This is the go-to text book for the practical City & Guilds Level 2 in Horticulture. However, as such it is impractical. Th most recent additions are a combination of Level 2 & 3 (advanced level, not necessary for most people entering horticulture so why combine?) but in the process of condensing text is missing, or sentences don't make sense, have gaps and are full of typos. In addition the information is dense, unnecessarily wordy and difficult to follow plus understand. It comes across as the authors presenting themselves as authorities that are gatekeeping knowledge, making information inaccessible. Contrived, convoluted, patronising and perpetuating an old-fashioned thinking about horticultural practise that is ultimately destructive and paternalistic to the planet.

I resent having spent a small fortune on this book as a retraining student which is proven to be so hard to follow and ideologically of so little use. Sometimes those who hold knowledge ned to check their own intentions before taking up the mantle of teaching.
