Rate this book
He was the right one, the fated one, but was he right for her?

The end of the world. The day of reckoning. The final battle.

In the last chapter of the My Merlin Series, it is a time of great strife for Arriane (aka Ryan) and Merlin (aka Matt) as they struggle to stem the flood of destruction unleashed upon the world. Their only hope rests in the one object that can restore their greatest ally: the Healing Cup.

With every scrap of life hanging in the balance, Ryan must convince both friends and enemies that the key to survival rests in the plans of a sword-toting girl of only eighteen. She must reconcile a fifteen-hundred-year rivalry between two brothers, and be ruthless enough to break a heart—and a life—in the process. And at some point, she really needs to get herself to Prom.

This is one of those books that when I encounter in my calibre library makes me think:What the hell I was thinking?
Merlin comes to America and goes to high school making himself know as Matt (stop and consider this for a moment).Merlin, High school,Matt.
The post twilight was a rough period, because only in the post twiligh era someone could think that sending Merlin (That Merlin) to high school could be a good idea.
Nobody wants to go to high school.
If I were an ancient creature and I had to go back to high school again to save the world I would let the world go to hell probably. Sorry mate, but no.
Anyway if I were Morgana, I wouln't allow anyone to call me Maggie. No way.
The level of trashiness of this serie is unbelivable, the plot only makes me want to put my hands throgh my hair.
But for some reason I've read it and despite its incredible trashiness, I sort of liked it.
It still makes me laught that

I don't even have the strength to organize my thoughts into words after reading this book. I have never been so completely disgusted and fed up with a heroine since twilight. Talk about never sticking to her beliefs. I've lost count of how many times she decided to not be a COMPLETE fool but her backbone just flew out the window where Vane was concerned. Seriously I have no problem with Vane or Matt because they were both true to their character to the very end. Even though I was on Team Matt or whatever, I was so glad they didn't end up together. Talk about being better off.

Ryan, Ryan. Reading this in your point of view made me want to blow my brains out was a really trying task, I give you that. Not to mention the fact that you traded Matt's magic without even thinking about what that means for Matt. That mess could be overlooked if you even stopped to apologize just once and acknowledge the fact that being magical is like a part of Merlin. So she basically ripped out a part of him and didn't even care. Then she had the nerve to say if Matt really loved her he would have forgiven her... when she practically already chose Vane. Sometimes I think Ryan is a humongous masochist because I seem to remember Vane being quite abusive in past books. So basically she's not only ridiculously dumb but also potentially harmful to herself!

Then on that bloody road trip with Merlin, that she was specifically NOT invited to by the way, she had the audacity to even suggest that Matt should loosen up and see the sights when he was bloody well trying to save the world. Then, she started ranting on about how Merlin doesn't trust people and actually used those guys on the plane as an example. In case you didn't notice honey, they shouldn't have been trusted. Then when she found out Merlin was smart enough to lie she got pissed because he was just protecting the mission. Obviously Matt wouldn't trust you if you lose your will every time Vane doesn't even breathe the same air.

Ryan is just the most selfish heroine I've ever had the displeasure to meet. At the end where she wanted to go to school so badly what the hell was up with that and just ended up making out with Vane but got caught by Merlin, I don't really remember scenes properly because I'm trying to wipe this book from my memory, but for some inane reason she didn't want to help him with something that could potentially save the world just because she was mad at him! Cue the groans and head-thumping. And her whole deal with Excalibur. She didn't want to wield it but she also didn't want anyone else to wield it. Classic. At least Gia had the sense to not be entirely buddy-buddy with her unlike Ryan's brother, what's-his-name. What the hell was up with that part where he was mad at Matt in the hospital room when Vane was the one who actually chomped down on his sister? Oh right, he was mad that Matt put her in danger. Did I fail to mention that Ryan sneaked into the plane, like a bloody ninja apparently, even though Matt REALLY didn't want her to come? Must have slipped my mind.

For some reason I feel that the author didn't really like Ryan because Matt sometimes voiced my thoughts out, by pointing out her stupidity which Ryan blithely ignored. Must be why I like Matt so much. This book would have been readable because the writer had some interesting plot points. Too bad it was constantly overshadowed by Ryan's lack of brains. I'm kind of hoping the writer would write a new story with even better titles for Matt. Oh and this title was so misleading :( Although I think the author realized that Vane was the more popular vote so she changed up the whole story to somehow gain a little sympathy for Vane even though from the title alone anyone would have thought she would end up with Merlin? Whatever. I can't be arsed anymore. Rant ends here. Farewell, Ryan! I hope we never meet again.

