When her boyfriend and the father of her unborn child issues his ultimatum to either abort the baby or move out, Julie Miller hopes to find comfort and support from her mom when she returns to her small hometown in Wyoming. Instead, a surprise awaits her when she finds that her mom is traveling the country with friends and a stranger, Mark Thomas, is renting her mom’s house in her absence. Not long after she arrives, an unexpected snowstorm buries the town and Julie and Mark, a man carrying his own painful past, are trapped together for several days.

The premise of this story is one that has been told again and again. Although sweet and loving, this story of love and loss with the eternal hope for a second chance at happily-ever-after between these two characters is rushed and under-developed. There is some heat between the two but bland. Both lead characters are likable and the interaction between them is presented well. However, with the seriousness of each character’s issues, there just wasn’t enough substance to make me believe in their story and the timing seemed very unrealistic. The addition of an unlikable and rather needy character named Sarah adds a little spark to the story in the form of confrontation and humor.

This is a new-to-me author. Her writing flows well and the book is a quick and easy read.

**Thanks to Lacey Wolfe, the author, and to “A Tasty Read” blog for the copy I received.**

Actually found this to be a cute read and a good start to a series. Hope that in the other books they have snippets into the lives of past characters.

Review:

FINDING HOME is the first book I have read by Lacey Wolfe. I found myself intrigued by the blurb of this story because it focuses on finding joy outside of what should have been happiness. That probably doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I guess what I mean is that Julie has just found out she is pregnant, albeit unexpectedly, but pregnant none the less. She should be celebrating with her boyfriend and getting ready for the arrival of her baby. Instead, she is heading home to her mother for some needed advice after jack-ass boyfriend drops a bombshell ultimatum: have an abortion or get out. And Mark seems to have been happy at one time, but is now living in a small town and telling very little about himself or his past. Until Julie shows up. Both should have been living happily in their lives, but had to adjust to changes, ultimately stumbling upon that elusive thing called contentment in the one place they least expected it.

And Julie shows up with a grand entrance. Imagine her surprise when she finds a gorgeous man cooking in the kitchen that her mother should be in. To add to her troubles, dear mother has decided to take up traveling with a few friends and failed to mention such details to her. What’s worse? Now she’s snowed in with Mark and she has nowhere else to go. But Mark is quick to offer his hospitality to Julie.

The two connect rather quickly and learn a lot about each other along the way. Come to find out Mark has suffered quite a bit of loss in his life that no one knows about except for Julie. Because of his loss, Mark is hesitant to allow anyone to get close to him again. And Julie, of course, now has serious trust issues to overcome after being blind-sided by her ex-boyfriend. She struggles with being able to decide if what she is experiencing with Mark is true, or simply his way of easing past his own grief. As much as she would love to allow things to progress between them, she knows that she cannot allow their relationship to get any deeper if it is not based on reality.

This novella is a quick read at just about 100 pages. I enjoyed the fact that Ms. Wolfe was able to give the characters some depth within such a limited amount of time. While the end of the story seemed a bit rushed, it did manage to include the major components needed for a good read. Mark’s story of loss wasn’t a huge surprise to me once it was revealed. But I appreciated that Ms. Wolfe kept the reactions consistent on a realistic level. The story didn’t seem far-fetched or forced, but rather a story of real people with real lives and feasible reactions.

I enjoyed that Ms. Wolfe included many aspects to Julie’s pregnancy within the story. As a first-time mother, she is a bit deficient in matters pregnancy-related. Her hormones are all over the place and she oftentimes acts silly or unrestrained. Luckily, Mark, having been through a pregnancy with a family member quickly figured out Julie’s predicament and immediately lends a hand. Also funny is the bouts of jealousy from both Julie and Mark. One of my favorite things in books is the jealousy that rises up; especially when the main characters have yet to acknowledge their own feelings.

The only thing that I didn’t like was that, I felt, the writing could have been tightened up just a bit. Don’t get me wrong because I am not saying it was bad. But there were a few spots in the story where I had to re-read, or would think to myself something like “that could have been written to flow together a little better”. I don’t know if anyone will know what I am talking about. But have you ever been reading and you read a certain section of a book, and while you are continuing to read, you are having thoughts about what you just read? I probably sound crazy. But that is what I do sometimes when I read. Almost like working the story out in my head as I continue to read. And that is what happened a few times as I read and thought about some of the chosen wording. But this is extremely minor in the grand scheme of reviewing this book.

