Seriously, I did it, I read a book on running...yawn, right! Not really, surprisingly. I have been running my whole life and never gave it much thought, but now I have seen how much there is to consider. For someone who always considered running just a crappy form of transportation, I really got a lot out of this book. It covers everything - stretching, nutrition, preventing injuries, treating injuries, strategy for running long distance and more. A lot of good info on hydration and old bad science on hydration. For nutrition, covers types of food to eat and when plus what you might eat while you are running. I like that it draws from different experts in various fields on training, medical and nutrition. I always tend to evaluate which books to read by their sources, at least non-fiction. I am putting this book on my reference shelf as I expect to refer back to it from time to time. I am doing a charity run this week and a couple later in the year, so this whole running thing may turn into something that I do. If I could say one thing, I wish I had read this book prior to volunteering to do these runs so I had more time to prepare properly, but going forward it will be helpful I am certain.
