A short, straightforward biography of Florence Nightingale, whose faith and drive transformed nursing and medical care during the Crimean War and made her a national heroine. For ages 9-13.
My 8-year-old daughter gave this book four stars she enjoyed the story and likes nursing and thought the story was inspiring when you learned about Florence and all the good that she did in helping improve the lives of others.
I read this in Norwegian but couldn't find that version. Anyway this is a very sweet and informative book, the Copt I have is actually from my moms childhood and I think it is quite a lovely little retelling of this woman's life.
Although this book over romanticized the story of Florence Nightingales up rise into the world of nursing, it sums the history up nicely for someone who may not be aware of who she is or the influence she has had on modern nursing and peoples opinions on nursing as a profession - especially the opinions of the English in that era.
