Emory Keoke, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, now lives southwest of the reservation, but continues to call South Dakota home.

A veteran who served in Korea in the 1960s, he feels strongly about education and holds two bachelor degrees: a BA in Indian Studies as well as a BS in Nursing.

Emory also co-authored the Encyclopedia of American Indian Contributions to the World published in 2001. Emory collected information for over 30 years.
