Recommended by a friend - I decided to read this book. Unfortunately, the library had this short adapted version for English language learners. Obviously it would have been fun to read the original version.
Roger Ackroyd is murdered in a couple of days as soon as he learns that the person he loves tells him that she murdered her husband. With so many interesting characters in the house on the day/night of the murder makes it a curious and entertaining story (and of course, detective plot) for Hercule Poirot to solve. Though I had an intuition all along that time of murder is one of the important clues but I couldn’t guess the murderer till this end! Fun read though.

I personally found this a difficult read especially since it was set in old England and used old English terms. The book had a great twist to it and it was unpredictable really amazing however due to the difficult read I would not recommend this book. It was difficult to engage with and I had a hard time remembering all the character's names since they were olden times names and used surnames instead of first names. It became confusing when discussing a family. That is my reason for two stars.

As this is a shortened version of the story I will have to read the whole book at some point. I wonder if I will remember who did it by the time I get round to it.

Good novel. Read till the finish. There is a reason why the story is told in such a way.
