I probably bought this in the early 1990s and must have read it several times over the years but never noted when. I found it fascinating watching the development of the look of Popeye as in 1930 he is pretty sketchy but by 1932 he has the classic look. It's also interesting seeing the development of the supporting characters but above all this is a really amusing read. Most of strips feature Popeye's fighting skills in the boxing ring and he only eats spinach once. It also reprints all the Sappo strips from this period which are fun but not as good as Popeye.
