How to develop and use spiritual gifts such as healing, prophecy, word of knowledge. Gives anecdotal examples from author's experience, then gives Biblical basis and how the reader can develop the skill.
This is a candid, no nonsense, revelatory call to arms. Somehow it feels reminiscent of an N.T. Wright book, except about miraculous action. The tone is grounded and casual: specific details and universe-big picture stipulations are covered in what feels like a coffee shop hangout, except with subject matter that's a few degrees in magnitude more interesting and important than how some day job's been going. Challenging, funny, and effortlessly volatile.
I found this book practical and well-written. I've heard Jordan preach and teach many times, so most of it was not new to me, but it's always good to have it all organized and in print so you can use the book as a reference, a guide for future ministry, and perhaps a check on what is authentic and what is bogus. For people unfamiliar with the concepts, this is a good introduction to a mostly-neglected aspect of the following-Jesus life. It could be used in a group with discussions following, and perhaps a practicum aided by the Holy Spirit. I definitely recommend it. If God seems dead to you, or if you've decided you don't need church in order to worship God, this book will show you that God is alive and well and connecting with people.
