This was a very good book, I enjoyed reading it quite a bit. I didn't realize it's in a series though, and that kinda messed me up. Definitely worth reading.
What a dissapointment! I read all of the five star reviews on Amazon, and I was so excited to read this. I honestly don't understand all of the five star reviews. To me this book was short and rushed, with very little development whatsoever. It started out good, but after the first few chapters became completely cheesy.
Somehow, this book took the awesomeness of werewolves and vampires, mixed it with Romeo and Juliet, and ruined all three. It was cheesy, it was choppy, and the ending was terrible.
Wow. Ummm....there was a lot, and I mean a huge amount of cheese in this thing. I was almost embarrassed for the characters to have to say some of this stuff to each other. I mean, I actually found myself cringing at times. It was a fast read...the thing that kept me going was wanting to see if it actually ended like Romeo and Juliet...well...it ended, that's for sure. I won't spoil it for ya, but the ending was very short of amazing. I've read another by this author that left me more entertained. This just felt very thrown together, disjointed and ...of course, as stated already....cheezzzzy!
I liked this story a lot. It is a fantastical twist on the original Romeo and Juliet, with the never ending feud between the Capulets and Montagues. Only in this story it is between vampires and werewolfs. H.T. Night has a special way with expressing the story with a few twists and it is very interesting, to say the least.
I will not tell you more in order as not to give anything away. I will just say this, It is a wonderful read and a great twist on a beautiful love story. [[ASIN:B0082XMI5W Romeo and Juliet: A Vampire and Werewolf Love Story]]
I just can't see what the hype is about. To me, this looks like it was written by a sixth grader with all the grammatical errors and redundant sentence structure. I'm not sure if I will try another book in this series, on the hope that it would get better, or not.
If you could get past the errors and bad structure you do see the love between Romeo and Juliet. The rest is just a baffled story.
There were many many things wrong with this retelling of Romeo and Juliet and I was disappointed. Firstly, it needs editing. There were many errors and the grammar was terrible in places. I didn't feel the love between Romeo and Juliet and their were inconsistencies in the plot. There were also phrases that repeated themselves many times which was distracting. At least it was quick.

My Thoughts: This was an interesting spin on Romeo and Juliet. I like the originality of the concept but something seemed to be lacking in the story for me. I just didn't feel drawn in by the characters or their plight. I suppose one primary reason is that the story seemed a bit rushed and there was very little time devoted to their burgeoning love...it was just "bam"...we love each other. The rapidity of love may have worked in the 16th century but in 21st century fiction it needs time to develop to be believable. I did not hate the story...I just wish that the story had been given more flesh and that the dialogue was a little less banal.
I don't know where to begin because there was so much wrong with this novella that made me want to vomit. Let me try any way.
The dialogue is forced and often awkward. Not only was the flow bad, but ineptly written. The inner monologue within the character's mind was the worst. Not only was it cheesy, but extremely boring. There were descriptions and tangents that could have been omitted without affecting the story at all. Inversely, other parts needed more history and development to create more complex characters and environment ambiance.
Everything about this book was sub-par. The premise was promising and although it had a lot of potential, the author failed to adapt it well. Adaptations are tricky because it needs to have originality without changing the story too much. There were several homages to Shakespeare using lines/dialogue from the original play, but it was random and clumsy in its placements.
I've read others from this author more eloquently written. This one was a total disappointment and nothing about it was redeeming (other than it was free for Kindle on Amazon when I downloaded it).
If you're a fan of Romeo and Juliet then you'll like this paranormal retelling of the beloved classic. H.T. Night does a good job of sticking to the basics of the story. Of course to make the story his own Night made the Montague's werewolves and the Capulet's into vampires. He even slightly changed the story by making some of the events happen at different times. I'm not a fan of Romeo and Juliet at all and find the whole romance between them to be immature, but I like how the author stuck to that with the story as well. The story is left at a cliffhanger and it's up to the fans if they would like for the story to continue or not. Well, I actually would not because it would stick with the whole Romeo and Juliet story if it just ends this way. It would make a good series, but if Night wants to retell the story in a paranormal way then I say end it this way. It doesn't necessarily have to be a cliffhanger, but unless he ends it that's what it is.
The author had a unique spin on the story of Romeo and Juliet, which made me grab this book when I did. Two opposing clans, vampires and werewolves, running wild in Verona (formerly NYC). Unfortunately, the story fell far short of its intended mark. While I enjoyed the descriptions of my former city, I didn't enjoy the story nearly as much. It was forced and silly. The dialogue was more slapstick banter than anything else at times and I caught myself rolling my eyes over and over. One male character grabbing another male character's crotch in jest? No. Just no.