Gosh what a disappointment this series turned out to be. It started so well, but the last two books in the series got way too complicated and complex in the plot. The author started to bring in all sorts of Greek mythology and Indian legends with the Camelot mythology. It just got to be too much and a little ridiculous. I still don't really understand how it all came together, because it was so all over the place. I never liked Vane's character, and his relationship with Ryan is a true sign of an abusive controlling relationship. First she loves him, then she doesn't because he back stabs her "for her own good", then she decides to sleep with him. WHAT?! Merlin's character, who started off as a really strong character, became obnoxious and rude to Ryan for no reason (especially during their trip in Sri Lanka. Trust me, if you love the girl, you make sure to stop for food!). And she chose the wrong wizard.

I had a hard time getting through the last book of the series. I was glad it was over.

*EDIT*: And another thing, every book in the series is referencing Merlin. So how did Merlin not get the girl? Still upset over this series disappointing conclusion.

Maybe 2.5…? If I’m really generous! Yeah, I’m not a big fan of this one. I had to force myself to finish it--it really felt like work much more than pleasure in the end :(

I have always liked the action/adventure/mythology in these books, but this one just didn’t cut it for me. A lot of the plot either confused me or annoyed me. Maybe it’s because it took me so long to finish the book that I forgot a lot of the details along the way, but I really lost track of what the goal was, why on earth the characters were doing the things they were doing, and what the significance was of the various stones, magical items, etc. Irritating!!

I think my big problem with this whole series, and this book in particular, is that I really hated both of the love interests and I had zilch respect for/confidence in Ryan by the end because she didn’t just ditch these two and find someone better and not pick from the abusive, paternal Vane (conveniently there’s no mention of the physical abuse from the last book!) and the supremely self-involved, oblivious Matt. And, the whole “let’s reform Vane and rewrite his history to make him more sympathetic and change his personality after the fact” started taking its toll on me the further I read into the book, too. Frankly, I don’t recall Vane being THAT into Ryan before--he was more into himself (and ditto with Matt). The missed opportunities with Matt for this entire series seriously irked me, too (particularly in this book where he )!! It almost seemed like the author was writing this series “by the seat of her pants,” found out and decided to go that way--regardless of the . I was really mad that we never got ! That’s what I was waiting for and I thought a few times that it might finally be coming--but NO! I should’ve known how the book would go with the ! I really can’t get over Vane’s 2nd book behavior--despite the . Come on--he acted like HER FATHER (albeit a perverted father-daughter dynamic, but he was SO bossy and “I know best” with her!) at the beginning of the last book (before ANY “brainwashing” or “monster-invading” had taken place)! And, Ryan was SO irritating here, too! Completely beyond me that she knows how best to handle EVERY situation (of course, it was also infuriating that no one (Matt!) EVER listens to her!!)!

I guess, if I’m fair, there were a few parts I enjoyed in this book. The action was fairly exciting and unpredictable (even though, as I mentioned, much of it was confusing). And, if I didn’t think about it too much, I did enjoy the --even if a lot of it didn’t seem consistent with earlier events/feelings/behavior.

Such wasted potential in this story! I’m really sorry (and angry!) I wasted my time. And, forgive me, but the whole thing really didn’t smack of any kind of HEA at the end--seemed very tentative, fragile, and potentially destructive. I could see it falling apart at the first small disagreement--or the first time Ryan doesn’t do as she’s told! And, I was confused by a lot in the end, too (e.g.). This book was a BIG disappointment overall!!

Ever My Merlin is the third book in the My Merlin Series. The end of the world is drawing closer, and the conflict between the two brothers is getting worse, making things even harder. While it seems that Vane is lost to being a monster (well most of the time), Ryan still isn't ready to give up on him. After facing catastrophic events, facing the loss of loved ones, and facing the wrath of not only one, but both brothers, Ryan finds herself on a quest with Matt to find the Healing Cup, which Matt believes is crucial to their plan. She also finds herself force into having to finally make a decision as to which brother she will choose, and which one she will let go. They difficult question is can she make that choice, and what will be the consequences when she does?

The third book in the series was great. There was quite a bit of focus on mythology, history, and legends, which was interesting. The adventure took these characters from one end of the globe to the other. The battle intensifies and Ryan finds herself not only in the heat of the battle, but also straddling the line of allegiance between two brothers. You can't help but love both of these brothers, and both of these brothers love Ryan, each in their own way. Vane, super hot, bad, mysterious, intense, possessive, and sometimes a little scary, yet he is always there for her. Merlin is generally the calmer and more rational brother, or is he? Merlin has many of his own secrets and trust issues, as does Vane. He to is really hot, but also more rational. The action is intense, heavily rooted in magic and fantasy, which was really exciting. The romance is hot, When faced with losing both brothers, Ryan does what she feels necessary to save them both. In the end, she chooses the brother that I wanted her to choose, but my heart really hurt for the other. On that note, Priya Ardis did an excellent job of ending this series, which is so important in my opinion. The modern day feel of this classic story set in a YA background was so entertaining, and though intense, there was enough humor to keep you from feeling overwhelmed. If you are a lover of romance, mythology, and fantasy, then this is one series you will definitely want to check out. I really loved it and highly recommend it.

