except for the fact she is the only resident.
Upon entering Astra, she meets her new den mother, Mrs. Swan. Mrs. Swan quickly informs Charlotte of the new rules applying to her security this semester. With the disappearance of the evil President, there is a four member committee assigned the task of keeping the resident of the school safe and interviewing for a new President. Now with four people watching her, Charlotte knows this year will prove difficult. Of course, everyone knows, rules are meant to be broken. The question is will Charlotte be the one breaking them?
Once Charlotte obtains a list of her classes, she discovers that she is assigned to the Museum of Masks an honor rarely bestowed upon anyone. The museum is run by a quirky and bizarrely dressed Professor Dacer. He enjoys his lime green suits and pink shoes…….Oh my! He instructs Charlotte on the unique power yielding abilities of the various masks. When the vampire of the college begin falling ill, Charlotte is convinced that a set of missing masks have something to do with it. The question is will she be able to locate them in time to save her friends and Professors? Of course, she will have to survive the demons first.
This second book in the series hit the ground running with action scenes. My only complaint is that the relationships between the characters seem to be at a standstill and I don’t just mean the love relationships. I would have loved to read more about the backgrounds of some of the characters including the new students. Hopefully, book three will yield more progress on this front.

I was looking forward to reading the second book in this series which is vaguely reminiscent of Harry Potter where Charlotte found out she could do magic and was in fact the last elemental. Boarding at Public (a sort of Hogwart's if you will) are all paranormals such a vampires, werewolves, pixies, fallen angels and mages who are learning to master their magic in a safe environment. Having survived last year where nearly everyone was trying to kill her, Charlotte was hoping that this year things would be different but that was not the case. Demons had surrounded the school and would have killed her if not for the quick thinking of her friends Sip and Lisabelle and that was just the first day back at school. A committee had formed to elect a new President of the school as the last one wanted to use Charlotte to further her evil plans and they were determined to protect Charlotte at all costs. It was proving to be difficult as Charlotte rushes headlong into danger without thinking of the consequences. So her schedule suddenly gets very busy with trying to protect her friends, save the school from the demons and trying to find out who is poisoning the vampires. Keller is back and he is one cute fallen angel though their romance is a PG affair, it is still sweet and innocent. There is enough action in the book to keep you guessing. Will Charlotte find the mask in time, save Princess Lanca and the other vampires in time, read this book and then you will find out.

Aside from the editing errors (missing punctuation/quotes, characters stated as being there but then, within a few lines, stated as not being there, etc), I really liked this story. Lots of magic, mystery, some romance - all the things that were in the first book and more. As with her other books (One Black Rose series), there are a lot of great moments - funny ones, serious ones, poignant ones, romantic ones...that all come together to make a beautiful story.

Although the main character, Charlotte, still does some pretty careless/stupid things, she knows it and takes those risks because a) she can't stand by and do nothing any longer, or b) she's the only one who can do so. I like the slow, progressive character growth, and how she has different roles depending on the environment (home life vs. school life). Definitely want to read the next one!

Better than the first, but not by much. I have the same problems with the first one as I did with this one i.e. juvenile and predictable, but it felt a bit more fast paced and interesting. I'm gonna stop reading the series because I don't think I'm the right audience for it (and I don't make a habit of reading series I don't like).

While reading about Charlotte and her friends the Spiderman quote keeps popping up in my mind, “with great power comes great responsibility.” Boy, is Charlotte feeling that responsibility in this book. The book is enjoyable, although choppy at times. Regardless of it being choppy it is still one of my favorite series. All the paranormal elements that I enjoy: boarding school/college check, mixture of paranormals check, no love triangle check, the unexpected happing check. I did figure out who the villain was pretty easy in this one but still it did not deter my joy of reading the book

I love me some Lisabelle and Sip. Yeah, I know they are the supporting cast in this book but I cannot help but think that without them Charlotte would be boring. Lisabelle brings out the rebel in Charlotte while Sip keeps them together as a family. I love how they are always quick to defend each other in public- yeah they may disagree but the three gals always presents a united front in private it may be another story.

I was glad to see that this book continued to be interesting after the 1st one, some books plummet while authors try to continue them, but I can tell I'll continue enjoying this series.

I'm still a bit disappointed that we didn't see some movement on the main character learning her elemental powers, although we did see SOME steps there hasn't been anything specific- but just like her learning late in the book in the first one I'm assuming this is to allow the next few books to continue.

So, I'm looking forward to reading book 3 to see where her fumbling around to learn has gotten her so far, and how the masks will possibly help her learn what she's capable of. I do like how the author made it...er, is realistic a bad term to use when describing a paranormal book? Ah, well, I like how she makes it realistic by making the main character fumble and fall while she's trying to learn her abilities, instead of the character just suddenly figuring it out and being awesome at her abilities.

