Silver Delgado has gained control of The Dartmouth Cobras—and lost control of her life.
Hockey might be the family business, but it's never interested Silver. Until her father's health decline thrusts responsibility for the team he owns straight into her hands. Now she has to find a way to get the team more fans, and establish herself as the new owner. Which means standing up to Dean Richter, the general manager and the advisor her father has forced on her. The fact that their 'business relationship' started with her over his lap at his BDSM club shouldn't be too much of a problem. Their hot one night stand meant nothing! But how can she earn his respect when he sees her as submissive? Can they separate work and the lifestyle she's curious to explore?
Balancing her new life away from Hollywood, living among people who see her as the selfish Delgado princess, has her feeling lost and alone until Landon Bower, the Cobras new Goalie slips into her life and becomes her best—and only—friend. The time they spend together makes everything else bearable, but before long his eyes meet hers with more than friendship, reflecting what she feels. Which could ruin everything.
Two Dominant men who see past her pretty mask and the shallow image she portrayed to the flashing cameras. A gentle attack from both sides that she can't hope to block unless she learns how to play.
But she's getting the hang of the game. ______________________

Tell you about me? Hmm, well there's not much to say. I love hockey and cars and my kids…not in that order of course! Lol! When I'm not writing—which isn't often—I'm usually watching a game or a car show while working on promo. Going out with my kids is my only down time. I get to clear my head and forget everything.
As for when and why I first started writing, I guess I thought I'd get extra cookies if I was quiet for awhile—that's how young I was. I used to bring my grandmother barely legible pages filled with tales of evil unicorns. She told me then that I would be a famous author.
Lol I reopened this to refamiliarize myself and ended up re-reading the whole damn thing lol It was like a magnet. Hahah
I'll be honest. Silver's introduction left me thinking this might not be the book for me but boy was I glad to see it through. This was one of the most raw glimpses into bdsm I've seen so far. The sensual energy leaps off the pages. The characters and relationships grow and develop beautifully throughout the story. I was enthralled. Its definitely not for the faint of heart or with delicate sensibilities. If you like your romance with a healthy dose of kink, you are home. Welcome.
4.75 Stars (Should probably be 4 due to typos but I'm sticking to my 5)
I forgot how much I enjoyed book #1 in this series until I started reading this one. I'm not into sports, but these books are so well written you feel connected to the sport and all the characters in the stories. You aren't bogged down with complicated details, but just enough to bring you into a different world and make you feel like your involved in that world. The main characters is this story, Dean, Silver and Landon are magnificently expressed! Their world of hockey and erotica exceptionally entwined to make a delicious and truly sensually satisfying read.
The first book was a little bit over the top with the three thing hook up but decided I did like the characters and storyline so thought I would give the author another chance to reel me in and this one did. This book has a well developed storyline with great character development, interaction and chemistry. The relationship between Silver, Dean, and Landon was hot.
"It's easy to let a man fuck you, love. And I could have, several times this week. God knows I wanted to." His lips whispered over her flesh and goosebumps spread as the impact of his words hit her. Wanted to, but hadn't? Why? He answered as though he'd read her mind. "But you weren't ready to give me what I need. You are now. And it was worth the wait, dragonfly."

3 GOALIE STARS
Silver is the younger, spoiled, wannabe actress, sister to Oriana Delgado from Game Misconduct. She's back home because her father is ill. Instead of giving control of the Dartmouth Cobras to Oriana, who is an avid hockey fan and businesswoman, he's given the control to Silver. Silver, who knows nothing about hockey, other than the men are hot and she went slept her way through the team before she'd left town the last time.
Now she has to gain the respect of the team, Oriana's spouses, Dean Richter the GM, Dom and Silver's new love interest, as well as figure out her feelings for the new Goalie, Landon Bower.
I liked this one, not as much as the first one. Some of my questions from the first book were answered in this book. About why their father had so much hate for Oriana. Although I still think he's a hard hearted ass, especially to blame a child for his and his wife's actions, though they were unwarranted. He still treated Oriana terribly and deserves all the pain he's getting from his ailment.
I thought the relationship with Dean was great. Especially once Silver realized that Asher and Cedric were using her and she deserved so much more from a man who was in her life. I got her attraction to Landon, but still don't get why he thought he wasn't good enough for her and put himself into the friend-zone until Dean forced the issue.