I absolutely hate giving a book a poor review, but this book was a disappointment for me. It didn't hold my attention and I felt like I was forcing myself to read on. I won't hold it against the author, since I do see he's written several other books. I'd be willing to give another one of his books a try, but this one I'll have to give a definite no.
That was...interesting. Did I like it? Yes. Am i glad i read it? Yes. Would I read it again? No. And for me that is the defining trait of a good book/story. When the story is so compelling, it is worth my time to not read it just once, but over and over again. I don't care about grammatical errors or bad editing...I kind of expect it from Indy Authors. I care weather or not I got sucked so far into the characters world that all of the bad editing fades away...this story just didn't do that for me. It was sweet and very predictable and VERY cheesy at times but it was a good read non the less and I'm happy to pass it along to other supernatural lovers.
I looked over the Lady's sleeve and drank in my beautiful city.
The year is 2099. New York city is now Verona. The powerful, wealthy Capulets are vampires and the lowly Montagues are werewolves. So begins the retelling of Shakespeare's great work. Romeo is a likable 18 year old who mourns for the old New York. He is smitten by the lovely Juliet. The forbidden union leads to an all out war between the immortal families. The expected ending happens in Times Square with both families present to see the teens' ultimate sacrifice for love and each other.
A predictable tale with the elements of magic, werewolves and vampires thrown in.
This is a depressing adaptation of The Bards famous tale.
Thinking it would be an interesting take using a female Vampiress as Juliet Capulet and a male Werewolf as Romeo Montague was not happy with the resulting weirdness that made up the story.
From the start there is no real connection for me with either main character, the way in which the two young people seem to ignore reality and embrace their own doom did not sway my thinking and most of all the ending which was really a cliffhanger in no way satisfied this reader.
Why did I read this book?
Curiosity and stubborn need to see it to the end I guess.
This is such a beautiful love story, but then I would expect no less from H.T. Night. I've been a fan of his work for a while now, so I was eagerly awaiting the release of this book. Even still, I was blown away. I read it in five hours, only stopping for a quick break one time. I was so engrossed with the plight of the characters, the time just seemed to fly by. This is hands down my favorite book by him.
I so badly wanted to give this book one star but in the end it's not that bad. It was. Slow read nd I thought the author could have done a lot better on the ending
To sum up this book is to simple. A werewolf who is Romeo falls in love with a vampire Juliet. The world is totally different and New York is two sides alas vampires vs werewolves. There was no romance or action just someone trying to pull off a great classic with paranormal epic fail
I of course loved it.. It's an H.T. Night book... what more else is there to say... There is love and betrayal which always makes for a great story... I really couldn't believe his parents though... I would like to see more of this story and what happens next cause if you go by Romeo and Juliet tradition Juliet wasn't dead like Romeo thought. So I loved it, I want to see more and I recommend it as a must read! :O)

I was hoping this novel based on the love story of Romeo and Juliet with vampires and werewolves was going to be great and better than Twilight series. However after a couple of great chapters, I discovered that sadly it was not that great. It seemed like the author rushed through the story and left the reader with a very disappointing ending that just seemed like the author just wanted to be done with it.
Wow!!!! This story was written with such amazing clarity and detail. I feel like I was in the story with the other characters. Excellent job expressing the emotions of Romeo. Very touching and heartfelt story. This definitely took me on a roller coaster of emotions. Thank you HT this was awesome!!!
The story line to this book was right on. However I feel this book reached out to the young generation. The romance was there but it could have been stronger. I also did not like the cliff hanger at the end either the book ends or it continues
I wasn't a fan of this one.... It took forever to read because I just wasn't interested... I actually forgot what I was reading. I love the Romeo and Juliet story so it wasn't that.... And I don't think that it was really the vampire/werewolf plot .... I'm not really sure what it was for me.
Romeo is a werewolf and Juliet a vampire. I really had a hard time getting into this story. It seemed to be too much of a knock off of the original for my taste. I prefer the classic story over this one. The only difference is their feud is over being different species. WaAR
I loved this book now and even more as a child. The characters were written well and I liked the main plot and idea. However, Night REALLY wanted us to know that the main character Romeo is a “badass”. It seems a little overbearing but other then that it’s an amazing book.
Just finished reading, and oh my, you have done it yet again. Yes, this would definately make a wonderful series. Thank you again for another wonderful book.
