Day 48: Action Comics #281 (October 1961):

"The Secret of the Time-Barrier!"

. . . Continued from Action Comics #280.
(Previously) The phony evil Supergirl (Lesla-Lar in disguise) partners with Lex Luthor. She tells him that she wants him to build a Green Kryptonite ray to destroy Superman, seeing how to do so herself would kill her. She tells Lex that together they will rule the world once Superman has been eliminated. Meanwhile, the real Supergirl who is powerless and has been brainwashed to believe she is Lesla-Lar, Kandorian scientist, remains trapped in the city of Kandor unaware of the identity swap. Superman believing that Supergirl is the real Supergirl, continues to check-in with her to make sure her powers have truly been restored so he can finally introduce her to the world as his super-powered partner.
(Now) Posing as Kara Zor-El, Lesla-Lar has fooled Superman, convincing him that Supergirl is ready for a public appearance. Before doing so, Kal-El has to check on an experiment in his Fortress of Solitude, so the duo travel there. Inside, while Superman is busy, Krypto becomes suspicious of "Supergirl" and realizes that she's someone else. Sensing the real Supergirl's presence, Krypto's x-ray vision finds that she's inside the bottle city of Kandor.

Trivia: This issue has the vote results from a poll for what new hairstyle Linda Lee should have. This vote was called in Action Comics #273.

*I am reading one Supergirl aka Kara Zor-El (Earth-One) story every day, starting with her introduction in May 1959 in Action Comics #252, until her final appearance in October 1985, in Crisis on Infinite Earths #7.