Favorite Quotes:

"Do you think we can be friends?" I asked. He stared up at the ceiling, "Probably not, but we can pretend."

He forgave me for planning his death. I forgave him for being the source of my guilt. As much as it killed me to see him with her, I also wouldn't have her with anyone else. The two who filled me, but completed each other more.

CHEERS for the Author's brilliant imagination. A mixture of Greek Myth, Arthurian Legend & Astronomy. What an amazing concept! This novel has taken me to a wonderful adventure...an adventure that got me lost from time to time so I had to retrace my steps.

JEERS for the Author's chosen Heroine. For the life of me...I couldn't imagine of why Excalibur had chosen Ryan as the sword bearer. For all of her talk of she can take care of herself, make her own decisions & nobody owns her was all for naught for she continued to endangered everyone around her. I am glad her mother was dead for if she survived Ryan will get her killed also! I'm disappointed with Merlin (Matt). He continued to share his confidences (the Wizards plan) with Ryan & in exchange Ryan betrays HIM for her blinded love for Vane. The title of this book & Series are deceiving for it got so little to do with Merlin. All of the stolen magic had made Vivane a powerful wizard instead & I do believed he will always be seduced by evil. So how long will Ryan be able to keep her leash on Vane?

Do not read: If you don't like love triangles, or deceptive titles, If you LIKE Merlin/Matt
Read: If you like Vane over everything else, a dumb heroine who stops thinking as soon as she nears Vane.

Pros:
Interesting ideas and plot
Magic and Arthurian Legend
Merlin
Good characterization of Merlin and Vane.
Sweet Romance between Vane and Ryan (if you can ignore the fact that Matt was utterly abandoned and used cruelly by Ryan)

Cons:
Chaos
Dumb Heroine, who wasn't so dumb in prev books but for some reason became one in this one
No Merlin what so ever.
Deceptive title and synopsis
Annoying decisions by the Heroine
Too many theories, one over the other
No scope for Matt-Ryan, as Ryan was irritatingly gooey over Vane.
The potential story line for this book ie Uniting Vane and Merlin, and a title derived hope of Merlin and Ryan were crushed and not dealt with properly.

Explanation:
This book tore me apart. I'll never like this book. Simply because it was deceptive with its title and synopsis. Ryan never for once chose Matt. She chose vane every fucking time. Why the hell then name the series my Merlin? Doesn't make sense at all. It seems crooked and psychotic to me, to torture Merlin fans. Honestly, I loved book 2 and book 3 just made me want to beat the hell out of whatever was written. I desperately clung on till the last word hoping for it to make sense, hoping for it to end good for Merlin, but I just lost it with the end. I dint just get Ryan. This wasn't ever a story about Merlin. So why the disguise and hope only to be brutally crushed?
There were too many confusing theories. From lelex to the fury, there was just a but too much to be honest. The rawana track, once again raised hopes only to be struck through straight. It was a major chaos. I mean, it just doesn't make sense. I get it, vane and Ryan had a good story going.. so why bring Merlin in b/w on the first place? It was sickening to see Matt disappointed and alone very single time. This is no Merlin story, it was a story about vane and Ryan, with a sick twist of Merlin being always the losing one. I hated it. I'm sorry, I'm a big Merlin fan, but even I'd I put aside those biases, I can't help but wonder about the stupid love triangle. It was triangle only because Matt kept getting shoved away again and again. I liked how vane transformed and his past stories but honestly, that's not enough if you name the fucking story Merlin and have him butchered like that. Now all that remains after a good 1st book and an excellent second one is the bitter taste of the 3rd one which makes me hate the whole series. I'm sorry I'd never recommend this heartbreak to anyone. It was a pure heartbreak for me. I felt like Matt, holding onto fry single possibility, and hoping it would get better. But no, my heart got crushed the same way Matt's did. So, dear miss Priya, I simply hate this book, for the simple reason that you gave such a bad title an unsuited title to the series and books and for the ever more sick manipulative synopsis. And why was there no Morgana? To hell with the book. I want to hit someone with it for doing this to me. Ugh you psychotic book!!
On a last note, if this book was all about Vane and Ryan's romance, why bring Merlin into it and Why the deceptive title? I'd say the title crushed 70% of my soul after the end of the book.

NOTE: This is a review of the whole series.

I regret the time I got to read this.
Well. It wasn't THAT bad. The fact remains that I was urged to finish the whole series testifies that these books were "entertaining". Quite.

Let's make a list of pros and cons of the series, shall we?

