Learn to detect and evade surveillance efforts that threaten your personal security. These time-tested tactics of observation, detection and evasion are proven effective against the most sophisticated surveillance techniques used in the world.
Whether you are among the lucky and privileged few who are members of the intelligence community or you're a pedestrian, this book Surveillance Countermeasures: A Serious Guide to Detecting, Evading, and Eluding Threats to Personal Privacy by ACM IV Security Services is an invaluable resource. It is detailed, and takes you step by step through the technical details, and it emphasizes on you, not the intelligence operatives. Grab this to know how those National Snooping Idiots Service guys trail you in their government funded idleness.
Being completely unfamiliar with the subject, I found the book very detailed, informative and technically excellent - it reads like a textbook written by someone who obviously knows what he's talking about. Both surveillance detection and avoidance are discussed in great detail, and countersurveillance and antisurveillance are covered to some extent as well.
The book is certain to appeal to readers with a paranoid bent - especially to those with good reasons to be paranoid - and could be an enlightening read to the average person, too. Unfortunately, the take-home message for me is - if you're ever going to be under surveillance, the probability of beating teams of professional operatives (like government agencies) at this game approaches zero.
The author could have condensed the information provided utalising just 10% of the pages. wordy and most of it you will already know just by common sense. I expected to learn more, a bit disappointed.
