One bite has never been a life changing decision but it is now — to bite or not to bite that is the question.

All Lucius needs is his family. They might be a mismatched and unconventional group but they’re the only “real” family he knows and wants. What Lucius doesn’t need is the strange, beautiful man who arrives as a last minute dinner guest and knocks him and his wolf on his ass, literally.

Just being in the same room with the mysterious Nicu proves disastrous. Lucius knows without a doubt he doesn’t need the havoc Nicu threatens to bring to his predictable, but comfortable existence. But when he stands to lose the man who is tearing his life apart, Lucius realizes he doesn’t know what he needs at all.

K-lee Klein grew up in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia and now lives only two hours away in Calgary, Alberta. Her life is blessed by three now-grown (but still spoiled) kids and an adorable grandson who calls her Gwaa Gwaa. She has a patient husband of over thirty years and spends her days being bossed around by a kitten named Poe, a senior feline called, Miss Chili, and a canine who thinks she's a princess, Chewie.

K-lee’s writing muse is terribly temperamental so to keep him close by and in-check, she had him inked on her left calf. Yet she still writes on his schedule and inspiration, and quite honestly, he can be a bit of a drama queen. K-lee writes mostly contemporary but has forayed into paranormal and urban fantasy, and her favorite tropes to write and read are hurt-comfort, friends to lovers, opposites attract, and relationships with children. Her biggest accomplishment as an author was overcoming all the hurdles to transition from publisher releases to her first self-published book.

Although K-lee considers herself to be an extroverted introvert and revels in her solitude, she very much enjoys traveling to conferences to meet up with friends old and new. She’s grateful for all the people in her life who accept her as she is and support her through the ups and downs as a mom, wife, friend, and joyfully obsessed writer.

Dull story with entirely too much maudlin, drama. I wasn't invested in anyone, and half way it I decided it was time to move on.

Lucius' Bite is the start of a new fantasy/paranormal series with a unique twist on the mating theme. Lucius is an Arctic Wolf shifter whose den family consists of misfits they've gathered along their way alone in the world, away for different reasons from their real families. There is Lucius, Manny (an emotionally damaged Mountain Lion shifter), and Kristof (a bright and sunny Bear? shifter). Rounding out the bunch is the den mother and Mama to all, Ali, a male white witch who completely rules the roost. They're a happy and unlikely mix of friends who have become family over time.

Lucius is knocked off his feet, literally, when Nicu comes to visit, seemingly out the blue. He starts to feel for the long-dreaded Romanian gypsy who seems to know everything about him. It seriously freaks him out too -- previously, he's never had a real relationship and he's liked it that way. But, as the two get closer some of the secrets start to come to light, about Lucius' past, and about the reason that Nicu has traveled halfway around the world to meet him and already in love with him.

This story really intrigued me in a lot of ways. First off, it pulled me in immediately, with a really funny first scene and a well crafted one. Within a couple pages it is easy to see just how much this little makeshift family loves one another. I liked Lucius and Nicu right off the bat. They're very different. Lucius is often surly and very easily fits into the bad-boy camp, while Nicu's looks and voice (written very well to come off as immediately foreign -- that was nicely done) make him immediately exotically sexy. Even with obvious duplicity in the reason for his visit (in a strange way) he's completely open and earnest and genuinely sweet.

I was impressed in the first half of the book with the delivery of information. It is doled out sparingly and at opportune moments, but just underhanded enough to keep you guessing along with Lucius, even though we, as readers, are privy to just a bit more of it than him, always keeping us one step ahead. I did have a few problems with it later in the book though, and I can't decide if it is personal bias or the fact that this author is saving up some of that information for the next book instead of giving it to us.

