Two strangers, Rosie and Dimitri, meet by chance one evening in London. After the hottest night of their lives they undertake a journey of sexual exploration into the world of BDSM. You've been seduced by 'Fifty Shades of Grey' now prepare to devour 'Kinky'. From Justine Elyot, the bestselling author of 'On Demand'. Kinky Cupcake is much more than a meeting place for like-minded BDSM enthusiasts - it's an all-purpose play space with dungeons, boudoirs and role-play rooms galore. So when Rosie and her new friend Dimitri blag their way in, they know they are going to have to convince everyone that they are a genuine BDSM scene couple The pleasures of domination and submission are explored, one by one, until Rosie and Dimitri's faked dynamic becomes all too real. But can their new bond survive outside Kinky Cupcake as well as inside its playrooms?
I am Justine Elyot. I love to write erotica and erotic romance. Elements you are likely to find in my work include: moustachioed melodrama villains, whips, wisecracks, knights in tarnished armour, damsels under duress, lovers, leather, aquiline features, references to popular songs. I massively overuse qualifiers like ‘really’, ‘quite’, ‘actually’ etc. and can’t resist the temptation to substitute long words for ‘said’. Reviewers either rave or cringe, with very little middle reactive ground (insert Marmite cliche here). Which will you do?
Rosie works at an advertising firm in London. From her office she can see a Warehouse and is intrigued by the people she sees coming and going. One night whilst working late she sees they have forgotten to put one of the blinds down on the window so she will be able to see in. She makes her way across to the warehouse when a stranger stops and asks for a light. He follows her and they look through the window together and see a classroom set up with adults dressed in school uniforms and a teacher with a cane and a girl getting spanked! Interrupted by Security, they run off and go to a pub for a drink where the stranger introduces himself as Dimitri who has just arrived in London from Russia. He speaks in broken English.
Not long after the participants from the classroom including the girl who was spanked come into the pub and Dimitri approaches them to ask if they know where a good fetish club is in London. Taking offence the 'teacher' and his 'pupils' leave but the girl who was spanked introduces herself as Trixitots and informs them that there is a club for BDSM and fetish and it's just around the corner! She tells them to inform the doorman that she sent them and gives them a password.
The club is called Kinky Cupcake, a meeting place for like-minded BDSM enthusiasts. Rosie and Dimitri blag there way in to the club after meeting with the owners by convincing them they are a genuine BDSM scene couple. After putting on a spanking display they are given entry to the club where they then meet once a week on a Saturday to explore their newfound delights in all things BDSM. This includes lots of spanking and an anal sex scene.
I have read books like this before that don't have much of a story or much of a connection between the characters but with this book, I really liked Rosie and Dimitri and the sex, whilst erotic is well written. You do need to suspend belief a bit towards the end when they declare their feelings for one another after only ever meeting on a Saturday for the last 3-4 weeks and never really talking or getting to know one another apart from having kinky sex. However, this is fiction so I'll fall for it!
If you like a bit of kink in your novels, you will thoroughly enjoy this.
Lust has a language all its own and kinkiness is a club where it's important to know the ropes. Not everyone is curious and not everyone who is curious will be converted. But if we don't know the language we are excluded, we are out in the cold.
Rosie is curious. She is warmly curious. Although she begins this novel out in the cold, she manages to get a peek inside, and what she sees makes her put her hand down her knickers.
You'll find hands going in and out of knickers quite a lot in this story. Knickers come down, arses get spanked and pussies get whipped. Rosie reveals all in the finest British English.
If language matters to you, and, like me, you get excited by pure British vowels and references to Nelson's Column, you will adore 'Kinky.' Rosie's vernacular is spot on. The novel has an urban lyricism that warms the cockles of your heart.
But it's international too. Rosie's kinky expectations are raised by a gallant mustachioed Russian called Dimitri, who speaks international English. He says ass instead of arse. He overlooks auxiliaries and fumbles prepositions. He abuses the definite article. Oh, we can all relate to that, can't we?