I'm definitely curious about Sebastian Ramos and would love to get more of him. I also wonder if Becky, Landon's sister, will feature prominently any future story lines.
The one criticism I have that I think I forgot to put in the first book review, is that there are so many characters in these books and the author uses both first and last names when referring to them that it sometimes gets confusing. I find myself trying to remember who someone is when she's switched from a first name to a last name later in the book.
All in all, I found it a little longer than it should have been. Unlike the first book in the series, it took a while for things to get moving and the relationships to form. The author seemed to play with the idea of them more than in the first book. But I love my menages and will continue to read the next story.
Okay, so I have to be honest. Going out of Game Misconduct, I disliked Silver. She was spoiled, a little whiny and manipulative. I didn't like that she thought she could have whatever she wanted because she was pretty. So when I learned the second book was Silver's, I thought "oh here we go. Let's see what she can pull now."
After reading about a third of the book, I starting changing my tune. I could see a different side to her. Knowing her thought process behind decisions helped A LOT! Make no mistake. Silver was not an angel in this book. She messes up many times, but she wasn't malicious about any of the screw-ups. Learning the inner workings of her mind was very interesting. Unfortunately her Daddy is still a jerk. I wanted to kill him by the end of the book. Grrrr.
Dean. Oh, Dean. He is so gruff at the beginning. I wasn't sure I could warm up to him. He seemed like a standoffish Dom that could not have a loving bone in his body. He was a fun character to get to know also. He reminds me a lot of Dominik, in both his Dom style and personality. While we did not learn much about Dominik's past in Game Misconduct, we learn a lot about Dean. His background shines light on to why he is the way he is.
I just loved Landon. He would be the younger of the two Doms. At the age of 25, he has lived experiences that most don't see at 60. He is fun and playful. He is also naive and aged at the same time. Unfortunately I can not explain that part without spoiling a major part of the story. All I can say I really loved Landon for what he was lived through and is still sane.
Overall, I loved this match-up. All three feed off each other in ways that would not work without one of the guys. Bianca weaved a very realistic tale with flawed characters. She didn't "Cinderella" it up, but gave a happy and satisfying wrap up. As with Game Misconduct, the minor characters are well loved. Tyler and Chicklet are back as well was new characters that I bet will make future appearances, or get their own story :)
After reading Game Misconduct, I knew some discipline was coming Silvers' way. And she definitely got that! I think it helped me reading Ms. Sommerland's guest post here before reading the book to understand a bit more of the why and the emotional and mental implications of that discipline. If I had to compare this book with book one, I'd say the story was a lot deeper in my opinion. I felt Silver's connection to both Landon and Richter.
I loved that they are both Doms but they are so very different. In how they approach her submission and how they treat her and even their everyday actions. They are the perfect compliment to make her feel 100% treasured.
And once you see them separate, they both stole my attention! Landon was sweet and caring and playful and just a guy I wanted to spend time with. Then of course I learned something with him that I haven't heard of before. Electroplay. Yikes! Not sure about that one, sounds a bit dangerous. And then Dean is the older one, more experienced, more intense. I was melting in puddles of goo at his feet everytime. So hot! Once you put them together, well... Silver is one lucky girl.
This was still very sexy, maybe a bit more fun and there are some new developments with the team and with the Delgado family. It definitely sets up some interesting scenarios for the next book.
At only $3.99 you can't go wrong getting this book! It was amazing!
I just read the second book in the Dartmouth series and I can only say OMG that was unbelievably good! Bianca has done it again. She took it up a notch from GAME MISCONDUCT (The Dartmouth Cobras) and twisted it in to a fabulous sexy and steamy candy goodie. I like Oriana in the first book but I LOVE Silver in this one. In the first Silver was a spoiled girl that we didn't want to like. Once you get to read her story, you will love her. I loved her attitude. She did not bow down to no one. Well she is submissive but she will go kicking and screaming. I loved how strong her character was and even though she seemed spoiled at the very beginning (picking up Scott for the team) she did her best with what she knew about hockey.
Her love interests are Dean Richter the GM and the goalie Landon Bower. OMG these are two hot guys and so different that is was so right for them to be together. I loved the back story on both Doms and loved how they meshed together. Silver was a little reluctant to go any further with Landon. She wanted him to stay in her friend category even though she knew she wanted more. Their time together was ohhhhh so good and sizzling hot!