Overall, FINDING HOME is a sweet contemporary romance with very light sexual components. A story of loss, love, and finding out where happiness truly lies. Because happiness doesn’t always turn up where we expect it to. For a quick read to pass the time with a sweet story of two people who find out where home really is, Ms. Wolfe’s book is guaranteed to satisfy.

My review:

Finding Home by Lacey Wolfe is a romance novella which is well-written with lovable characters. It was Lacey Wolfe's first book for me to read and I truly enjoyed it. It was easy to read, the relationship and attraction between Julie and Mark was remarkable and last, but not least, there were interesting topics woven into the story.

Regarding the plot:

Julie's boyfriend and father to her unborn child gives Julie a choice - to get an abortion or leave and Julie decides to leave. When she shows up at her mother's house, Julie finds a handsome guy who is renting out the house from Julie's mother. Julie and Mark are forced to stay in the house and unexpected things start to happen.

Julie is very curious and feels a desire to know more about Mark who has a lot of things he wants to hide. Nobody seems to know who he is and why is he in Clearwater. Unexpected love starts to grow and as the feelings grow stronger, both of them need to ask the difficult questions - Mark has to decide if he wants to become a father of another man's child and Julie needs to learn to trust a love.

I really enjoyed their relationship, it was hot, complicated and sweet and it deals with quite serious issues both characters have to face.

Regarding the characters:

I loved Julie. She was vulnerable, sweet, tough and quick. I found it cute how her hormones got the better part of her! I enjoyed Mark, who has so many good sides and a heavy pat to carry around with. Mark was really well-written by the author and was the stronger character in the book. They balanced each other and supported each other through the story.

Generally:

Finding Home by Lacey Wolfe is easy to read novella which combines romance, humor, weird situations, serious topics and difficult choices. Perfect vacation or holiday read!

I was first going to ignore this story since I had read another story by this same author. And though that story was actually really good, some of the things in it really irritated me. I had hoped this one would not have the same problems. For the most part it is better. I did read these out of order so I was extra shocked at the discrepancies or somewhat differences I found in the personalities of the characters in the other book. The main one was Seth. I don’t know if it was just me or whether Seth sounded very different than how he was in his own story. Even though he has a very brief part in this one, that one impression did not seem like the conservative or traditional Seth that we are presented with in his own story in which he makes a big issue about the type of store someone is opening in his town. Yet in my opinion he’s doing something much ruder like getting into someone else’s business on a very private topic. Even Samantha shows some attitude in this one. So at the end, I realized that the characters of this town are kind of rude. I know everyone is in everybody else’s business in small towns, here they are a little more irritating.

I also thought that in each story there’s one character that is totally doing a TSTL thing or just weird. In this case, thankfully it was an ex who was a blockhead about an issue related to the heroine. I was also very surprised at how readily the heroine gave her ex her new location, which made it pretty apparent what was coming up later in the story.

Besides strange, sometimes rude characters in this story, and some of these really foolish TSTL type behaviors, it was good. I liked it better than Bare Necessities.

In Finding Home, by Lacey Wolfe, we find our heroine Julie in an emotional tailspin. She's just discovered that she's pregnant and once she informs her boyfriend of this he gives her an unbelievable ultimatum. Abort the baby or get the hell out of his house. He doesn't want to be a father. Needless to say this earns him the jerk-face-of-the-year award.

Sweet, love-able Julie wants to keep her baby, so she packs up, and does what any self respecting girl who's in a world of hurt does. She goes home to Mama. However, little does she know when she enters her Mom's house to find half naked, and totally drool worthy Mark in the kitchen cooking breakfast, her Mom's not home. She got a wild hair and decided to travel the country.