PRO(s)
-I can put up with it to the end. [though with groans and complaints from time to time]
-The romance is tolerably sweet. If not typical.
-'Rich' mix of mythology, though not as well mixed as the Iron Druid Chronicles nor Michael Scott's Secrets of Nicholas Flamel series. [I get that they're different genres. But still, there are some gaps here and there.]
-etc.(My head can't think of any more at the moment)

CONs
-The inconsistent and misleading title. Readers will understand, Merlin does NOT play that big a part here. "My" Merlin. *snort*
-The annoyingly simple characters who keep on being childish every time they fight. [It's always Vane vs. Merlin vs. Ryan, with their arguments, their bickering and snapping at each other. 'You love him', 'You hate him', 'You don't understand!', those sorta cr*appy arguments. Grow up already!! GOD. And that ending bit that Vane did was SO predictable. Despite being the greatest wizard and hating his brother's guts for centuries (decades?), he sure doesn't know about his brother much. Gah.]
-The jumping and unflowing plot that insists on being brief and undescriptive, leaving you confused from time to time.

There's more, but this gets the gist of the problem.
So, if you're looking for some typical love triangle with some plain mixes of mythological magic and 'the-fate-of-the-world-rests-in-your-hands' kinda plot, then this is your book.

***Spoilers are written in this review****

To take a few words from another reviewer that I read: "The third left a lot to be desired; choppy story line, and text that requires further editing."

Parts of the book were putting me to sleep to be honest. I feel like there was so much more this series could have done. I also feel there should be more to the story, maybe a 4th book. I just feel kind of incomplete with some of it. Also, some of the scenes, some of the things that happened..they seemed almost like they were just thrown in there and it didn't work for me. I read this to get closure mostly. I loved Vane in the beginning, Matt/Merlin was great too, but she kind of got over all the cruel things that he did VERY easily in my opinion. I know he had a plan all along and he did it for his brother, but still.

Also, I feel that there should be more story with the characters. What happens now? Did they really just go normally on with their lives? All the other books got 3 stars from me, but with so many issues with this one, I had to give it a 2. Also, the editing is pretty bad. There were repeated sentences, words, and randomness of the such.

Another thing, why are all the books titled with Merlin? She doesn't end up with him. Plus, the story does not completely revolve around her and Merlin. From the titles alone you'd think they'd end up together. "My Boyfriend Merlin" - Well, he wasn't really your boyfriend... "My Merlin Awakening" and "Ever My Merlin" - he wasn't your Merlin and didn't up your Merlin.
The titles just do not fit to me.

Mehh, the ending was good and I'm glad it didn't do a Maximum Ride and end with the end of the world cuz that just sucked. But I'm left feeling kinda hollow. I was always rooting for Merlin to get the girl and it's just sad that again the "bad-boy" gets the girl. Oiy Vey, like Simon and Jace all over again, only at least Simon eventually found love with Izzy. But nope Merlin's left on his own wandering while he waits for his jealousy to patter out. Q.Q dont worry Merlin I still love you!!

I really enjoyed this series. I'm glad goodreads introduced me to it. I enjoyed that we really got to see into the mystery that is Vane in this book. I felt it really explained his motivations and I never thought this would happen but it seems in the end that Vane was actually the better man over Merlin due to his inability to trust anyone even himself. I'm hoping this author continues to write because I am definitely a fan.

Ok, this one was a little bit messed up. Both Merlin and Viviane were big asses, but I have some soft spot for Vane. I'd prefer something more for the ending but overall I liked this trilogy, it was entertaining and full of surprises. The mix between Arthurian story and Greek myths was also interesting.

AHHHHHHH!!!! A GREAT ENDING!!!! Of course I was hurt because it was the ending of another one of my favorite book but I loved how Mrs. Priya gave us the "happy ever after" at the end. Hate that it had to end but I'm happy to know how everything turns out!!!

Forced myself to finish this book. This book had a lot of issues, but the ones that stood out most to me were the overwhelming misogyny and rapey vibes. Not cool and not okay to normalize stepping over women and making them out to be objects.

The angst & romance in this are soooooo good & this was a very nostalgic read for me but unfortunately the plot makes kind of no sense. Somehow the story is dragged out but also jumps around, like, a lot.

I’ve had the lovely and honorable opportunity to follow along with the Merlin stories Priya Ardis has written from the beginning. I’ve fallen into the abyss, and i drank the kool-aid, but in the end i came out unscathed, but still wanting more with each book she has written. If you have not had this chance, please start with My Boyfriend Merlin, followed by My Merlin Awakening.

Ryan continues her inner struggles as well as those within her own heart. She knows that her heart can only belong to one: Merlin or his brother Vane. But what will happen when the choice she makes sacrifices the other?

Merlin is older than dirt, and his been there done that attitude will do absolutely nothing for him when he awakes to no magic. Ryan had made a choice on his behalf, and he boy was he livid. Yet no matter what she says or does, he still loves her deeper than she will ever know.

Vane, now the Fisher King, took the power in order to save the world, his brother, and the only woman he will ever love. Ryan refuses to give up on Vane so easily, but she quickly falls into his devilish games where people she loves and respects die. Yet no matter how evil the beast within seems, she knows her Vane is still in there, he is not lost forever, and she will fight to get him back.

