This was a Christmas present and for a Firefly fan, this was so much fun! Imagine: interviews with all the actors and Joss Whedon (I pretty much love everything he creates!), scripts and anecdotes from all episodes, articles on creating this ‘verse, including the design of the ship to the costumes, weapons, and odd artefacts. This huge tome has it all! Have I said that it looks like an encyclopaedia too with its mock leather hardcover and oversize? I love it :O)

I may be a late arrival to the Firefly / Serenity 'Verse, but as with most people who have seen the series, I love it. There's just something that when I rewatch it that puts a big smile on my face. And so not having the previous Illustrated Companion Volumes and Still Flying that this book collects, I just had to get it, and just in time for the 10th anniversary too.

This book is gorgeous. From the faux leather effect binding when you first have it in your hands and when start thumbing through the 544 pages, you'll know you have a book that is loving crafted and compiled by people that loved Firefly.

The pages are packed with in-depth interviews with creator Joss Whedon and the cast and crew of the beloved series, plus full, uncut shooting scripts to all the episodes - with notes from cast and crew about each episode. Lots of rare photos of the cast, crew, props and costumes, as well as production art previously unavailable elsewhere are included also. There's also new stories from the writers of the original episodes too.

And exclusively for this edition, there are nine portrait photographs of the cast and a facsimile of one of the bank notes used in the series.

So if you're a fan of the show, and particularly if you haven't already got the three Firefly Companion Volumes that are collected here, I would definitely recommend getting this. Shiny!

I watched firefly with my s.o in 2016. He loved the show and was pretty sure I would enjoy it just as much, and he was right.
A sci-fi space adventure but in a wild western setting where Mandarin is one of the most common trade languages...what is not to love?
Sadly the series waa cancelled after 1 season but they wrapped things up by making a movie called 'Serenity'.
The cast is great, the characters are very well put together as is the script. The show made me cry, laugh amd feel anger and jealousy at times.
Thia book is about the show and its cast and crew as well as the fans and behind the scenes on script and props production.
If you are a fan of the show, you will want to read this book!

Awesome. Very detailed, and I like how they thought through the layout of the book. The episode scripts aren't just a throwaway because almost everything else is either placed inside or between them, so you end up glancing at stuff from the scripts even if you don't really care for reading through them. The interviews and character pages are very entertaining, and all the little stories spread throughout the script pages add up to a very engaging read.

A wonderful celebration of the show indeed, and particularly a gem for those interested in props and cinematography. But even if you just want to read about the characters and the actors and Joss Whedon, there's plenty of that to go around too.

Absolutely stunning. Presented in a gold embossed, faux leather cover, this book reveals all the secrets from the show. Full page photographs show costumes and characters in details, but not forgetting the smaller trinkets you want to see, like the evolution of Jayne's hat. There are interviews from every aspect of the cast; from the actors, creator, director, costume designers and prop makers, you're not left wanting for behind the scenes details about the show.

This anniversary edition also includes bonus photo prints of the cast and facsimile prints of the bank notes used in the show. A must buy for any Firefly and Serenity fan (or the perfect gift for one!) Do not pass it over!

I just finished watching Firefly and the Serenity movie for about the 5th or 6th time. So yeah, to say I love them is a bit of an understatement. If you love them too, this book is an awesome glimpse inside. Lots of info about the stories, characters, production details, etc. I did not read the show scripts that make up a big part of the book, but there’s plenty else there. And the book is beautiful- everything about it. Big, glossy pages, with lots of pictures and trivia facts. If you are a fan, this is a must.

Gorgeously produced with hours and hour worth of content, much of it behind the scenes. One of my favorite topics was the details and history of the many and myriad props from the show.

What more could a fan ask for?

Fantastic book for Firefly aficionados. I especially enjoyed the chapters written about each episode.
Book took forever because it kept getting buried under stack of other books I wanted to read.

This book is a beautiful thing, from details, stories, and background, to great images and the show scripts. I wish it had gone into more detail on the movie, but I loved it!!

This book is beautiful. I mean physically, it's beautiful. Lots of glossy full-page photographs, a soft leather cover, beautiful fonts and great formatting. The content is similarly amazing. It has something for everybody. There's a lot of material with the cast members talking about their experience on the show, which is the kind of thing I love. There's also really detailed information about the CGI on the show, how the various weapons and props were created from found items, scouting for shooting locations, the design of the ships of the 'verse, etc. That stuff is really fascinating, but for some people it's going to be more meaningful, particularly if they know a lot about guns and engines and stuff like that.

One thing I really loved learning about was the set building, lighting, sound design, music, etc. All of these things help to make up a show, but they all blend in to the atmosphere in such a way that it can be easy to forget how much hard work really goes in to all of it.

Every episode script is reproduced in full in this book. It's fun to read along and see the changes that were made during filming. Usually these are just small changes to tighten up the dialogue by dropping an extraneous line or two. It's an interesting way to learn about script-writing and how all of the little pieces come together to make the product you finally see on screen.

Long story short, I definitely recommend this book for anybody who loves Firefly and is interested in the behind-the-scenes aspects of film and TV production.