The main problem that I had was this: Nicu shows up about a week before the time in which this situation and relationship must be complete, but cannot say anything about it directly to Lucius. But, Lucius is a tough nut to crack, and he hides a lot from the information right in front of him. To me, that wasn't his fault, though I'm sure a case could be made otherwise. So I wondered, why couldn't Nicu have come earlier? It would have given Lucius more time to warm to a relationship at a more realistic pace. Was that explained and I don't remember it? Possible. Was it a decision made to motivate the plot forward? I don't know… Does anyone else care after finishing this besides me? Probably not. So take that with a grain of salt. It just made me a bit uncomfortable with all the pressure put on Lucius in the end. Still, that's not illegal or anything, I mean I cared enough about the characters to feel that way. So it's definitely in one of those grey areas for me, where I really can't decide how I feel about it.

I'm very much looking forward to the next book in this series. It is about one of the family that I really loved in this book and I'm looking forward to getting some of those answers… I hope! I'll just have to wait and see. I still really liked this and I liked that the author used some unconventional themes to diverge a bit from the shifter status quo. There were a few times during my reading that the pace lulled a bit. At times it would move quite fast and then settle for some introversion on the MC's part.

In the end, if this author can continue to bring new plots to this series and they don't end up following in line too similarly to this book, I know I will really enjoy this series. I'm looking forward to finding out!

This was an okay read for me but I was really hoping for more.

There just wasn’t enough to the story. No drama or any mystery just a story about Lucius, a shifter who doesn't want a mate ever and Nicu his spirit mate that won't survive if Lucius doesn't make him his, then there's a few quirky family members that you don't really get to know. While I loved Lucius and Nicu and I thought their chemistry was great, the story quickly got frustrating for me. It waivered back and forth throughout from being quite good to being slow where I found myself drifting off and having to go back and re-read parts.

There were just too many unanswered questions or explanations as to why things happened the way they did and even though this is a first book in the series I wish somethings had of been cleaned up a bit more. I’m guessing when other books of this series are released some of those questions will be answered.

It was ok but it didn't blow my mind. I was a little annoyed that the family trusted Nicu right away and were even mean to Lucius at times, which was supposed to be part of this family.

The secondary characters feel almost unnecessary, Manny and Kris especially, their appearances are short and not really relevant to the plot. Ali was the most important supporting character and I didn't like him, I felt he was annoying and bordering bully with his powers, especially the mind reading one, it left Lucius always open and exposed.

I felt sorry for Lucius, everybody seemed to expect a lot from him and nobody actually helped him until the very end when it's a matter of life or death. A bit melodramatic and, at a point, I got the impression Lucius and Nicu took turn for fainting and needing support.

I have to be honest, I actually had no idea what to expect when I bought the book. I got this book from an excerpt where a werewolf was changed into a chicken by a witch and almost eaten by a werecat. Now what was I supposed to make of that. I bought the book initially because it appealed to my sense of fun and it was really well written.

There are, of course, plenty of well written books out there and a lot of them are awfully dry. There are also a lot of m/m books out there and a lot of them are high on sex and short on story. So I wasn't entirely convinced the early promise would be maintained.

Well, it wasn't. It wasn't maintained it was improved. I won't go into the story here but I will say that it's a rich and deep one. There are one or two places where I found it a little contrived which was a relief as perfection can be hard to swallow.

The characters are unique and individual, with their discrete personalities and quirks. They knit together to be a web of fascinating conversation, interesting history and a lot of very quaint and endearing qualities.

I have never read a book quite like this and I'm not sure I could categorise it. It's certainly not your average werewolf, or shapeshifter story. It's not a 'gay' book, not really erotic at all, except where it really needs to be. It's about gypsies and legends, curses and cures, vulnerabilities and strengths, sacrifices and wounds, and soul and spirit and love. If it were a carpet it would be a Persian rug. If it were a spider web it would stretch to the moon.

Lucien will make you grown with frustration and want to throttle the life out of him before the end. I can guarantee no one who reads it will fail to want to smack him at some point. But you'll fall in love with him too, just like Nicu does, like all of them do.

Would I recommend this book.... HELL YEAH.

