Good overview of being an effective technical trainer with ideas and suggestions. The book focuses very much on memorizing terms and specifics, but the test itself is more situational based and doesn't mention as many specific terms as I was expecting. That would have been more helpful information.
One of the crapiest technical books I have ever read. Same thing explained three times with minor rephrasing. It's as if the author was paid but the number of words written. Helped me pass the Essentials exam but I cannot say that there is a direct relation between the exam questions and the topics covered in the book. The book covers a ton of specific terms that aren't even mentioned in the exam.
I mostly enjoyed the book but I'm a computer science school teacher I thought there would be hints on Group Evaluation and how to teach the content of complex subjects. I had no intention of passing the exam so I can't say if it is good enough to succeed.
Unreadable, illogical and to my amazement self contradicting. An example of the later, question 14 of chapter 7 and question 18 of chapter 6 describe similar situations. However the correct answer to question 14 (ch 7.) is an answer that in question 18 (ch 6.) is given as incorrect, because it will embarrass the learners.
Another error is the focus on avoiding vocalisations, it is correct that avoiding vocalisations will make you, as a teacher, look more professional, however all research on the matter indicate that vocalisations are a cue for learners to know that something difficult is coming and that therefor they should pay extra attention. In short vocalisations help the learners.

It's the usual IT book in format. But, I must say I like it so far. I'm learning a lot about the CompTIA CTT+ and so far, I can tell you that I wasn't really a trainer until reading this book. I would go so far as to challenge anyone serious about the profession of teaching 'hard' stuff to people who really need to learn for their careers. If that's your goal, then this book is a MUST READ!
Take it in bite sized portions, and then pass the test for the CTT+ Essentials. That's my plan anyway! See you on the other side.