It may be ten years since Firefly, but the Browncoats are still as passionate as ever about their favorite, short-lived genre series. To celebrate, a brand new collectible is being released. “Firefly: A Celebration (Anniversary Edition)” is a leather-bound, five-hundred plus page book comprised of everything any Browncoat could want.

“Firefly: A Celebration (Anniversary Edition)” is much more in-depth than your average coffee table book. While full-page production photos of the cast are certainly eye-catching, it is really the complete copies of scripts (including “Serenity,” “The Train Job,” “Shindig,” and “Bushwhacked,” to name a few) that make up the bulk of the content here. Special messages, interviews, and other behind-the-scenes stories from Joss Whedon, and the important Firefly players round out the insight into this beloved series.

It all starts with “A Message from Your Captain,” that is really a reprint of a couple of quotes Nathan Fillion gave The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year. However, it sets the tone and theme for the entire book: a “thank you” to the fans. In fact, the book even features some very special fans by showcasing their art and talking about their original films and meeting them at conventions.

Full-page bios look at the characters but not the actors who slipped into their shoes and longer features and retrospectives come from Jane Espenson, Jose Molina, Stunt Coordinator Nick Brandon, and Production Designer Carey Meyer-- on everything from “The Story of Monkey Shines,” to designing the ships and other visual effects.

However, what we were personally most excited about were the costume sketches, location photos, and in-depth weapons and other gadgets’ photo gallery. The attention to detail was really what made the world of Firefly feel so real, despite being so far from anything we personally experienced.

While some of this content has been available to fans before—through companion series or online—having it all together, wrapped up in packaging worthy of any important, historical text, adds a certain weight of importance and beauty. We have to admit, though, it is a slight shame that the release is coming after Comic Con. The book comes with headshots of the cast, which would have been perfect for getting signed at the special reunion panel. Maybe hope for a sequel next year?

I finally finished and let me tell you it’s gorram hard trying to read this in the bathtub! The majority of the book is filled with all the episodes in their original script form along with interviews etc... It’s so freaking heavy at 544 pages that I can only read it so long before my arms get tired (30 mins) and I’m afraid I’m going to drop it in the tub. LOL. It’s basically 3 books combined into one; Firefly: The Official Companion: Volume One & Two along with Firefly: Still Flying: A Celebration of Joss Whedon’s Acclaimed TV Series. So, if you already own any of those and have listened to the dvd commentary then you probably don’t need to get this unless you want one shiny, badass coffee table book. You know, its heavy weight & thick leathery texture kind of make it feel like the ultimate Firefly bible. Amazon keeps running out of Firefly: The Celebration so I urge you to buy it for the $28 or $31 if it’s available.

This is a very aptly named it book. It is indeed 500+ pages celebrating all things Firefly. A large bulk of the book is dedicated to the scripts for all 13 episodes, along with some commentary from the actors and creators. While I normally don't enjoy reading this scripts in general, I had a good time with this. It's because I'm so familiar with the show I could perfectly picture the scenes and the character's voices and delivery. Along with the scripts there is plenty of other stuff. Interviews, behind the scenes, production art, etc. It's a great all-encompassing book for a Firefly fan.

This book really lives up to the title, "A Celebration." It is a commemoration of everything that made the tv show Firefly great. It's packed full of interviews, behind the scenes stories, art work, on-set photographs, scripts for every episode and every scene aired and un-aired, original fiction by the writers of the show and more. I thought I'd heard about every on-set prank or behind the scenes tidbit there was to know, but this book had a lot of surprises in store for me. It's a treat and a must-have for anyone who considers themselves a Browncoat.

For anyone who watched--and loved--the sadly-brief TV show (and cult classic), Firefly, this book is a MUST HAVE!! It includes the scripts for each of the episodes, including the translations of their "other language"--which is Mandarin Chinese, BTW. It has diagrams of the ship--Serenity, as well as some of the weaponry, clothing and other items. Lots of photographs, and interviews and behind-the-scenes clips complete this awesome book! I SO wish the TV show had made it past the first season... *sigh*

For a long time I just read snippets of this book here and there because I wanted to make it last forever. Eventually though as I got towards the end I just had to finish it. It was wonderful as was expected. The handful of new short stories were great and all the interviews and stories were fantastic. Great tribute to a great show. I can't put into words how much I loved it.

So much fun! If you are a Joss Whedon fan, you know these scripts are great. But if you are a Firefly fan, this is the mother load! Scripts! Pictures! Drawings! Character info! Interviews with actors! With writers! Directors! Special effects people! Costume people! The custodian! (Okay, they may have missed the custodian...). This is truly "A Celebration" of this show. A must for all Browncoats!

Fabulous. If you're a browncoat, it's shiny. Created with love, this book is something very special.

If you're new to the series, go watch the episodes, we'll wait here for you.

I am ashamed to say I never saw the original series, but now own the blu rays and this awesome book (and some of the graphic novels too).

There's a lot in here if you want background on the scripts, the thought processes, the decision making, and so on. But, I find that it leans more heavily into the nostalgia of "hey wasn't Firefly great?" when I personally don't think the show holds up to the test of time.

It's got everything a Browncoat could want: scripts from all the episodes, interviews with cast, writers and creator Joss Whedon. Costume and set designs. Even a section on episodes that never made it to the screen! For such a massive book it took me no time to read it... Twice.
