I had found Chiaki irritating in the anime and here too I found him irritating. And Hatori, whom I had actually liked, well I hate him now. Those who have seen the anime can avoid reading it - there's nothing more in the book that you usually expect and the very few parts that were left off in the anime are better left off. This is totally a book to avoid.

I watched the Sekaiichi Hatsukoi anime years ago and I really loved Yoshino and Hatori and their relationship in that so when I found out there were books about them I basically cried with joy. But then when I started reading this books, it turns out it's not at all like the anime...
First of all, it definitely needs a trigger warning for rape and dubious consent! Second of all, just the fact that it feels like Chiaki only keeps Tori around (and sleeps with him) is because he doesn't want to loose him makes me so sad. And thirdly, just no. Not okay.
I would not recommend this book to anyone. Especially not anyone who liked this pairing from the anime or manga because it just kind of ruins them. I'm going to rewatch the anime and pretend this book never happened. I am really disappointed. ;n;

This needs to come with a TRIGGER WARNING for rape and dubious consent, sad but true!!
One of those BL tropes I cannot abide, really. The way they address this issue in such a horrible way and the excuses that are used to explain and apologise are ... appalling. It still makes me speechless! (And this light novel is not a special case at all. This is the rule, rather than the exception. I have to say that I have seen these kinds of topics handled even worse than here.)
I still have a soft spot for this pairing, the way I know it from the manga, BUT the gist of the problems here are in there as well. likewise, I wonder if I like the idea of this couple more than the execution author and mangaka achieved for it and that saddens me quite a lot. They have so much potential.
Unfortunately the translation had some tiny tense shifts and errors, but that could be mended if they looked over it again :)

The stories for the manga and novel are related in that they are both centered around the shoujo manga department of Marukawa Shoten, but they are separate enough that you don't need to read both of them; in fact I don't find that they really complement each other (like, say, the different stories in the Junjou series do). Also, I think this series demonstrates perfectly how much Nakamura's humor can make me love characters, and also that Fujisaki's ridiculously cliché writing in the Junai novels is not on purpose; she's just that bad of writer. I really did not like the Sekaiichi novel AT ALL; the characters were annoying and the "story" was full of annoying tropes we've all seen a million times. At the end, though, there's this little mini-chapter of manga, which I found totally adorable. How can I hate Chiaki's cluelessness when it's so cute?
The manga I love to death; it's pretty much everything I love about Junjou but with new characters. The flashbacks do make me a little sad, though, because the characters were so adorable and happy when they were kids; it makes you wish they could do it over again and not break up over a stupid misunderstanding.

Un relectura luego de más de 6 años...
Soy un fujoshi que se conmueve fácilmente. Sin embargo, siempre tuve una espina sobre cómo es que se desarrolla el inicio de relación entre Chiaki y Hatori.
Ahora que ya estoy más grande entiendo el por qué. Sinceramente opino lo mismo que la mayoría de reseñas: debería tener una advertencia sobre consentimiento dudoso y abuso sexual. Y creo que no era necesario que se tomara ese rumbo. Pudo ser otro menos impactante o menos serio.
Pero cabe resaltar que, lastimosamente, este es el tipo de contenido en la mayoría de animes bl y sus novelas. Y esos temas no son tomados con la seriedad debida.
Reconozco que aunque me gustan estos animes y novelas no me nublo el juicio y admito que hay cosas que están mal aquí.
Por otro lado, me gusta la escritura de Nakamura. Siempre he pensado que las novelas revelan más cosas que los cómics o mangas. Y aparte los dibujos de la autora.
Pueden decirme lo que quieran porque admito que la nostalgia y el fanatismo son la única razón por la que lo doy un puntaje medio y no de una estrella, aún teniendo en cuenta el tema de la violación. Si esto fuese una lectura nueva y si no perteneciera a uno de mis animes favoritos del genero yaoi, le daría solo una estrella.

the anime was better.. i actually didnt read this before (in the middle of rereading Sekaiichi right now) and i am disappointed with this.. i thought reading this would shed some more light to what exactly is the good to these two's relationship, but how my perception of it just got worse?? it was no good from the very start and there is no way i wouldn't condone forming a romantic relationship starting with rape...

