First of all I want to thank the Author for giving this to us for free. Second I'm not sure what one of the reviewers read but it doesn't seem to have been this book. Third I really enjoyed this short little story. Very Sexy and Hot and Brief. I would love to read more about Elizabeth and Giancarlo. "Si, si, bella," he said. "Scusami." Fan, fan, fan. Those Sexy Italians!
I enjoyed this story. It is very short, and very erotic.
This would have been better in a longer novella or novel. There's some far-fetched stuff happening for such a short story and I really had to work to suspend my disbelief as a result.
Still, a sweet tale.
BTW, check out some of her other books, specifically "Heat Rises" , 5 stars for sure!
Ah...sex and art. A great combo. This was a well-written, sexy short story, and from reading it, I'd definitely be interested in reading more of the author's work. Note that with this Kindle edition, there is also the first chapter of another read, 'Heat Rises'.
From reading the info about the author, besides residing in Oakland, she also likes the 49ers, and a local old-school R&B band, Tower of Power. Small world!
Beautifully written, highly erotic. There is so much junk-erotica out there so it was absolutely refreshing to read sexy writing of this caliber. My only complaint is that it was too short--I wanted more of the story, but What i really wanted was more of this writer!
What started out as a little manipulation on his part, she fell for it hook, line and sinker. She ate up, or should I say he ate up and she enjoyed every second of it. She returned the favor, but he stopped her before he would have wanted to. They ended up in a torrid coupling that they both enjoyed immensely. She found out in the morning what really happened, but she wasn't holding it against him. She only hoped for more.

It had potential that wasn’t fully met. Felt it was lacking in character development, plus the story could have been an intriguing one had it had more sustenance.
Professor Elizabeth Carlisle is an art critic and does a good job of exposing counterfeits. She's at an exhibit of erotic art where she catches the eye of a handsome Italian stranger. They are viewing a more private collection only to find that they've stayed past closing time and are now effectively trapped inside the museum for the night. Surrounded by so much eroticism, life immitates art and they succumb to the passion that had been building between them. The next morning, Giancarlo makes a confession.
I think if it had been longer or even a full length novel, I'd have more stars to give. Why was Elisabeth such a closed off woman? What made her decide to jump on the couch with a stranger? What made Giancarlo want to seduce her specifically? I've read novellas that give you quite a bit of character development or a stronger plot, so I do find it a shame that this was aptly titled with emphasis on the brief. For an erotica novella this was rather forgettable.
Elizabeth, an art professor finds herself locked in a museum overnight with a very sexy man who has some very naughty thoughts on his mind. Giancarlo wanted the brilliant professor in the museum for her expertise on his art collection. Now that he has her there alone with him he has a completely different agenda on his mind.
Brief Encounter is short and very sexy. I was surprised, it was after all a freebie at amazon. I’m usually let with a ‘meh’ feeling when it comes to some of the free books out there. I was satisfied with the way the couples tryst closed. They had a sexy romp, they left it with a happily for now. An insta love, happily ever after would have been a huge turn off honestly.
okay...so the book description and other reviews do not match the kindle version I read....this was a very short encounter between Laura and Ethan in a snowstorm...because they are stuck in a cabin I assume this is part or an introduction to the Cabin Fever series??? It was good enough to get my interest but short enough to be frustrating.
ETA....it actually looks like this is the fist chapter of Heat Rises...so instead of a free "short" it looks like it is a "preview"??
What woman hasn't fantasized about crazy good sex with a stranger? I liked the idea and the story was a good fast read with lots of hotness going on. Alice Gaines writes good stories and I'll be buying more of her work. Put this on your list of books to buy!
Easy to read, but nothing special, in aiming at brevity it seemed to suffer for a lack of depth with characters trying a little too hard to be classy but without the substance to really back it up. It wasn't bad, just a little so-so.
Very similar to the rest of her cabin fever set, but it is my favorite out of the four books (it may be because it's the first one I read). Worth the read if it's what you're looking for.