I have to admit that I prefer my paranormal romances to be on the light side, and I was very pleased to discover this new author and her young and cute characters. Lucius is part of a family of misfits, i.e. Ali, alias “Mama Bear”, a white witch who manages an households of shifter rejects, Lucius, an artic wolf, Manny, a mountain lion, and Kristof, a bear. Lucius doesn’t care much for humans and so he is pretty upset when Ali announces he has invited three of them for the Yule dinner, and one of the three is supposed to be Lucius’s blind date. Nicu is a Romanian gypsy, young and innocent and with a purpose in mind, to find his spirit mate; Nicu knows Lucius is the one, but he wants for the other man to make his own decision, not to be forced into a mating.

What I liked of this novel is that the two guys are young and yes, also scared by these new feelings that somehow they are not able to understand. Nicu is probably the one who is stronger in his beliefs, even if he is not as physically strong as Lucius. Lucius is stubborn and scared of letting his heart open, but he is not a bad guy; I had the feeling he had a lot of growing to do considering an emotional evolution, but with a little push on the right direction, I was sure he was able to reach it.

The novel is the first in a series, Family of Misfits, and while I really liked Ali’s characters, and it will be interesting to read his story, what I’m really looking forward is Manny’s ones. From what I understood, Manny has some mental issues, he is naïve like a child, but he is fully grown for everything else; that story will be a delicate one to write, but if done in the right way, it will be so good.

Another interesting point is the modern society where this family is living, a Canadian small town where humans and paranormal creatures are living together, mostly in harmony.

Notes:

Taking way too long to bring mate into the picture.

His "hiney"? Is he in his 90s?

Interesting premise, well written and sloooow. Nothing's happening and only halfway through are we getting a new location which is simply outside in the woods.

Birthmarks are not tattoos.

Oblivious to blankets. They conveniently disappear when they are trying to hold each other.

Excellent melodramatic peril.

Would be a higher rating if things weren't drawn out quite as much throughout the whole book, even the peril part. I usually think those "Oh my god he's going to die!" Sections are way to short but this one was almost too long.

The main storyline was okay, but a bit to melodramatic for my own taste. Everything circled around one simple fact, to accept your won spirit mate and claim him or lose him forever. Or simply kill him and draw your own fate without a spirit mate who would complete you like no one else. I have to admit, I felt annoyance while reading this story. It wasn't a good emotion.

Je me suis bien marrée!

I was lucky, really lucky, to be born into a pretty great family. Granted, we've had our moments and our disagreements, but in the end I've always known they would be there for me, no matter what. I know a lot of people don't get that type of family through birth. But, some of them make their own family with friends and loved ones. And, I'm here to tell you right now, I would pick Lucius and his misfit family any day of the week and twice in Sunday. They're a funny, loving, crazy bunch and being with them is some of the most fun I've had in a long time. This was my first introduction to a K-lee Klein story and I can assure you, it won't be the last.

Lucius is a lone wolf whose mother died at childbirth, and his father was killed by a wolf who wanted to take over his pack. When Lucius tried to get the pack elders to see this, the pack sent him away with only the clothes on his back. Ali is a white witch born of two black witches, something never before recorded. Manny's parents threw him out because he is gay, after Manny had to suffer several severe beatings, and that's a big no-no for a mountain lion. Kristof is a big, bumbling bear shifter and the newest stray that Ali brought home to their family of misfits. Lucius and Manny have been with Ali for seven years, ever since they found each other, and Ali found them. Lucius wouldn't have it any other way, and being as he's pretty opinionated, sarcastic, and very snarky, Lucius has no problem expressing himself.

So, when Lucius finds out that Ali has invited his human friends (dirty, smelly, disgusting species) to Yule dinner, Lucius is so not happy. Lucius knows that not all humans are anti-supernatural, but he still prefers to stay away from them as he's had some bad experiences. Meeting Nicu, however, throws a whole bunch of crazy physical sensations at Lucius that he hasn't got a clue how to handle. When Nicu tells him they are spirit mates, and, in fact, Lucius's own wolf insists they are mates, Lucius freaks the hell out. He doesn't do relationships. He doesn't feel these types of things. He has one-night stands and hooks ups, not a lover and certainly not a mate. Oh no. And, what the hell? Lucius sure as heck doesn't believe in soul mates or spirit mates, whatever.