It is a pure race against time (really the end of the world is approaching quickly), and Ryan, Vane and Merlin must work together, or watch their world be torn asunder, disappearing into oblivion forever. Even when it becomes clear that they could save a few, Ryan knows it is not enough.

Can the bearer of Excalibur, the wise and powerful Merlin, and the newly crowned Fisher King pull through?

I felt powerful emotions as I read Ever My Merlin. Part of it was knowing that the story was winding down, and when we fall in love with characters, it is like saying goodbye to a close friend. Yet even knowing the My Merlin series is done, I found myself wanting more.

A love story, an old mythical fairy tale, an adventure, and modern times walked into a “pub” and came out the other side as the My Merlin series.

This is how I like to describe it, but really this only scratches the surface. Priya Ardis also writes wonderful, suspense filled scenes where the characters duel, fight, and get into all kinds of normal teenage trouble. I love the realism of each and everyone, even the wizards and gargoyles. You won’t find fake emotions in My Merlin, just everyday feelings we all go/went through as a teen.

Ever My Merlin is written for the older YA audience, but as i have said before, this book is also written for us adults too. I love anything related to Merlin, Camelot, and I could go on and on. Yet this was my first real series that I have had the pleasure to read that brings this lovely tale to a younger crowd. I look forward with sharing it with my own children, so that they too may grow to love the story of the sword bearer, and find their own hope.

I am a huge fan of the My Merlin series so it's safe to say that I was mega excited to read the final chapter in Ryan, Vane and Matt's story. The final book in the trilogy sees Ryan in a race against time to prevent the destruction of the earth. The story is action packed from the start and it kept me reading well into the night!

Let me just say, I think Priya has possibly created one of my favourite love triangles of all time. I had a huge amount of love for both Vane and Matt and throughout the first half of the story, I really couldn't choose between them. You don't know the pain of a love triangle until you read this series! For the first two books in the series, I was set on Vane as my favourite, but in this book, Ryan goes on an important journey with Matt and we see much more of him, so I felt myself adoring him almost as much as I did Vane.

There was a definite inner debate going on in my head throughout this book:

I love Vane.

Oh, but I love Merlin.

But I love Vane!

And I love Merlin!

BUT I REALLY LOVE VANE!!

Seriously though, I adore everything about Vane. His snarky comments, the fact that he calls Ryan Dorothy. He will definitely remain one of my favourite book characters! Also, we finally get some answers about his and Matt’s lives.

I love how this book shows how far Ryan has developed throughout the series. She’s a lot stronger and I love how she does things for herself, without having Matt or Vane hold her hand, in a sense.

The plot is mind-blowing. There is so much action going on in each chapter and there are so many ‘OMG!’ moments. There was a moment quite soon into the story that I didn’t see coming and it reminded me that characters’ lives were at stake. I love how there was humour kept into the story throughout all the seriousness. We see that, although Ryan is the sword-bearer and has to help save the world, she is still just a typical teenage girl, which makes her so much more relatable and real to the reader.

I cannot put into words how much I have adored this series. The ending was beyond amazing and it has sealed the deal on this trilogy becoming one of my favourite book series. I’d like to thank Priya for creating such an incredible story and I'm excited to see what she writes next!

If you haven’t discovered this fabulous series yet, you really must read the first book, My Boyfriend Merlin, right now! Word of caution, you may want to watch out if you're reading this on public transport. Squeals of excitement often earn you some strange looks...

Ever My Merlin; the last book in the My Merlin Series. It's a bittersweet day as I sit here and type this review. I've finished the books and now write my final review. I will take the time here to once again issue the standard warning that if you've not read the first one and the second one, I would recommend them to you before reading further along here. They are fun entertaining books and worth reading and I don't want to ruin anything if you dare read this review and I let something slip that could be a spoiler.

In this last book, a lot more is learned about Merlin and Vane through visions, dreams, and just by their words and actions. Ryan is forced to be the voice of reason and to finally really act regardless of either of them when it comes time to do so. Though she is still torn between what they tell her should be done and what she thinks should be done, she works it out (I don't want to give anything away so I'll stop there!). Certain things happen in this book that change those we've come to love/hate forever and a race against time is now at hand to save... well, it really depends who you think is right (another place I'll stop at!). This last book takes everything you've read up to this point and brings it all to a boiling point which boils right on over. You'll not want to miss this action packed exciting climax to this amazing series.

This book has some spots that are rather confusing and all of a sudden sprung on you out of nowhere that don't seem to make a whole heck of a lot of sense. However, all in all, the wonderfulness of this series and the completeness you get from this last book make it super easy to overlook the few spots like that.

One thing that I loved about all the books in this entire series is how impressive it is how much research and work the author must have put into the myths and legends as well as the detail in structures and towns. The legends and myths are beyond excellent to read about and see the blending of myth/legend over the different cultures and times. It's also great to read the modern twists and personal touches the author gives them to make them hers for the books. As for the structures and towns, everything from the house in Boston to the Greek Isles (and the sea below) to India and back to England are so well described you can see it in your mind perfectly in just the right amount of words. The author has a real talent for words and, although I am really going to miss these books more than I can express in words since I'm a reader and not a writer, I'm looking forward to reading more from her in the future!