I loved the twists in this story and it makes you go: "I knew it!" I loved that we got to see Oriana and Silver get closer as sisters. It's all about family - no matter the make up. Well I would leave out one family member - Dad - I do not like it at ALL! Well maybe one other but I'm not going to give it away. You will have to read it to find out. Thank you Bianca for writing such a wonderful story. The characters feel to real to me and I want to go hang out with them. We get to meet some new guys and catch up some of of favorites. I love Chicklet. She rocks! Well I can't stop now I have to find out what happens next in BREAKAWAY (The Dartmouth Cobras) Comment
Ok...I did NOT expect to like this book that much because I really did NOT like Silver in the first book....but in my opinion Bianca Sommerland is a brilliant author....she made me feel deeply for her struggles & insecurities which were essentially because she was a product of her environment, even when book one left me HATING her! Now, that's not to say that she is UBER BRATTY at times, and it kind of made me cringe...Dean seriously has the patience of a saint and the fact that Landon continues to play the 'just friends' card for as long as he does is just amazing. This book was HOT! I was surprised by how long it took before Landon was added to the mix...well, you know, REALLY added to the mix. I was close to tears at several points throughout the book - the three had some heavy-duty issues that kind of hurt my heart. In the end I was in love with all three of them! I hope there will be more books in this series - there are still some hot Doms that need stories!!
Again, quite a bit of smut, but I liked Silver's story much more than Oriana's. There was more depth to it and the characters. This one was easier to keep track of the characters (maybe because there weren't 6 of them all together at one time...) but just when I was getting used to the ones I know the author brought new people in....gah!
Had a hard time relating to Silver. I rather liked Dean, and although I liked Landon as well it seemed like he was absent from her life for too much of the book. Once Landon and Silver made up and Landon joined in, it seemed like the elements of his friendship with Silver were gone and he was almost a new character.
Defensive Zone is written by; in my humble opinion; one of the extraordinary authors in the BDSM genre of the 21st century. Ms. Sommerland has several books in this genre and I believe her novels can be classified as dynamite on many levels. Her use of sensory elements that ignites clear visuals, intelligent, realistic dialogue, the use of characters with human imperfections which makes reading Ms. Sommerland's work so entertaining. Ms. Sommerland implants conflict and personality flaws creates distinctive personas for Landon, Silver, Dean making bonding with them easy for a reader.
Sliding into the Defensive Zone, Ms. Sommerland continues part one of the story entitled Game Misconduct by pulling you back in contact with many of your favorite key cast members: Oriana, Max, Dominik. These two highly graphic novels involve a wealthy family, the Delagos, the owner of a Dartmouth Cobras hockey team as they struggle to increase games attendance and win the Stanley Cup. The players on the Cobras team are multi-faceted of various cultural backgrounds bringing spice to the ice.
I applaud Ms. Sommerland for her research about hockey and incorporating this knowledge in her story-line giving it authentic vibe. I embraced the characters in both books because of their personal challenges along with the constant grind of the game invigorating.
Defensive Zone's leading lady, Silver Delago is now managing the team and making some poor decisions which is a thorn in Dean Richter's side and his business sense. This generates major power struggles between owner and general manager relationship aka Dom and Sub. Silver is a spoiled glamour girl and virtually clueless about the operations involving ownership of a hockey team. Silver is sitting in the big chair due her arrogant, mean-spirited, spiteful father declining health. Oops, I got all caught up into my feeling that time. Silver and Dean's relationship begins with a little “tough love” he one classy Dom. Not completely submissive in or out of the Cobras' office Silver's attitude can put anyone on the defensive side. Dean and Silver's quest for dominance makes for slippery, chilly and wild office politics.
Silver, a former B grade star in the film industry understanding how critical securing the attention of the media which can be an asset for the team or its downfall. Silver is stunning and sexy with an appetite for all things risque and questionable. The void in Silver's life draws her into a friendship with Landon Bower the new Dartmouth Cobras goalie. He provides Silver with something more precious than gold along with all new intense emotional experiences.
The club settings and sensuality are high-end with all the delectable flavors of sexy activities. The atmosphere is off the chain sizzling with pain and pleasure and bodies quivering, rocking, rolling, shakin' and quakin'. Silver's one fortunate woman being in the masterful hands and cuffs of experienced loving Doms who aided her personal journey of understanding herself on different levels. Dean and Landon knows how to carry themselves in order to bring sexy back with Silver in the shackles and spanks her when she misbehaves. I think she really enjoys misbehavin' on the regular; who can blame her... having two sexy magnificent Doms as the disciplinarians.