The short story that follows was sweet, but slightly heart wrenching. Mark has suffered a terrible loss. Julie doesn't know what she's going to do now that she's pregnant. All she does know is that she's keeping her baby. I think readers will enjoy this lovely little novella. My only complaint was that it was a novella. While reading it I saw the potential to expand on so many things, and think that if the author had, she would have a wonderful novel on her hands. So all-in-all, sweet short read for those who want semi-instant gratification in the heart warming department.

Finding Home is a lovely romance novella. I love that it can be read quickly yet it's a fully satisfying romantic read. I enjoyed getting to know Julie and Mark in the setting of Clearwater. The small town made a great backdrop for the story (I'm a sucker for small towns with nosy and good people).

Even though this is short in length, I still felt like I got a good feel for both of the main characters. The background built slowly so I could get to know them and they could get to know each other (well slow for a novella). Nothing between them ever felt forced or hurried. I felt the author paced the friendship and romance between Mark and Julie very well and made it very believable. She also created a great antithesis to Mark with Jeremy.

Great romance, a few spicy scenes, and a warm lovey feeling is what I felt left with when I finished Finding Home and that's exactly what I wanted going into the book. Ms. Wolfe has written a delightful novella that will satisfy any romance readers heart and make them sigh with longing and love at the end of the book. I'm also excited to hear there will be another book set in Clearwater later and we'll get to see more of Julie and Mark. Please hurry up and write Ms. Wolfe!

Finding Home was such a sweet romance of two people finding love when they both least expected it. Julie is put into a very tough situation when she finds out that she is pregnant & her boyfriend has no desire to be a father so he tells her to get rid of it or move out. Julie makes the best decision for her & her unborn baby by moving out and moving back home to be with her mom. Little did she know that her mom had rented out her house to a very handsome man named Mark, so that she could travel with her friends.
Mark is trying to get over a painful past so he moves to a town where no body knows him or his past. When these two meet & unexpectedly get stuck together in the house for several days due to a storm, they discover love & passion that neither one of them really knew existed.
This is the type of book that a reader will not be able to put down until they find out if these two wonderful people get the "happy ending" that they both greatly deserve.

Finding Home is a short story so if you are like me & don't have a whole lot of time to read.......this is the perfect story for you!!

I thought this story is amazing! I have read both versions of this story. This review is for the re-release. It hits close to home for me in many different ways. Oh and it is free on Amazon right now (8/13/12)! Go get it before it changes!!

The characters:
Julie is our heroine who discovers she is pregnant. Upon telling Jeremy, the father of the unborn child, promptly tells her to have an abortion or leave. Julie decides to visit her mother in Wyoming. Though when she arrives at her mother's house, she was surprised by an unknown male in her mother's house.

Mark, the mystery guy in Julie's mother's house, is new to Brookfield and is currently renting the house while Julie's mom is traveling. Mark experienced a horrible loss and moved to "get past his past".

Jeremy, the father of the unborn child, is a piece of work, but fortunately, he is in the story much. Unfortunately, he had his role.

What happens when Julie and Mark are stuck in blizzard? What does Julie decide? READ to find out!!

Remember, it's free right now on Amazon!

Wow, another awesome book. I loved this book, and this series.
This is the story of Julie, who is pregant and needing a place to go. She told her boyfriend about the pregancy and he flipped and told her to get out. The only place she can think to go is her mom's place. She takes off and has an unexpected suprise when her mother is not the one answering the door.
Mark is the man staying at her mothers until her mom comes back from vacation and is also a local furniture maker. He has some demons in his past and this was the perfect town to get over those. There is an instant attraction between these two. Julie is not sure if it is hormones or the real thing. Mark feels it, but is haunted by the past.
These is a great story of starting over and also learning & knowing that the past is the past and there is nothing you can do to change that. Everyone makes mistakes, but you have to learn to forgive & forget and move on.
Very sexy read. Loved it. Love this town and the characters. Can't wait to read the next book.

If you are looking for a quick, heart-warming read, pick up Finding Home. I enjoyed the storyline, and you can't help but put yourself in Julie's shoes when she flees New York and heads home to clear her head in Clearwater.

The instant chemistry between Mark and Julie is as hot as the chili cooking on the stove. Not only is Julie trying to keep her hormones in check, but Mark has a secret he is hiding and he is conflicted about starting anything with Julie, especially with her begin pregnant with another man's baby.