In the next few days though, as Nicu becomes more and more important to Lucius and Lucius begins to accept how he is feeling, he starts to believe that Nicu is his mate. The fact that Nicu has started suffering from seizures is scaring the crap out of Lucius and he doesn't know what to do. His wolf insists say take, claim, and bite Nicu, but Lucius isn't so sure about the whole biting thing. When Nicu's bunica, grandmother, shows up from Romania, all bets are off. A tiny little old woman yelling in Romanian. Yeah, that should be relaxing. Luckily for all, Ali knows exactly how to handle her.

I do love a good shifter story, and this definitely qualifies as good. I'm thrilled that I was introduced to this 'Family of Misfits' and I so enjoyed Lucius and Nicu's story. It was wonderful watching Lucius break free of his fears and learn to love and trust Nicu. Now, I'm excited looking forward to the next book. Thank you, K-lee!

Was good reading material but to dramatical for my own liking. Its about a guy Lucius who had very bad experience when he was young. His dad was killed and he couldn't forget about it. Now in present he is someone who has sex with strangers and don't believe in love or even in having a mate as a wolf. His life get turned upside down when he meets Nicky. The problems is that Nicky is his spiritual mate.

Plot is not very hard. As a reader you get along with Nicky who is to good hearted and can't say out laud to Lucius that he has to be bitten or he will die. So drama, drama, drama and a lot of "I can't bit him".

I love shifters and this world was a ton of fun. The big, burly bear shifter, the mountain lion shifter who had suffered so much, but still had such hope in his heart, and Lucius, irascible, grumpy, snappy and snarly, and of course, Ali, the witch who binds the family together.

Throw in Nicu and the sweet and salty Bunica and you've got the mixings for a great story.

Synopsis: Lucius is an arctic wolf shifter. When he was a teenager, he was kicked out by his pack, and the family that he found after that is his real family. Lucius doesn't want anyone who isn't shifter or a witch joining his pack, but his best friend has invited some humans to enjoy the holidays with them. When Lucius meets Nicu for the first time, he faints and starts turning wolf, which has never happened before.
Nicu has travelled a long way to find his true mate. He doesn't want Lucius to know what will happen to Nicu if Lucius rejects him, but as time goes on, Nicu can't hide his reactions that occur when Lucius doesn't acknowledge him as his mate.

What I liked: how close knit the little family was, and how they called each other out on their crap. I liked that Ali was able to control Lucius by turning him in to various animals when he got too uppity. I liked the slightly different take within the shifter lore.

What I didn't like: it honestly felt as though this were just one long run on sentence. It wasn't, but the entire story made me feel king of breathless with how fast everything went. The entire story took place over a period of three days, and it felt as though it was going full tilt the entire time. Lucius and Nicu didn't really feel like fleshed out characters to me. Also, I never really understood why Nicu couldn't tell Lucius what would happen if they didn't claim each other for mates. Would Nicu go up in spontaneous combustion? Would Lucius?

In the past few years, I’ve read a lot of paranormal books. Many of them are about shifters, and although most of them are a lot alike, I still enjoy them because most of them are interesting and…well…hot. Every once in a while, I feel privileged to read a paranormal/shifter book that puts a different spin on the whole well used storyline. In my opinion, Lucius Bite is everything that I love about reading romance and more.

One of the main reasons why I loved this book is: the feel of love and camaraderie between all of the main characters in the book. Lucius has an array of mismatched roommates that are more like family than friends. Each of his roommates have different abilities about them, and although they are all very different in personality and instinct, they all fit together quite nicely. I liked the way these men really loved each other and I could sense a true bond between them.