Reading Defensive Zone will take you into a zone...will give your body shivers visualizing all the sweating, bumping, and whimpering...it will keep you up late at night. My question is can old ladies play? I want to play with the big boys too: Dominik, Dean and Landon truly know how to glide, slide, stick and groove. Once again Ms. Sommerland does a fantastic job “getting' in” and satisfying a deep seated hunger. I can't wait for her next book.
In Defensive Zone we get to meet Oriana’s sister Silver. The relationship between the two women is very strained and so that adds an interesting element since Silver is back in town and trying to reach out to her sister. With their father recovering from a heart attack he passes the reins of his hockey team to Silver. The sparks between Silver and Dean fly and her budding friendship with Landon becomes confusing. I enjoyed this one more than Game Misconduct but it really helped that I could follow all the names. I really enjoyed watching Silver grow and find herself. And of course the sex was hot-which is always nice! The relationship she had with each man carried such significant meaning that I found myself very invested in this book. I was also very happy with how this one ends. I am very eager to read the next one and see where we go. I am also impressed by Ms Sommerland’s marketing of this series. The Dartmouth Cobra’s have their own website and even have products available for purchase. Very cute.
OK, so when you write about a menage, my MAIN concern is always .... is this going to be realistic or is the author going to make it all ribbons and bows and the world loves us no matter what kinda thing. I dont take kindly when authors make menage just a peachy way of life because it isn't. there's nothing wrong with it, but it isn't the norm and it should not be treated as such. even in fiction. all that being said ... Bianca Sommerland did the menage thing perfectly. This was a very realistic story with characters that were not perfect. Far from it. Very well written and easy to read. I enjoy reading about this lifestyle so I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series!

PS ... I highly recommend you read the first in this series, Game Misconduct (available on Amazon for free), as all characters intertwine within each other's books. It's not a MUST, but it's helpful.
I think Bianca out did herself with this one!! I absolutely loved Silver even at the beginning when she was all bratty. You just knew there were reasons behind all that she has done. I honestly think her dad should be horsewhipped (I mean if he wasn't on deaths door .. You know). Dean was all that I thought he would be.. YUUUMMMMMM!!! I wanted to be his dragonfly!! And boy o boy!! Landon!! All I can say about that hot goalie is DAMN!! I want him for my own too!!! :)
I would have liked this one better had I not hated Silver so much. She was a spoiled brat and acted very Paris Hilton like, a little of that goes a long way. I hated how much each of the guys had to remind her of her place, it seemed like she never did learn and even the D/s side of things didn't help her out. I will say that I was happy where the three of them ended up.
This book would've been closer to 5 stars had it not been for the fact that I hated Silver for the first half of the book. She annoyed the hell out of me and I never understood what the men were so enamored with by her. It did get much easier to tolerate her the last half though. And Landon and Dean were some sexy mofos so that helped a lot.
Wish we could do half stars. This would get 4.5 if I could. Not absolutely flawless book (I think the ending weakened it a little), but pretty close. I liked book one, but there were just to many men in this. The two with Silver though worked perfectly for mr!
This one was so, so very much better than the first in this series. So excited - I love hockey so mix that together with hot alpha Doms and this book with its emotional threads is a keeper.
5 Stars and a PUREST DELIGHT Award Ms. Sommerland scored the ultimate Hat Trick with Defensive Zone. A score for plot ~ A score for characters~ A score for conclusion. This is the second book in the amazing Dartmouth Cobra Series and it is an absolute winner!
Silver is a Hollywood actress who has been summoned by her father to come home and run the Dartmouth Cobra hockey team. She knows nothing about hockey, but knows everything about making daddy happy. She has spent her life striving to earn his love and acceptance. Dean is the general manager of the team and also the owner of the BDSM club, Blades and Ice, where Silver’s sister, Oriana is getting married. Dean is a very skilled Dom and is instantly able to see the submissive side of Silver just waiting to be exposed.
