I've been A+ certified for many years. I was reading this in order to refresh and update my knowledge. It was fine for that purpose.
It would also be a good secondary source for someone who's attempting to obtain this certification for the first time.
If, however, you are looking for a book to serve as a primary source of knowledge for the exams, this isn't it. It doesn't go into the necessary depth. I don't believe it was intended to serve that purpose.
There was a spot or two, where (I believe) the author may have introduced a term & started using it without really explaining what it meant. That's fine if you've got prior knowlege of the topic. It's a problem if you don't.
In summary, this is good "once over quick" for the topics covered on the A+ test. I wouldn't, however, recommend using it as your primary source of information. For that, try CompTIA A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide. It's by the same author. But, it goes into much greater depth.