Also, there is a lot more to Lucius than meets the eye. At first glance, he tries to convince himself and others that he really doesn’t need anyone. Oh, he cares about his roommates, but he doesn’t believe in love, nor does he want too. But this changes the moment that Nicu walks in the door. I’ve heard the saying: The bigger they are, the harder they fall, and in Lucius’ sake, this is very true. Unfortunately, because of Lucius’ past, he’s afraid to love and be loved. He constant lives in fear of his wolf side hurting others, and once he meets and falls for Nicu, he is almost obsessed with keeping him from his wolf side and instincts.

Nicu is another character that I fell in love with. Because he’s a gypsy, he’s also got some special gifts. I adored the unselfish and unconditional love he gave Lucius. Nicu’s willingness to allow to Lucius to come to terms with his own love and fears made him not only one of the most kindhearted heroes that I’ve read in a long time, but a true hero in every sense of the word. His patience and undeniable love and respect he has for Lucius was beautiful to read. I loved Nicu, and I thought he and Lucius were perfect for each other.

This is the first book I’ve read by K-lee Klein. I really enjoyed this author’s way of really getting into the heart and soul of her characters. There is also a really good balance between humor and just the right amount of angst in this book that kept this reader enthralled with the story and continuously guessing at what was going to happen next. I truly loved all of the main characters in the book and I CAN’T wait until the next book in the Family of Misfits series. If you are looking for a unique and sexy paranormal romance, Lucius Bite is definitely the book for you!

Lucius, Ali, Manny and Kristof made such a unique little family. I liked each and every one of them and already have a soft spot for Manny, who deserves an extra special mate. I thought Lucius and Nicu made a great couple and their different personalities helped to balance each other, but all the rules regarding the spirit mate aspect of their relationship became a little tiresome and redundant. Will Lucius bite Nicu or won't he? Lucius had to make a life-changing decision in a relatively short amount of time (involving a man who was basically still a stranger), but he was also being deliberately kept in the dark by Nicu and Ali about some pretty important things because they weren't allowed to break the rules and tell him what he needed to do. What about all those spirit mates out there who may not even be aware there is such a thing as spirit mates (or the rules) and they still can't be told about something that could affect them the rest of their lives (or possibly put their lives in danger)? Lucius's aversion to biting Nicu and the resulting consequences took up a big part of the storyline but some things about spirit mates and Lucius's past still remain unclear to me . I loved the humorous interactions between Lucius and his den brothers/mama so I'm looking forward to future stories. And since I'm assuming both Ali and his future mate know all about spirit mates, maybe their story can avoid repeating a lot of the same drama as this one.

That bastard! He couldn’t. He wouldn’t. He fucking did! Lucius was a goddamn chicken – a goddamn chicken with goddamn chicken feathers and goddamn chicken legs.

K-Lee Klein has had me hooked on her books since Lazy Valentines. If you haven’t read that one yet, please do!

This book is way different than that one. Shapeshifters. Witches. Mates. Love. She blends them beautifully, especially when Nicu, the mate to the prickly Lucius shows up and wants to solidify their bond, if you know what I mean. (Wink.)

This was my introduction to the family, so I suppose it’s only fitting that I tell you who is who.
Lucius – Wolf shifter. The main character of the book. He’s moody and snarky and hates being turned into a goddamn chicken.

Manny – Mountain Lion shifter. He’s sweet and loving, even if he’s a bit naïve about life and love. What happens to him in this book broke my heart.

Kristof – Bear shifter (and my favorite in the household). Big, loveable, goofy. Fiercely loyal and dependable.

Ali – White witch. He’s the glue that binds this family of misfits. He also happens to be one of the most powerful witches in North America. (And the title character for book 2.)

Nicu – Ah, he’s the enigma. 100% human. Right? Yes and no.