Landon is the new goalie for the team and also a Dom. He is determined to see Silver for more than just a pretty face and an amazing body. He wants to know who she really is and build strictly a friendship with her. I completely fell in love with these three characters. Silver is struggling with trying to find out what it is she really wants and needs, not only with her life but with her sexuality. Dean is just heartwarmingly patient and caring but also strict and decisive when he needs to be. Landon is the best friend that everyone deserves to have. As he and Silver spend more and more time together, those friendship lines fade away and they both need and crave more.
I admire the way the story line was written with the three characters. Often times in a ménage relationship it’s hard to write equality with their story lines. That is not the case here. Silver and Dean have a very strong, well-built relationship and he is able to show her and give her the knowledge and experience to enjoy the submissive side of herself. Landon and Silver have friendship as the foundation to their relationship. With this in place prior to any sexual encounters he is able to make her feel worthy, needed and appreciated, which is something she really needs in her life. In return Silver is able to give herself freely and lovingly. She cares for them and is passionate about their happiness. She is feisty, sarcastic, a complete challenge and exactly what these two guys need. She makes Landon and Dean acknowledge that even though they are Doms they are not always right. She has a spark that is all her own that just makes this story sizzle.
Silver went on an emotional journey into submission. She was faced with a lot of unknown in both her own thoughts about the lifestyle and rules that must be followed. These two men had different views as to what they needed from her and how to get her to submit, but they both cherished her and would never let any harm come her way. Through their teachings, she truly found herself and was able to let go of her former life to fully embrace everything life had to offer.
I really enjoyed the follow up parts of the story that carried over from Game Misconduct, book 1. It was great to see what was happening with Oriana and her men. There was a lot of turmoil around the team and it was nice to see how it was all handled. I loved how the relationship with Silver and Oriana played out. This book is a full on BDSM book. There is no sugar coating or toning down. It gives us a real look into the club scene and the punishments that misbehaving subs are subjected to. If you’re looking for a love story with a little kink, this is not going to be your style. If you’re looking for a book that will show you the emotion, passion and honesty that consumes a BDSM relationship you will enjoy this immensely. I sure did.
Ava'a Review: 4 Stars and A TRUE GEM Award
Silver Delgado has earned her reputation as a spoiled brat. The rest of the bad press, is well, not entirely true. She’s used defiance and outbursts to gain attention since she was a child. When she didn’t get the attention she was after she looked elsewhere using her tried and true methods. It’s been great fun, but now it’s kind of backfired since she wants to be taken seriously as the owner of the Dartmouth Cobras. This is not a job she sought, but it’s given her the opportunity to finally get her Daddy’s attention.
Dean Richter is the GM of the Cobras and the owner of the local BDSM establishment frequented by most of the team. He’s a Dom through and through and it shows. He got amazing control of everything in his life, well, except his teenage adult daughter.
Silver’s only sampled D/s under the guise of a good time. She determined she doesn’t want anyone controlling her in anyway. There are certainly very few people who could even TRY to control her anyway. The girl is a handful and doesn’t believe in being obedient, ever. She’s struggling to prove herself as vital part of the Cobra’s management.
Watching her sister Oriana take her ‘punishments’ at her wedding sets Silver off like you wouldn’t believe. Both in anger and confusion of the relationship Oriana has with her men. I found myself feeling Oriana emotions at this point. I would have a hard time accepting this vision of a sibling in a scene that speaks of pain rather than pleasure from the outsider’s perspective. I also think this is a very believable feeling, and wanting to protect your loved ones, despite their protest is often ingrained in our sense of family. In order to accept this form of love, you must learn what makes these people tick. Silver’s avoided any deep connection to anyone for so long this is a foreign concept she struggles to understand.
What Silver really needs is a friend at this juncture in her life and she’s damn lucky to have found Landon Bowers, the Cobra’s new goaltender to fill the job. He’s got Silver’s best interest in mind and determined to be the friend she needs. He’s holding back all his physical attraction because he knows it would mean nothing to her given her history of running for any real bond with anyone. Without Landon’s playful and supportive influence, Silver would have never outgrown her childish ways and learned to be a friend and lover.
Dean’s dedicated to giving Silver the attention and recognition she desires, with the boundaries she desperately needs. He’s older and wiser and able to guide the three of them to their HEA. Landon shows Silver what it means to be desired for something more important than your body. It’s the perfect balance of love, lust, boundaries and limitations.
Ms. Sommerland’s Dartmouth Cobra’s series is brimming with strong BDSM influence, unconventional scenes, and not for the faint of heart. These stories are not my typical read, and I couldn’t put them down. Oh - and the heat from these three burns up the pages!!