Me encantó esta novela.
Aunque por la portada parece un manga, esto es un libro. Un libro con letras, puras letras y acompañado en algunas páginas con el maravilloso arte de Nakamura-sensei :3 La historia trata de Yoshino Chiaki, un mangaka y su mejor amigo Hatori Yoshiyuki. Ambos han sido mejores amigos desde siempre, se conocen de toda la vida. Han ido al preescolar juntos, primaria juntos, secundaria juntos, universidad juntos y trabajan juntos. Hasta se podría decir que casi viven juntos. Pero la cosa está en que Tori (Hatori) ha estado enamorado de Yoshino desde que tiene memoria, pero él no lo sabe y Tori tampoco planea decírselo nunca porque a) Ambos son hombres y b) Tiene miedo de que eso arruine su amistad. Pero durante el libro una cosa lleva a la otra y cosas que no planeaban suceden.
Este libro es una novela ligera que pertenece a Sekaiichi Hatsukoi de Shungiku Nakamura. Pero este material no fue escrito por ella (llora :c) aunque los personajes sean suyos. Pero aún así amé la escritura de la persona que escribió esto. (que no se su nombre porque yolo) Era muy distinta a cualquier forma que he leído antes y lo disfruté mucho. Aunque sinceramente, hubiera preferido que esta pareja sea incluida en el manga, en el libro me pareció un poco seria y creo que el humor de Nakamura más el romance del libro hubiera sido la perfección TOTAL así como se ven en los cortos de Chiaki y Tori que aparecen entre capítulo y capítulo del manga original. (Son demasiado beshos :33) La historia toma un sentido completamente distinto al del anime ya que sin la censura, hay cosas de las que no tenía idea que pasaban D: Y mientras en el anime es una tierna historia de amor, en la novela la encontré algo triste y complicada. La persona que lo escribió de verdad me hizo sentir todo lo que Yoshino sentía y creo que pude entenderlo de una forma que en el anime no pude. Sufrí demasiado :(
Le puse cuatro estrellas porque bueno...soy una nena y hubieron partes en las que no me sentía realmente cómoda, o sea no es nada que no haya visto antes, pero respecto a "esas escenas" me parecía que habían detalles innecesarios que REALMENTE NO QUERÍA SABER. O sea no estoy en contra de esas escenas, al contrario, por lo general las disfruto mucho en el yaoi, pero es que habían partes en las que pensaba "En serio, esto era necesario?" Como que tanto xxx le quitaba la dulzura a algunas escenas, pero fuera de eso y otros detalles menores, amé la novela un montón.
PS: La parte donde salen Takano y Onodera. Estos están en todas XD

sin duda era una nena. ahora he leído todas las escenas completitas de lo que "supuestamente" mis ojitos lindos no podía leer y no era nada diferente a lo que leo literalmente todos los días antes de dormir en ao3 lmao. es más, esas escenas estuvieron bellamente escritas y no tuve ningún problema esta vez. y no, no sentí que le quitara la dulzura, la autora hizo un excelente trabajo y las disfruté bastante. reafirmo: son unos beshos :)
SIN EMBARGO, no entiendo como pasé esto por alto. La escena de * fue totalmente innecesaria. no afectaría en nada de la historia si se quitara, es más, sería muchísimo mejor si se hiciera eso. Eso es algo que NO se debe romantizar PARA NADA. la pareja de yoshino y hatori es bellísima (y mi favorita desde siempre), PERO lo que pasó es un detalle que prefiero obviar por completo. no entiendo quién creyó que incluir * sería una idea maravillosa.
Y SOLO POR ESO, no le daré 5. La novela es hermosa y me alegró disfrutarla muchísimo más que la primera vez. agradezco que el anime no incluyera el * en el storyline porque es horrible y prefiero pensar que nunca pasó.

Upon reading the manga about these characters, I felt let down because I just didn't quite like how they interacted. As with the show, I found them distant and nowhere near as interesting as the other two pairings, but I must say, I loved the light novel. Yes, Tori is super rapey and he doesn't listen to Chiaki which made the beginning uncomfortable, but after the fireworks scene is when this novel really started to get going. I read it in one sitting and I felt closer to the characters after getting a full picture of how Chiaki felt. Of course, there is useless drama and naive decisions being made, but that's the fun of reading it. All in all, I'm definitely reading the next one and I'm liking the story progression.

Chiaki is the most insensitive person I've ever met. It feels like he only went out with Hatori because he doesn't want to be alone or he needed him. I can't feel the love here.
I feel sorry for Hatori and for Yanase as well. But I'm giving this book a 3 stars because I'm a sucker for friends-to-lovers, and because Hatori is my most favorite character in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi series.
Nevertheless, I'm still giving their story a chance by reading the sequels. So here goes nothing~

I realised a bit late that this one comes actually around volume 5, but since I watched the anime, I know what it is about. It's a short piece (well, the online stuff is, but it says the published one has over 200 pages? Huh?), a slice of life so to say, nothing extra. I think this is my least favourite couple from the series; I just feel so sorry for poor Tori and what he has to put up daily. Yoshino is way too immature for him.

Es una novela buena, que se lee en un rato. En este libro se cuentan los principios de esta pareja antes de que fueran agregados al manga de Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. Y se cuenta la primera vez de esta pareja donde no todo es color de rosa...