In book two of the paranormal public series we continue following Charlotte and her friends as they develop their unique powers and fight for what they believe in. Charlotte found out in the last book that she is the only known elemental still alive and is very valuable to both sides. But what she doesn’t know is that this semester instead of learning the basics she gets to find out about Masks made by the ancestors and also fight for her life and show the school and everyone what she is made of.
I love how there are so many twist. Charlotte is strong and blessed to have her friends. My favorite scene was the fire. It showed the strength and weaknesses of everyone but also brought out the true meaning of fighting for what they believe and love.

Yay! We are finally seeing Charlotte coming into her own! I loved the character progression in this novel. However, I do remain torn on one issue. I love the fact that the romance is not an insane, crazy, "throw caution to the wind" affair. I am appreciative of the fact that the protagonist's romantic feelings do not DRIVE the plot. I love that her affections do not dominate her evolution. Unfortunately, I still found myself getting impatient with Kellar (and Charlotte too, though she was busy doing her thing) concerning their relationship. Seriously let's get this show on the road already!!!!

Elemental Rising is book two of the Paranormal Public series by Maddy Edwards and follows Charlotte and her gang into the second half of freshman year.

Charlotte is back at school, but things are changing. The demons are everywhere, and she knows they're after her. She has Tactical training, which is really just an excuse to let people fight with her. And, just to make things worse, there's now an unexplained sickness infecting the vampires.

With no one believing them, its up to Charlotte, Lisabelle, and Sip are all that's left to go hunting for the real culprit. If they're not killed first.

Now that Charlotte knows what she is, life at Paranormal Public should get easier, right? As the only Elemental, she must struggle to learn a lot of her heritage and magic on her own. She also gets an Internship, something unheard of for a Starter, but as the only Elemental she's needed in the Museum of Masks. Just when she thinks she's starting to find her way, she may also find that there is a target on her back this semester as well.

I absolutely love this series and cannot get enough of it! I am immediately immersing myself into the next book once I finish the previous. This is an awesome series and I never know what's coming from the mind of Maddy!

This was a worthy follow-up to Paranormal Public. This series is not over the top "wow factor" for me. However it's definitely a solid story and the fact that I tend to have much lower expectations for books that are primarily for kindle (free-$3.99) probably had an impact on my rating this as a 4 star story. It's not the most origianl story, but it does have some new spins in an overdone genre which is refreshing. The Museum of Masks is one of these spins that I especially enjoyed in this sequel. I'm excited for the next one.

Love this series! Enjoyed it as much as the first one altho' I'm kind of disappointed there weren't as many close encounters with Keller as I would have liked :D. Lisabelle is still such a hoot and I liked the new additions. I have to say tho', I saw Charlotte as kind of helpless and weak, she didn't do much except for that shield and it took a while to come. I was getting a little impatient with her and she kept ending up in infirmary, good thing she has strong friends.lol BUT of course it all came together in the end. Looking forward to reading til the end!

Loved it! Book 2 was yummy!

I'll still compare this series loosely to Harry Potter or rather the closest thing I have found. But these books have such vivid colors with fallen angels, werewolves, dream givers, mages, pixies and vampires as students at a college called Public which in all actuality the "public" knows nothing about it. Great book that brought on some action and kept me guessing. Maybe some formatting issues and a few grammatical errors but the book is so well written that your mind just fills in the blanks and keeps on going! Recommended for ages 10 and up.

The characters are growing, the romance is heating up and the Demons are everywhere. Somewhere in the middle of the carefully orchestrated chaos is a story. I got the feeling that the characters were not willing to stay put and the author was playing catch up at points. It is still a good read and one that YA audiences seeking some escapist fun will enjoy. This is not a book to critique. It is a book to enjoy.

This was a good addition to this series. The characters are beginning to obtain more depth, I do not like how Charlotte's family is sort of relegated to the sidelines and there is no real interaction with Sip's family but overall the plot moves along and Charlotte finds more support as well as some interesting opposition. A good addition to the series.

I thought it was a great follow-up to the first book, Paranormal Public. If you enjoyed the first book, you won't be disappointed with Museum of Masks. Edwards took the story further and made it work without sacrificing the world/story she created in the first. Looking forward to a new semester!

wow! I am impressed another book that begs for more. If you like Harry Potter you will love this series and contrary to belief it is not based on that series. This is a whole new ball game and I couldn't put it down. Loved love love the characters!

Enjoying this sweet series. Wish they could be edited one more time to clean up grammatical errors and just plain incorrect word usage, but if you can get past that, these are fun books.

This was for the most part OK. One part bothered me was the interaction from Camilla and then Cale
“I guess I just thought that if you cared, you wouldn’t be with her,” I told him simply. “She really does have a good side,” he said. “I don’t know what it is about you that sets her off . . . must be your grace and charm.” He grinned.

Like no no if this was my husband doing this we wouldn't be in a relationship anymore cause that isn't right..

Aside from that the book wasn't too bad..