*** This title was provided to me by NetGalley in exchange for an HONEST review. ***
Silver Delgado is the younger daughter of the Cobra's owner & Oriana's sister. She left for Hollywood to become an actress and model but after her father suffers a severe heart attack, he names HER the new acting owner. Somehow, she has to shed her spoiled, rich, snobby princess persona and become the person that the team and staff can respect.
Dean Richter is the General Manager of the Cobra's and co-owner of a kink club down the street from the arena. At Tim's insistence and Dean's utter dismay, Blades & Ice is hosting Oriana's wedding, collaring & committing ceremony to Max, Dominik & Sloan. Since Dean's bitter divorce, he's not been interested in relationships, but may make an exception for the hot sub that just walked through his doors.
Landon Bower has just been signed on as the starting goalkeeper for the Cobras. He's a Dom with an intriguing specialty. He also takes notice of Silver upon her arrival to the ceremony, not knowing who she is at first.
Silver arrives at Blades & Ice with her gay boyfriends but when she breaks the code of conduct during Oriana & Sloan's part of the ceremony, Asher does not claim her as HIS sub. Dean cannot allow the infraction to go in his club so he's only happy to step in and teach this feisty little sub a lesson in manners. After her punishment is served, Landon steps in to comfort her. He vows his friendship to her, taking what he can get, in hopes of getting more later.
Silver is an interesting character & it's hard to decide if you like her or not. She's naive in several things, but she's far from innocent. She's an assertive sub. She's insecure, but bossy. She's drawl to the primal intensity that is Dean, but equally pulled to Landon's calming strength. She does not understand her sister's relationship with the three men & really takes issues with Sloan, causing a rift between the two siblings. Dean and Landon are both strong characters. Both have a troubled past but manage to be top notch in their respective jobs as well as in-control Doms. Their chemistry with Silver is good. I enjoyed the interactions. Carter is a fun secondary character and Demyan is interesting. I sense a deeper story for both. The minute the old man had his heart attack towards the end of book 1, I had hoped he'd keel over. He's a very detestable man, made even more-so in this installment of the series. The plot was decent, but I found myself getting easily distracted. I think this was due to my lack of connection to Silver for the first half of the book. The second half of the book, she is more tolerable as the plot starts taking a few twists that are unexpected & things liven up a bit here and there. There are a few minor conflicts that are more pacified than resolved. The epilogue really did not provide any closure, but rather left several things hanging. I will assume that is to leave an opening for book 3, BREAKAWAY. Overall, not bad. An enjoyable read.
GOOOOAAAALLLLL! Another goal for Bianca Sommerland with Defensive Zone (The Dartmouth Cobras #2). This book is every bit as good as the first book, if not better. Defensive Zone is the continuing saga of the Delgado family and their hockey team, the Dartmouth Cobras. Picking up where Game Misconduct (The Dartmouth Cobras #1) leaves off, we are placed into the lives of Silver Delgado and several of the players on the Dartmouth Cobras ice hockey team.
Defensive Zone begins with the wedding and collaring of Oriana Delgado to her men. At which time, Silver Delgado, Oriana’s sister, is beginning to face changes in her life as she is forced to take over the family owned ice hockey team, the Dartmouth Cobras, due to her father’s failing health. Silver is also starting to see her relationship with her homosexual boyfriends fall apart. Additionally, Silver is trying to put her “bad girl” ways behind her and prove herself worthy of the trust, respect, and love she so desires from her father. Things are not going well for her to say the least. That is until Silver takes up a relationship with Dean Richter, GM of the Cobras, as well as owner of the BDSM club frequented by the team, and a friendship with Landon Bower, the team’s new goalie. Silver faces her need and desire to submit at the hands of Dean and realizes that she is worthy of the trust, respect, and love she desires. Dean is very patient, but strict and quick to dole out the punishment Silver needs. Landon develops a friendship with Silver based on trust and understanding of Silver as a person not an object wanted for her pretty face and body. This goes a long way with Silver as Landon becomes her first true friend.
Ms. Bianca Sommerland does a fantastic job bringing the very different lives of three people together in a ménage relationship. This can be difficult as, often times; one part of the relationship will be more prevalent than the other. This is not the case. Both men have a true place with Silver and prove it to her throughout the story. Both Dean and Landon are Doms that love Silver for who she truly is, not the face she puts forth to others. This relationship works well for them and they have their HEA in a most wonderful way.