This is what family is about. Coming together in times of need, holding each other in sorrow and pain, loving each other no matter what. And there are a lot of times that’s necessary in this story. Whether it’s Lucius being a pain (okay, that’s most of the time), Manny having his dreams crushed, Kristof being claimed by me (shhhh, I’m trying to sneak that one in), or Ali pining for his own soul mate, these men stick together.

And make for a great story.

4 star review by Marieke

This book was meant to be a comedy, I think. And yes it was funny from time to time, but mostly it was a great story. The combination of shifters, witches and other paranormal creatures was very nice.

The first four main characters were very entertaining and I instantly loved Ali, Manny and Kristof. Lucius however wasn’t my favorite though. In the beginning he was prejudice and grumpy, but I guess that was pretty funny with the way Ali corrected him. (Believe me you’ll laugh your pants off)

After Nicu enters the story, it gets interesting. Lots of things happen to both Lucius and Nicu, but Lucius stays reluctant to mate. There is something more going on than we know yet. Nicu is a Romani, and has some powers of his own, although they are not strong. His knows what will happen to him if Lucius won’t claim him, but he’s not allowed to tell. Things got a bit angsty there, at the end.

I personally got a bit irritated with the way Lucius’s mind worked, but I’m sure that was just me. The story itself was very good. The plot was wonderful and the characters very likable, even Lucius had his good things.

Nicu is a wonderful man and I’m glad he got his happy end, his grandmother was hilarious and Ali…Ali is my favourite. Thank god we get to see that his story will probably be next. I just hope we get all of the boy’s stories, because they seem like great characters.

All in all a good read. If I forget my personal irritation with Lucius I can honestly say this was a very nice story to read, that I liked a lot.

3.5*

Lucius lives in a mismatched family with “Mama Bear” Ali, a white witch and two shifters Kristof and Manny. In his world that´s all he needs and definitely not a spirit mate. So when Nicu comes knocking on their door Lucius is not pleased at all to find his mate. To top that Nicu is human, a Romanian gypsy but nonetheless just human. That´s not something Lucius can tolerate well, in short he doesn´t want to know his mate.

I liked the angle this author took on the mate aspect. A spiritual mate, which can but doesn’t have to be your love as well as what could happen if a person rejects his/her mate. But that was also the problem I had with it. This story was so focused on the what can happen part and the intimate moments between the main characters. I missed some normal time, a little get to know each other and more background information about Nicu and Lucius. So it felt sometimes too flat and left a few questions unanswered for me.

The secondary characters were interesting. You got to see a few bits and pieces about their pasts and that was quite intriguing. In itself that´s not a problem but in this case my focus shifted to the secondary characters a lot and I wanted to know more about them while reading the book…sometimes more than I was interested in what was going on with Lucius and Nicu. Nonetheless Lucius and Nicu were very likeable characters, who had a lot of growing up to do and also had great chemistry together.

Overall this was a light read, not much angst but with a lot of humour in it. I liked it and look forward to book two, which is Ali´s story.

A copy of the ebook was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Book: Lucius’ Bites Book #1
Series: Family of Misfits
Author: K-Lee Klein
Publisher: MLR Press LLC
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rated: Mature M/M

When reading a book with the genre paranormal romance I keep thinking what could an author do now to make it ‘different’? How is the book going to WOW me? Enter Ms. K-Lee Klein with her very first entry for this series, book one of her Family of Misfits.

First let me say the supporting cast members are the best. The house hold is comprised of Ali the “Mama,” a white witch, Lucius, an artic wolf, Manny, a mountain lion, and Kristof, Lucius, an artic wolf, Manny, a mountain lion, and Kristof, a bear.

Ali invites three humans for their holiday dinner, which includes Nicu a Romanian Gypsy searching for his spirit mate. Lucius is happy with things just the way they are. He has found a home and a family, something he had lost a long time ago. No ties to anyone but them, one night stands and no relationships, havoc ensues when Nicu comes to dinner.

Nicu knows Lucius is his ‘spirit mate; now to convince Lucius. In a first book for a series, the author has a lot of scenes to set and this Book One has much information for the reader to disseminate. Between the angst between Nicu and Lucius, there is getting to know the family, who I am looking forward to see again.

