Do not revive without authorization. Those were the words stamped on the cryo tube holding the prisoner. Lilly gazed at the prisoner and sensed the rage and frustration within him. Yet she tied her fate to his when their ship was attacked. Chased by Ravigans across the universe, she had no choice put to put her trust in Phoenix. But how was he able to penetrate her mind, filling it with teasing suggestions and sensual images, when that talent had always belonged exclusively to the generations of grey-eyed women in her line? Was the devil with the silver gaze the key to saving her beloved planet of Oasis, or just a common criminal out to take for himself whatever he could get his hands on?

I've always been a writer. Ever since I could remember my biggest desire was to put words to paper. Finally my dreams of publication came true in 2002 with the release of Chase The Wind, the first book in my historical family saga. But I've also looked to the stars since I was a small girl. Which led to my writing of Futuristic Action Romance under the pen name Colby Hodge. And since I've got a knack for relating to teens, I also enjoy writing for them under the name Kassy Tayler.

And just so you know a bit about me. I've been married for several years to the man of my dreams. We've also raised two exceptional sons and enjoy life in the shadow of Pilot Mountain in NC where we share our home with a long haired dauschund and a cat who thinks she's the queen of the world.

So the blurb at the back of this book intrigued me. A handsome prisoner binded by cables in a cyro tube with the words DO NOT REVIVE WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION stamped on the front. What did this guy do to deserve this? Well deeper in the book U learn why he did what he did and it seems he was justified (in my eyes anyways) He wasn't the only one put in a cyro tube a woman named Lilly had willingly been put in one too. Til the ship was attacked and they had to work together to escape. They made an arrangement that he would be her protector. In exchange she would give him a new identity . Lilly was not a ordinary woman she can get into people's minds and know what they are thinking or even put suggestions in their mind. She finds that she can talk to the handsome stranger with eyes like hers in his mind. This book is a cross between Star Wars and Riddick with some other Sci -Fi movies thrown in. I didn't find that it took away from the story in any way..Why I gave this book a three was because of three reasons 1. Name swapping you are told his name is one thing then it switches to some thing else .It switches back and forth which bugs the living crap out of me.. .First Phoenix-Shaun-stick with a bloody name and be done with it..It confused the heck outta me..2. Shaun is just a lukewarm character..I am used to reading books where the men are just better fleshed out. 3. uh Cousins really !Seriously the book was good til I read that unnecessariness. It was not needed nor wanted .It gave the book from then on a ewww factor..So while the idea of the book was intriguing it failed in the storytelling..It was just okay ..

Rewrite the movie Star Wars to focus around Han Solo's & Princess Leia's relationship. Toss movie script into blender. Blend until creamy smooth. Serve this book piping hot.

Okay, so this was not at all a bad book, just embarrasingly derivative. It is so close to Star Wars it could well be sued for copyright infringement. That said, the writing is decent, the story good, and the romance is well done. Of course it is! Because it's Star Wars, which was an excellent romantic melodrama.

The reason I am rating it only two stars is because once, by page 20, I realized it was just Star Wars, I could guess every plot twist and contrivance just based on a single line describing the vegetation or other scene clue. The hero even mockingly calls the heroine "Princess" before & after he learns she actually is a rebel princess.

Since I've watched Star Wars probably 9000 times, growing up in a household where it was practically a religion and we quoted dialogue from it at the dinner table, I have to say this is a very likable and fun romance. & if I were ignorant of exactly where the author got her ideas, I would give it 4 or 5 stars.

I'd put this down as an average read. The writing had a stilted quality to it and the story was predictable, but if you want space opera, this certainly qualifies. Stargazer jumps at a dizzying pace from one location in the galaxy to another, from swamp planets with prehistoric lizards, to mining planets where everyone lives underground. I kept feeling like it was vaguely familiar and I realized that a lot of things remind me of Star Wars and of Dune. We have a princess needing help from the Senate, a prisoner in a cryo-chamber, and a male with powers only women had before among other things.

Despite sometmies feeling deja vu, there were some moments that stood out. My favorite part would be the when Lilly and Shaun finally arrive at the Senate. Here there seemed to be some time spent on describing some of the culture of their enemies. The reader sees how the Circe women treat their men as slaves, shuttling them around with neck braces that inhibit their will, and the gladiator games that went on there showed the dark underside of the galaxy. I felt like this was the most absorbing part of the book for me, but unfortunately most of the book didn't seem to have the same focus on world building as this section did. I wanted things to slow down and have more context.

That's actually a bit generous - more like 2.5 maybe. Ok, I love futuristics. I love to see what new horizons authors have imagined. What I don't like is when I start reading a futuristic (or sometimes a fantasy) and get the feeling the author is making a half-assed attempt at re-imagining someone ELSE's horizons.

So we have a princess of a peaceful planet, heading for the Senate to plead her people's case against a blockade. Sound familiar? Yeah. She meets a man who is not supposed to exist, they land on a swamp planet (seriously?!), get away with the help of a smuggler, hide from the bad guys in the hidden smuggler's compartment, etc.

The man who isn't supposed to exist is a prince; he just doesn't know it. And he has the Schwartz errr Force. For real - he (and she) is telepathic and telekinetic.

It's like a bad mix of the Prequels, Star Trek, and Spaceballs. All we need is a little green man, and a hairy sidekick. Oh, and a lightsaber.

Too obvious man, way too obvious.

I don't think there was one thing in this book that I really enjoyed. The characters never stayed in one place for long (by that I mean they literally traversed the GALAXY to arrive on a planet for like an hour just for them to leave in a handful of pages) and though I was fine with it the first time around, by the 5th time I had had enough. The characters and their relationships were not fleshed out enough for my taste and I didn't enjoy the implied incest that was mentioned throughout the book. I love a good forbidden romance trope, just not THAT kind of forbidden romance trope. Overall this book did nothing for me and I will quickly forget about it.

I must say, the cover can certainly draw attention. Unfortunately, it didn't make up for the book. It never kept my attention.

It's nice to see some sci-fi in the world of romance novels! Stargazer is an up-tempo journey into a beautiful new world, lush with scenery and dynamic characters. I was glad to find some characters to love and some characters that I loved to hate! Cliffhangers at the end hook readers for the next in the series.