Defensive Zone has very strong BDSM elements that include bondage, punishments, and the dynamics of a D/s relationship. Since Dean is the owner of a BDSM club that is on the edgier side, there are several scenes that are intense. They are great scenes that lend themselves to the story and into Silver’s developing relationships with her men.
If you like series books, this is a must read. Ms. Bianaca Sommerland continues to weave the characters from Game Misconduct throughout Defensive Zone. Oriana, Max, Dominik, Sloan, and Tyler, all continue to be a part of the story as their lives proceed after their HEA. There are also additional characters that will have their story told in future books. A few of the characters I am looking forward to are Sebastian Ramos, Scott, Luke, and Jamie. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the Dartmouth Cobras.
I got in trouble reading this book - you know the saying, you never know just how much a mother does until she doesn't do it... well I didn't do it yesterday :D Oops -
Awesome story! I loved this one! Probably ... maybe even a little bit better than the first.. but that's only because it's been awhile since I read the first one.. but I still loved it :D
Silver is Oriana's sister - and since Oriana decided to sleep with almost the whole entire Cobra's Hockey team, their father decided Oriana is no longer in charge. So he brought in Silver.
Silver is the drama queen in the family. Spoiled, selfish and demanding. Not to mention she doesn't have a clue about Hockey. But she's set out to make her daddy proud.
Her current relationship with 2 gay guys isn't going well. Sure Asher will put up with her "girly parts" when it suits him, but she's pretty much neglected every other time.
Going to the "club" for Oriana's wedding to Max , and Collaring, Silver gets into a little trouble with the club owner, AKA The Cobra's General Manager / the guy she's going to be working with - YIKES!
But things don't go as Silver planned. She's a sub, but she's not 100% sure she knows how to be a sub. So after her spanking from Dean, she refused to go to him for the after care. Landon, the teams newest Goalie stepped in.
Landon is the biggest sweetheart - he wants to be Silver's friend. Knowing that he feels more for her but refuses to let it become knowledgeable. He wants to keep their friendship real..
After Silver starts to feel better with Landon holding her, her self-esteem is shot and she needs to find Dean again...
Trying to stick to the 9-5 hours at work being professional, and after hours are strict Dom/sub - Silver can't decide if it's the right lifestyle for her or not. But Dean doesn't really give her the chance to choose. He can read her really well and sense what she needs before she knows.
When Silver screws up at the club again, this time Landon is forced to show her his true Dom self , and when he can't face her for the after care, he didn't realize it would cost him their friendship, as well.
Things go well between Dean and Sliver for a while, but Dean can sense she's not happy. So it's time to talk to Landon...
I love the Hockey in this book - the games are great detailed and I really enjoy reading about it.
REALLY looking forward to the next book - I am off to buy it, not sure who it's about yet though..
I'm hoping maybe someone can calm Carter down... maybe even throw in a little Sebastian... or will it be Ford who wants to turn his life around??
I have a serious soft spot for hockey romance stories. I mean, if I could point to one really specific genre to say that does it for me, it'd totally be hockey romances. I'm not big on sports romances in general and can be really picky when choosing a subject like that but plunk a story about hockey players in front of me and I'm game.
That is one of the reasons why I've found I really like reading Bianca Sommerland's Dartmouth Cobras series. I was a little worried about how deep into the BDSm lifestyle the first one got because it was leaning a bit towards going beyond my comfort zone but it was Sommerland writing about the game that really kept me going. I'll say up front that I don't know all the rules about hockey but when Sommerland adds details from the games and the sport in general, I really feel that she has made it a integral part of the story rather than just something thrown in because she wanted to write about a hockey player. I feel that she not only takes her story seriously this way but also her reader. I may not always understand it completely but I appreciate that she respects her readers enough to say, this isn't above you and it is important to the story.
Now on to the actual story. After reading the ending of the first book in the series, I knew I would have some trouble adjusting to Silver but it was totally worth it. There were many more layers to her than met the eye. I think Dean and Landon were perfect counterparts to her and I really enjoyed the story. Landon just got to me, especially when he was so determined to just be Silver's friend because that was what she needed the most.