Lucius and Nicu find their way thank heavens, as love does conquer all. I think Book #2 is Mama Bears Book and I am looking forward to it….Wonder wo will be Ali’s spirit mate and if Grandma has gone home…..Loved her

So I had JUST finished Tabby’s pride and was in a shifter kinda mood.  What I got was so much better that your typical shifter book.  And what I got shocked me.  Why you ask?  Well after reading many, MANY shifter books, they all tend to read the same.  So its really hard to find a truly unique shifter book.  Well this it.  There is no pack politics, cause Ali “Mamma” has taken in misfits and made them a family. Its not just wolf shifters, we have bear shifter, a lion shifter, and if that were not enough there is a witch thrown in for good measure.  Perfection.

Lucius knows about spirit mates and he does NOT want one.  Yet he gets him anyway, like it or not.  Nicu knows that Lucius is his mate but knows that getting Lucius to accept him is going to be a tough road ahead.  You can feel the chemistry they share and watching Lucius fight it leaves you shaking your head wondering why he just won’t accept Nicu.  Yet when I found out why Lucius was so against claiming his mate, it all fell into place for me.  When he finally does, you will find your self rooting for them to have their HEA.

I fell in love with the other “misfits” as well.  Together they have made their family, not the one they were born into but the one they created.  The first chapter alone had me laughing so hard.  You can tell they love each other and take care of their own.  So if your looking for something outside of the “norm” shifter book get this one.  When I finished this one I couldn’t wait to read Ali’s story.

So this story is kinda one big long moment. It fails a little bit for me because of that. It's a case of insta-love that everything takes place over the course of about 2-3 days. Sure the connection between Lucius and Nicu is strong and apparent in the writing, but I would have liked more of a story going on while they figured out what they were to each other.

Now that being said this was a different take on the mate bond thing and the whole spirit bonded spin was nice actually. I liked the potential of it all. I did feel like by the ending of the story though I hadn't gotten the full explanation of what everything meant. I liked this but wanted a bit more overall.

Lucius' history makes things difficult for him to accept what's going on. He's scared of letting anyone in and Nicu's commitment to him makes it even scarier. But he wants and that keeps drawing him forward. Nicu is so committed to his path that you never question where he's at. He's made his decision and it was made before he even met Lucius.

Really though I loved Ali. All the other guys in the house were great. But Ali was awesome and kickass.

Overall I'd probably give this 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up for the fact that this made me smile.

I downloaded Lucius' Bite simply because I have enjoyed other books by this author and knew she had the third in the series coming out soon. I had read the product description and although I am not a huge fan of books that include witches, wolves, bears and lions that shift, I thought I would give it a go.
I ended up reading this book in One sitting, this story grabbed hold of me and took me on the most incredible journey! The character are all misfits, they have all been disowned by their families and each one will pull on your heart and make you want to befriend and protect them! They are strong, caring loving, unconventional and have formed the most nurturing family.
The author obviously has a great imagination to have come up with this storyline which kept me amazed throughout! This is such a easy book to read and even though my emotions were on high alert, a pure joy.
I am only glad I have the Second book to start as there is a cliffhanger at the end of this book which would drive me crazy!
This is a must read!!
Highly recommend!!!!

This was an interesting take on destined mates. I think I like the concept of spirit mates. I'm not going to say what that means because that is a major part of the story. I just like that things didn't fall together super easy and there were hiccups along the way. It made for an enjoyable read.

Sadly though, I think my favorite character in the whole book was not a main character. Sure, I like the main ones, but Ali was my favorite out of them all. He was funny and just had a way about him. He was either comforting or correcting what he considered his charges. You could tell he would protect them with his life. He also had a way of talking that I giggled at several times, and I absolutely loved his threats.

With reading the end, I am hoping that Ali's book is the next in the series. I can't wait to read it and find out what happens to him. Good read.
