Chiaroscuro—the treatment of light and shade to give an illusion of depth—is stock in trade for Marc Dorin's work as a photographer. When he meets the silk and steel Julia Wilcox, it's as if one of his sepia-toned prints comes to gently-hued life. But will the shadows from her past drain all the color from their future together? A Christian romance
This book is a great read for someone who might be struggling with life's many choices. We have all had struggles and made the wrong choices at some point in our life. This book reminds us that long as we have faith in God he will always be by our side!!!
I ended up sort of giving up on this one. I made it halfway through, at which point the two main characters were already a "madly in love" couple who spent a lot of time fretting about whether or not they had a future together without ever talking to each other about that. It got super frustrating, and I began some heavy skimming. The same time I realized I had missed a few events, I realized I didn't care. I read the last chapter to get it off my list.
I liked this book but I thought it was kind of slow in places. When they were in love but couldn’t talk about it with each other and took a break from each other for a while. It was great to see they both had faith in god and let him lead them to the altar.
Entertaining romance. I would recommend to anyone for some light reading. The characters were believable and both Julia and Marc had serious issues to iron out before their reconciliation.
This is book 2 of the Oregon in Love Series. Book 1 and 2 are worth the read. Descriptions of places in Oregon take you to a real and pleasant Oregon - from the Saturday market stoll to Pioneer Plaza. These 3 stories are pleasant reads to cleanse your mind and treat you to a good old-fashioned love story. Just don't expect Book 3 to have much to do about Oregon or the previous main characters. That was disappointing, but still not a bad read.
I really enjoyed this book...I received it free via BookBub, and was not aware that it is second in a series until afterwards...great stand alone book however I guess it does incoropate previous characters from book one although I barely noticed because the story really was about Marc and Julia...I will be reading book one because I liked Brian and Sarah in this book and book one is about how they got together...interesting.
Clean Christian book. Likable characters and interesting story line. The push and pull between the hero and heroine is a bit frustrating. One is pursuing and the other retreats and as soon as you think they've worked it out...they switch. It all works out lovely in the end. I've only found this available on Amazon or Smashwords.
I wanted to like this book, but I found her annoying and selfish and him shallow. I understand the possibility that God can cause a lightbulb to go off and work out a couple's problems but it seems that the author used God as a crutch and the characters(including brother and sis-in-law) tip toed around without ever really communicating.
I enjoyed reading the book, just not quite sure why the college girl was in the picture. I saw no reason for her part in the book. It is a story of second chances and what decisions play a part in our lives. Light and Shadows is a good name for the book, since we are continually in light and shadows in our lives.
I found this book to be kind of annoying. I liked the storyline, but the two main characters acted like teenagers over what was going on in their relationship. It just got old after awhile reading the same thing.