Mark was so much more than a "REAL MAN" and I absolutely loved him. Julie had a hard decision to make and I won't say that I agreed with her every step of the way, but she makes up for it in the end.

I do hope that Lacey plans to revisit Clearwater, Wyoming again. I would not only love to see Julie and Mark again, but I would love to see Chloe and a few other secondary characters find their special someone!!

This series seems to have a trend of insta attraction but with the pace of the story, it actually didn't bother me much than I expected.

It's nice to see more push-and-pull in this relationship than just the one-way towards happy ending which usually happens when the story runs fast. I was just hoping that revealing Mark's past was given more emphasis than making it feel like just being mentioned in passing.

The characters were fine. Again, I didn't have a solid mental image of what they looked like but I let it pass. I just noticed that there seems to be a slight change in Claire's voice. This version of Claire seems sweet and a bit perky. The sass was not present and the tough but girly personality wasn't there too. She was just a perky and fun friend who loved having Julie back home.

Over all, this story was okay. Again this is something you'd want when you're in-between books. I'm looking forward to finish reading this series.

Julie Miller is a regular woman that was lucky enough to have a great family and support system in her home town in Brookfrield, Wyoming. She is home to reevaluate her life because New York city was a disappointment (romantically). But strangely enough I kind of understood the jerky D-bag boyfriend, Jeremy's point of view which was a single city lifestyle, but that doesn't excuse him when he doesn't take responsibility of his sperm's actions.
Julie goes home to a big surprise... her mother is in a RV roaming around America and there is a hunky hot guy renting the house. Mark Thomas is a good man who has been alone since he lost his wife and son in a car accident. Julie and Thomas come together during a freak winter blizzard and they find love, but it isn't without its own problems (afterall, Julie is pregnant with another man's child).

Finding Home is a really sweet romance. For those of you who have read her erotica. this one is mild in comparison. But, the love story is still very satisfying. Julie has come home to seek counsel and comfort from her mother after finding herself homeless and pregnant. Instead, she discovers that her mother is traveling and has rented the house to Mark. The attraction is strong, but Mark has a heart breaking secret. Mark is such a sweet guy and I was so rooting for their HEA. This story also features a great town as the backdrop. I wish the book was longer because I would love to have read more about the town and the other characters. Hopefully, Lacey will revisit this town in the future!

What a truly endearing book. Julie moves in with her boyfriend & not two months after being there she finds out she is pregnant. She tells him & the prick says have an abortion or get out. So, being the smart girl she is she leaves & goes home to mom. But surprise mom's on a trip & sexy Mark is renting her house. So before you can figure out what to do you are in the middle of a blizzard with Mark. Boy do you get to stay warm in the best of ways but also get to find the kindest of hearts in a man you just met. You will just love this book & love to find out if Mark can love Julie & her baby. Just know this book will leave you fanning yourself in a few spots during the story just so you know.

When Julie finds out she is pregnant, her boyfriend is less than thrilled causing Julie to pack up and head home for some much needed help from her mom. When arriving at her mom's house in Wyoming she finds her mom is gone on a road trip and Mark is renting out the house while she is gone. In a freak snow storm Julie and Mark are snowed in together for days. They both have a hard past that has to be shared if anything else is to come of a relationship between them.

This is a very sweet book of love and loss and the hope of finding love again.

4.5 stars. Sweet read about unexpected love when your luck is down. Mark is a women's dream with a tragic past. Julie's life has just been turned upside down. She's pregnant and her BF doesn't want kids. So she goes home to see mom and finds Mark instead. Add snow and some love and you've got a very satisfying read.

Got this for free at Amazon and its thefirst book I read on the kindle app. Its full of 'aww. moments and its overly sweet. I read romances like i would read fairy books, knowing that neither love nor fairies exist. So I cant really give this top marks at all for originality or anything. Its pretty pat and standard, no ruffles, waves, or unsmooth bits.

This is the best of the first three I've read. But still a little too rushed for me. Plus I'm not so sure that a man who resisted everyone's advances would rush into another's arms the minute she left either...not terrible but not great either.
