This is an EXCELLENT introduction book to the world of getting published as a first time writer. Shows you how to protect yourself legally, find a literary agent, and generally how to succeed in fulfilling your dream of becoming a self employer writer.
I picked up this book from the library because it gives a step by step idea of what goes into getting your book written all the way to getting it published and beyond. It was written in 2000, so some of the information is outdated, but I did find a lot of useful information that is still relevant today. I found myself taking copious notes to look back on as I write my book. In my opinion if you are interested in becoming a published writer, it is a good book to read just for the helpful insights given by someone who has worked in the industry in several roles and has experience that can guide you. So if your perusing your local library and come across it, put it in your pile of books to check out.
Again, getting published is not the hard part (that is after the author sweats over writing the book to begin with), unless you want a publisher to do it for you. CreateSpace uploads books for free, and they will be listed on Amazon. But there it will sit. Getting the book to the consumer is the challenge. Good publicity ideas here, and lists that will save time.