I did have some issues when it felt like certain parts of the story were randomly thrown in just because. Some of them didn't flow with the storyline and didn't always seem to keep with the character. I will also say that near the last half of the book the character development also didn't seem very consistent. I think another edit of the book would have done wonders to make it more consistent. But that's just more from the technical aspect of it I guess. Oh, and it could have done with a re-edit to correct misspelling or mis-used words, though I will admit, I'm a major stickler for this and it didn't bother me that much this time because I was enjoying this story so much.
Overall I loved the story and the characters. When I reached the end of the epilogue, the first thing I thought was I didn't want this story to end. I had the third book lined up next but I found it hard to pry myself away from Silver, Landon, and Dean even if I could still remain in their world. I think this is a mark of a really good book.
*I received this book free from NetGalley on behalf of Fido Publishing in exchange for an honest review*
With Silver having such a sordid past I expected this book to be a little kinkier than the first, which is why I was shocked by how sweet it actually was. Don’t get me wrong it’s still HOT, but Dean and Landon are just so freaking sweet! Well…they are most of the time. The other times they are sexy Doms who take their roles very seriously and Silver’s punishments even more so.
Silver’s father puts her in charge of the team, but she doesn’t want it and she doesn’t know anything about hockey. All she does know is that she has to make the team a success in order to please her father. With a little interference from a GM and some assistance from a sexy goalie she’ll find her way. Her feelings make her want to submit to thier control, but her snarkiness knows no boundaries, and she ends up paying for it. Of course her smartass comments still pop into her head during her punishments, but at least she learns to control the fact that they aren’t actually vocalized…at least most of the time.
Poor Landon fell very quickly into the ‘friend zone’. He didn’t care that he’d put himself there, well not too much anyway, all he wanted was to be there for Silver when she needed someone. But from the moment he saw her he wanted more than friendship…he wanted all of her.
Since it was his club, Dean was put into a wonderful position of disciplining Silver for mistreating a Dom (at her sister’s wedding). He wanted her the moment she signed the waiver at the front desk, but why, why, why did it turn out to be Silver Delgado? Of course, that didn’t make a damn bit of difference when she went to him to apologize.
There is so much I’d love to say about this book, but it would give away the storyline. All I can say is: There’s DNA tests which cause all sorts of controversy, strong rivalries on the ice that go too far, a friendship that needs more, a love that cannot be denied, a proposal that comes shortly after an oopsie, and it’s all mixed with a little BDSM that’ll get your blood pumping and leave you wanting more. I absolutely love the Dartmouth Cobras Series!
My Favorite Moments: I loved the playful banter between Silver and Landon when they’d hang out as friends; it was just as funny as what they didn’t say.
My Favorite Hilarious Moment: I laughed so hard when Silver stood up for her team by telling the girl from the magazine, Scarlet, exactly what she thought of her and how inappropriate she was being with the players.
first impression: oh yes, this was much better than the first! I really liked it. I loved the developement and the characters even Silvers, although I was not impressed with her in the first third but she really changed and I loved that you could see why and how!!! one thing which bothered me a bit was her age .... I did not get the impression that she was so young and I think for me it worked better to image that she was a bit older
review this is the second book in the "The Dartmouth Cobras" series and I really liked it. I got the first book as a freebie and had luck to get this one from Netgally
After her father has a stroke, Silver has to take over the Cobras and immediately comes to blows with Dean Richter, the manager. She has to find her way out of her old life and attitude and comes to terms with who she could be.
to be honest, I was not so impressed with the first third of the book, because Silver and her attitude really bothered me but the longer the book, the more I wanted to read. Silver is growing up a lot in this book and she learns to stand up for herself and her ideas. a big reason for that is Dean. he is a great guy and I think my favorite so far. I loved how the connection between Silver and Dean grew and how the learned about each other. Landon is first only a good friend to her - which she never had - although he wants to be more. but he senses that she needs this connection so he gives it to her
the relationship between Silver and Dean and between Silver and Landon was perfectly done. you can feel how they connect with each other and try to learn from the other. there is just one small thing - I would have loved to see more of a connection between Dean and Landon. especially in the end. but mayb this comes with the next book
we also see everyone from the first book and I love this about this series. the plot and the characters are really going forward and although the focus is on another couple we see what happens to the rest of them
all in all, this was very intense and I loved every second of it. I will definitely read the next one as well and can't wait to see what will happens next although this could be read as a stand-alone I think it is much more fun to read it in series