"Hay otra historia que conozco. Ésta no tiene ninguna espada o
visiones. En esta hay un muchacho que encontró a una chica durante una época terrible."
"¿Cómo resultó?"
"No lo sé, pero sí sé que el muchacho no se arrepentirá. Ni un minuto. No importa cómo resulte.

Me cansó, me harto, me saturo!!

description

Ahora lo entiendo. El siempre va a ser mi Merlín. Siempre voy a amarlo. Lo que el hizo, se llevo mi corazón.
"La he perdido. Yo los observaba desde las sombras.
Tengo mi hermano a cambio.
Eso hace que no me arrepienta del cambio, que puede haber sido la razón porque la perdí.
(...)
Yo los echaré de menos.
Yo volveré a verlos. Algún día. Cuando sea el momento adecuado. Cuando pueda estar con ellos sin que estos celos salvajes desgarren a través de mí."

GoodReads Synopsis: The end of the world.

My Thoughts: WOW! What a roller coaster ride!

This installment is a total and complete race against time to save the world as we know it. Matt, as usual, thinks he has all the answers. But his judgement is clouded by his jealousy and anger. Ryan, thankfully, is the voice of reason, and is able to perceive things that Matt just can’t bring himself to see. Vane, meanwhile, remains his rather arrogant self…arrogant or not, his love has no bounds where Ryan is concerned.

Priya Ardis has written a very satisfying conclusion to a wonderful story that had something for everyone! Yes, there is an element of romance, but there is so much more. Global, cataclysmic events, duels, history, mythology, at one time I felt like I was reading an episode of “The Amazing Race”, and the prize at the end was saving the world and it’s inhabitants. Ardis has a wonderful voice and her attention to detail as well as history is amazing! I can’t recommend this story enough to everyone, but especially to those who love anything having to do with magic, Camelot, fantasy, history, and mythology! I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you Priya Ardis for a wonderful series that is now an all-time favorite! I look forward to re-visiting Matt, Ryan, and Vane many times in the years to come…and I will be anxiously awaiting whatever you choose to write in the future…Yours Truly, a Forever Fan!

I love the My Merlin series so much! It is one of my favorite series based on a legend that I have ever read. The world that Priya Ardis creates is incredible. Fans of King Arthur and Merlin need to read this series.

Matt and Vane. This whole book boiled down to that one choice. And what a choice it was! I didn't even know what I really wanted, but still Ever My Merlin was right on point the whole time. Ryan's struggle was like reading my thoughts the whole way. It was such a good journey for her to go on. Like an epic adventure. I didn't really know who to believe all the time, but that was part of the fun. Who was telling the truth? Who was really bad? Was anyone bad? Were they both bad? I am not kidding- all of those questions and theories passed through my mind at one point or another while reading the final book in the My Merlin series.

I knew what I wanted to happen guy wise, but I am not going to tell you what that is. Instead I am going to tell you one thing I love and I thing I hate about both guys.

Matt- I love how good he was. It really did seem like he wants to save everyone all the time. But I couldn't stand how he would never make a move concerning Ryan. I know he cares about her. I just really wanted him to do something a little more a bunch of times in the books.

Vane- I love how you can tell he really does care so much about Ryan, and seeing glimpses of his true self when she is around. But I can't stand how arrogant he is. He holds is cards so close that no one can tell what is really going on with him half of the time.

Ever my Merlin and the My Merlin series in general is one that I whole heartedly recommend for fans of legends, mythology, magic and fantasy. I love the story that Priya told. The writing is magical and the attention is detail is incredible. She created a pretty awesome and expansive universe. The ending of the book was so intense too! I loved it.

Maybe it's just me, but sometimes (or everytime) something super important (be it, super- secretive, -hint finding, -explaining, -finding THE one solution, -who's bad/who's not) happens, I was basically confused as hell.
So I dragged myself through the few drama pages and then after reading on I saw what's new to the story and lived with it..
Concerned by this slight problem was also my understanding of the characters and their actions (yeah, hello MATT, Ryan & Vane!)...

Afterwards I'm not sure what I really liked about this book,
mostly I was curious how the story will end and what happened to the characters (and FYI: nope, I'm not really satisfied with the end as it turned out to be)
Without doubt it's really original and there were so many varied mythology-references thrown into it which kept it interesting.
(as most of them were absolutely new to me I'm not sure how "true"/ researched they are in fact)
And I guess the fewer than hoped sweet, touchy, sizzling moments with Vane/ Merlin didn't hurt as well =)

Nevertheless I'm not really disappointed by it, just not completely satisfied and blown away.

