Samuel Branch is a man capable of wielding the energy around him to devastating effect. In another time, he would have been revered and feared as a wizard. In an age of technological miracles, the world has no need of his services. When a dangerous messenger arrives with orders from the ancient and unimaginably powerful Lords and the Ladies, though, Samuel Branch has no choice but follow the trail of a rising darkness. To complicate matters, when the sister of a friend-turned-enemy goes missing, an old lover resurfaces demanding that he intervene. When it all comes down, Samuel Branch may find that a rising darkness is the least of his problems.

Do you enjoy reading a good fantasy novel full of magic, monsters and heroes? What if the book was a modern day thriller and not an ancient tale? Falls by Eric Dontigney is just such a book. It is an excellent read full of adventure.

The storyline is well thought-out and easy to follow. It kept me on the edge of my seat during the entire book. It is full of action and fast paced adventure. I really like the way Eric weaved his tale.

The characters were well developed and very believable. It was easy to identify with them and follow their trials and tribulations.

I really enjoyed reading this book.

I highly recommend Fails by Eric Dontigney.

Solid first book in a new series, I like the character of Sam in this one...he's not an overpowered shell of a man with anger issues (although he does have his own demons).

Great cast of characters as well, well thought out magic system and the writing is top notch and easy to follow. Action was very well written as well, sometimes when you have 2 powerful beings in combat the writing gets a little difficult to understand and visualize - not so here, well done Eric!

Highly recommend to any Urban Fantasy fans.

Eric has a unique style that separates him from other writers. I felt like it was a detective story/character set in the present day and accompanied by a supernatural vibe to the tenth degree. The writing was well structured and edited (Thank God). It moved along fairly well but at times the author would run off with what I call "rabbit trails" which detracted from the pace of the story he was weaving. The characters are interesting. I recommend his book and give it 4 stars!

Disclaimer.
I had requested and received audible version of this book for free from the narrator, in exchange for an unbiased review.

What I liked about the book -
I haven't read an urban fantasy novel in a long time and thus this book was a refreshing change. It's got a modern setup which also has magic / wizardry woven into it. The author manages to keep the story compact and it was tense throughout. The action sequences were thrilling. I enjoyed the read.

What I disliked about the book -
A tad bit explicit / raw. If you get offended by such content, be warned.

Narration -
Narration by Paul Stefano was well done and kept me engrossed.

Falls: The Samuel Branch Omnibus is a three-book set I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). The first book in the series, Falls contained all the imaginative and fast-paced I've come to enjoy from this writer. He always seems to find a great twist in his plots and creates engaging characters. This is one of his better storylines, in my opinion.

DNF.
- Reached 22% in the book and I am still waiting for something to happen.
- There is some system of magic in place, but I have no idea what it is.
- The personal relations are inexplicable to me. I feel like all of them are just to bring tension in the book.
