王笛,出生于四川省成都,历史学者,现为澳门大学历史系主任。
1978年,王笛进入四川大学历史系,师从隗瀛涛先生。1985年,王笛硕士毕业后留四川大学历史系任教,1989年,王笛完成了第一部专著《跨出封闭的世界——长江上游区域社会研究,1644—1911》。王笛后于1991年赴美,师从罗威廉教授,1998年,王笛在约翰·霍普金斯大学获博士学位。他还担任华中师范大学近代史研究中心客座教授、中国社会科学院近代史研究所特邀研究员等职。

由王笛的四川系列爱上看微观史,被科普了很多旧时成都老茶馆的习俗知识,一个公共空间的多元性。现在的茶馆咖啡馆酒馆很多属性都丢失了,人与人之间的联系部分转移到网上,少了一些活色生香