Is it possible to give negative stars to a book? Asking for a friend...

In other news, if you're looking for a book with an incredibly unhealthy relationship, a plot that makes no sense whatsoever, and horrible writing. Then this is the one for you!

Don't ask me why I decided to read and finish this book. Quarantine does funny things to people...

I have been trying super hard this summer to get to all those books I have been putting off reading for..well, forever, especially from indie authors that I already know I like their work (series, books, trilogies what have you).

Going into trilogies are always hard for me, especially if I end up falling in love with the characters because you know after three books that is it, the series is over and you are left wondering what to read next.

It is even harder finishing trilogies that you know are not going to end well after reading the first book. You know the ones, the ones that have those dreaded love triangles. You know someone is leaving unhappy and usually it is the one you are rooting for, have fallen in love with or just can't help it that you like even though you like the other guy as well. Sadly, this is one of those series.

I knew after the first book I was going to have a hard time with choosing Matt or Vane, well, not me choosing them of course but with Ryan choosing one, because I couldn't help it, I really liked them both for completely different reasons. And to make matters worse, not only are they both good guys (in different ways) but they are brothers. Yep, brothers. Could anything be worse?

Although, if I am being honest, it was pretty easy to predict in the beginning who Ryan would end up with, I mean, her feelings were pretty strong for this person from the get go but I couldn't help rooting for the other guy as well. Something must be wrong with me that I like to put myself through this time and time again. Why do I read books with love triangles in them? I just end up sad and heartbroken for someone and very seldom do they end with a happily ever after for everyone. Yet, I am always drawn to them.

Even with the love triangle I really liked this series. I have always loved the tale of King Arthur and Merlin and this was a fun little twist on not only Merlin and Arthur but on mythology as well, (another one of my loves). I have always like Ryan, she it pretty strong and determined to do what it right and to take on the role as the sword bearer but for some reason, she falters a little in this one. She is till strong and determined but it seems that more than ever she is confused about which brother to be with and where her heart really belongs. Of course, she has reasons to be confused considering all that transpired in the last book but I have to admit, it was pretty wishy washy and I didn't like it at all. It almost seemed like she wanted both Vane and Matt to be in love with her and to prove their love for her without her actually choosing either one and I didn't like that. I didn't like her leading them on and being angry and upset at either one of them when, by all rights, they should be mad at her.

Ryan wasn't the only one that has changed however, both Matt and Vane have as well and I can't say for the better or for the worse for either of them. Change is sometimes good and sometimes not.

I have to admit, there were some things in this one I didn't see coming. Some changes with Matt that really had me not liking him as much as I once did and the same goes for Vane, except the opposite. Vane has never been the good boy, he is dangerous and slightly unhinged at times but I have never doubted how he felt for Ryan deep down and I think that comes through more and more in this last installment of the series. It surprised me the things Matt kept from Ryan about their mission, their past and what was in store for their future. The lies caught up to him and it was hard for him to redeem himself in my eyes after that. I still liked Matt don't get me wrong but it became clear that he wasn't the good boy we were all lead to believe he was.

I think overall things were handles nicely in this one, if not differently. There were no easy answers for anything or anyone. People died, people conquered and people were lost (whether to the good or the evil). What I did enjoy and was not expecting was the look into Vane's past and what made him the harsh man he was at the beginning of the series. That was refreshing to look at and very insightful, I just wish we would have gotten the same glimpses for Merlin (Matt) as well, I think it would have redeemed him a little more in my eyes if we had.

The ending was satisfying yet still left me with a few unanswered questions about the world they lived in and what would happen with everyone. I wanted to see more of it I guess and I wanted to know for sure that everyone was okay (at least those that had survived). Even though this is a trilogy and obviously this was the last book in said trilogy, the ending did leave it open for a spin off series and I am hoping that Ardis does in fact do just that. I would love more of their new life and to see what happens with them all.

all-in-one-myths

A timely read for the hyped 'end of the world'
I was speechless when I finished this...

PLOT: The story continues directly from My Merlin Awakening. Matt, Vane, Ryan and the gang are trying to save the entire human race from the end of the world. the story revolves on how choices and making the right one would save them ALL and not selected people only.

At first I was having a hard time remembering what did happened the last time, as they line up to shield the bay of Chennai, India with other keltois (wizards). The first tsunami caused many of the wizards to flame out, which means to die. When they didn't expect that there would be a second wave of tsunami, and Matt lay unconscious, Ryan was forced to make a decision and Vane offered one with a price. Well, Vane don't make a deal without a price... That made the whole adventure more challenging.

I think this book fall a little on my expectation, as I didn't match the level of my excitement when I started reading it. Maybe because it was told in an alternating order (present-memory). There is a time when I was already on the peak of wanting to read more, but then it would be interrupted by vane's memory. then my excitement would fade. But those memories was really needed for the understanding of the whole story. Maybe the author can enhance it more, but didn't. I think the order of the story can be improved.

