The first exercises by Carl Schroeder is a must have for any cellist beginning the instrument. Geared towards beginners, it slowly moves upward in technique and is just a GREAT beginners book. It is preferable that with any instrument you find a private teacher who actually can play the instrument professionally, but this is the next best thing. Very concise. Originally published by C. F. Peters, Ed.1994, circa 1880. Plate 6410. Reprinted by Edition Fleury, 2013. 34pps of something that doesn't look scary for the beginner.