But hands down on how the author interconnected different myths (greek, roman, indian) and some historical facts to establish the world and the story... two thumbs up!

The ending was heart breaking and yet happy... I didn't expected who Ryan choose at the end.

CHARACTERS: I hate Ryan for the 2/5 of the story (and made me think to hate the story), she is so stubborn, bitter, too emotional under-age. She was torn between two brothers, I say, why would she be Vane's girlfriend if she doesn't admit that she loves him?? teens

I don't know what is in her mind when she always stop to buy some stuff she fancy... duh? Shopping on a middle of a mission to save mankind?? Where is your priority Sword-bearer?? But then, on half of the book she was backed again to her old self, the one I like from the first two books.

There are deaths on this book, but opened to other doors.

OTHERS: How did Ryan exited the airport? Did she always have her immigration card with her, even she would just have sometime outside their safe house?? (maybe Matt magicked it??)

on the trip Ryan told that she does not have money, but then she was able to shop for stuffs.

Overall, I like the story but not the characters (well not all of them)...

eries review!!! This will be about all three books but I will try very hard not to give spoilers about any!

What an interesting series! And such an easy read too! The last book I read was The Book of Paul which was amazing but intensely heavy (not in a bad way) so I picked this up and was amazed with how fast the story started and flew by! You definitely need to read this series in order. Although you may be able to pick up what is going on in each without the previous it will be much smoother if you read in order. And each goes so fast that you won’t even know you’ve read three books!

And speaking of the reading, the plot is really good. I don’t know a lot about King Arthur but this did seem to at least start from that story but it is a storyline all its own. Totally modern day wizards which I thought lent a really cool atmosphere to our little normal world.

The characters are a lot of fun. I think Ryan is my favorite but I do love a good heroine. She has gone through a lot but doesn’t let life or anything else stand in her way. Even when you think she’s done for she has a strength, sometimes lent to her by the two other main characters, Matt and Vane, but she always finds it within her to fight, no matter what the odds.

The two vying for her love are Matt (THE Merlin) and Vivane. I’m not really sure if I want her with either guy! This reminds me of Sophie’s Turn where both guys could be good for her and who doesn’t like a great bad boy but are either really good for her?!! I have to say I did like how it turned out but it could have gone either way. My poor heart was leaning one way one minute and then turning into a traitor the next. Both have pluses and minues but if you’ve read any of my other reviews on bad boys, you’ll know my personal fav was pretty much always Vane.

And Vane is a great character. I like Merlin and all but he seems so uppity to me, not really in a bad way but he holds so much back from Ryan that he really shouldn’t. He is trying to protect her and over and over again she gets upset with him because of it. And then there’s Vane. You never really know if he’s a bad guy or a good guy. I do know he’s a great character that I absolutely loved!

Overall, this is candy! I really needed this after a very busy week too! Trilogy about the paranormal with lots of romance! Who doesn’t like that?!! Oh and I have to add, Priya does SUCH A great job at ending these books. I had to do that fan your eyes thing and pretend I just got something in my eye when my hubby was looking!

Book Review- Ever my Merlin by Priya Ardis

In Book three, the underground volcanoes are erupting and causing Tsunamis all around the world. Ryan, Matt, Grey and the others are in India trying to stop the inevitable. Ryan calls on Vane for help. Vane wants Matt’s magic in return. Ryan has to make the decision. Matt feels betrayed and he uses Excaliber to help them escape. Matt enters a quest to find the cup of life. Ryan sneaks on to the trip and accompanies Matt. They end up in Sri Lanka at a famous Shrine looking for some kind of sign they are on the right track. Matt finds an artifact that once taken causes the mountain to shake. Ryan has to call on Vane for help against Matt’s wishes.
Ryan is then thrust into an adventure that she is the only one that can take. She is the sword bearer and only she can get the golden apple and Cronos’ eye. The fate of the world rests on what the eye can show in a vision. Total devastation awaits unless they can figure out what to do to stop it.
Ryan believes she can still save Vane and works along with Matt to find a solution. Matt keeps his plans close so Vane won’t learn what is going on. They still fight each other. Ryan is determined to find a way to save everyone from the destruction that is coming. She will have to sacrifice and take the leap of faith that Matt is unable to do.
This is the third book in the My Merlin Series. It has been a wild ride of sacrifice, sibling rivalry, death, destruction and love. This final installment being about the end of the world. It is action packed and full of dueling groups trying to stop what is coming. I really like Ryan. She is a regular girl with a big job. She also makes mistakes but tries to follow her heart. She is torn between the two brothers. She is fighter and protects fiercely. I knew she would be the one to make it come together and do what needed to be done. She put things together with Vane’s help and took control.
The book was a great adventure with loss and fear sprinkled in. Ryan has lost a lot and guilt rules her at times which adds to her humanity and likability. I love her sassiness and her intelligence. Great ending to a great series. I give it a 4 out of 5.