Rosie writes very delicately of their international relations. Her language is precise, sensual and explicit. She is no shrinking violet but everything is quite new to her and she records her experiences with bright enthusiasm. Everything has the sheen of newness and pulsates with dewy youth.
Needless to say, I was charmed by 'Kinky' and basked in its unpretentious brilliance. It told of lust in language I could understand.
What a breath of fresh air, unpretentious and more reflective of real life and ordinary people than the fantasy make believe BDSM billionaire worlds.
I loved writer Justine Elyot's way for ordinary people to meet by accident, be curious about and get into the local kink club by quick thinking, and gradually explore their fantasies and make them real. Very realistic way for the two main characters to interact. The unsurety of the relationship from her perspective, while Dimitri seems a cad at one time but constantly wanting to try things too and go with her flow so to speak but push her limits and extend them. I felt it demonstrated above all the need for trust and difficulties in new relationships. Loved it, and it is very London. More private clubs than public. Okay there's Torture Garden, Toppers and places like that. The time scale would be out and unrealistic for some but acceptable to others. There has always been sex between comparative strangers, at least here sense and responsibility reign and condoms used. As I said it was nice to be in ordinary world too...no rich suave billionaire's and all trimmings. Just an office girl and new immigrant wanting to make his way, in all our cities and towns in the UK you will see many immigrants and it was good to see the two characters mix so well and so quickly, without prejudice of origin.
I read this as part of my reading challenge theme on spanking and it fulfilled this on many levels, from warm up and hand spanking to the test and trial of different spanking implements...and the very real responses to each.
Loved this, will go and find her other stories and 5 star from me.
I really enjoyed this! Dimitri is a really original character. I loved him, his honesty and sincerity was very refreshing for a Dom. Rosie and Dimitri (strangers to each other)discover their shared interest & enjoyment of kink by spying through the window of a bdsm club. Together they decide to explore their fascination and in turn discover something special in each other. Justine Elyot is one of my favorite writers of erotica as she manages to weave romance with kink brilliantly. For those who like BDSM romance, this is highly recommended.
Good, slightly odd/neurotic in tone. On the surface, it’s about the FMC and MMC discovering their kinks at a secret BDSM club. It’s actually more than that with some emotional growth as the heroine learns and admits to herself what she likes.
I think this is a re-read. Not sure where I bought it, and I can't find my review.
This book was sort of bizarre. I guess it was hard to think of Dimitri, a skinny, Russian male with a Village People mustache as sexy. Though, I did love reading his heavily accented English and, sigh, he did sort of grow on me. But not until the very end. As for Rosie, she was just blah. I couldn't see her at all. Also, the BDSM sex club seemed sort of dirty, as in not quite clean. The author refers to floors as dusty and the suede on a table in the dungeon as worn. It just gave me the heebie jeebies. Also, the members were disrespectful of each other. I figured there'd be a rule to going after someone else's partner...or just bad form.
One thing I'll say, and that this story is different and memorable for that reason. So, if you're looking for something different, or found the guy with the huge mustache in the Village People hot, then this is the book for you!
This was honestly a little bit difficult for me to read (making it more difficult to review), as it was a bit out of my comfort zone. I had to keep reminding myself that I didn't have to actually imagine myself in the heroine's shoes. I had to start and stop a few times, rather than read right through--to kind of give myself a chance to breathe properly for a bit. But that's not a bad thing--it was just an opportunity to challenge myself, to push my boundaries, which is kind of what the story was all about too. And it was really well written, really something different in a genre that is often pretty formulaic.
A quick read about Rosie who is intrigued by the comings and goings in a building she can see from her office window. Whilst loitering outside she meets the colorful Dimitri who then extremely quickly ends up being her Dom in the intriguing building which is a fetish club, all happens very quickly with some slapping and caning added for good measure and love is declared very soon too.
Not much to this book and an evening to read is all you will need. The score indicates there are better reads available.
This is a hot and unexpectedly sweet, romantic story. The hero and heroine meet outside of a sex club. The heroine is spying in on a spanking/school room session when she is "caught" by the hero. They end up on an erotic adventure of sorts.
I really liked how believable the characters were. They both had strengths and weaknesses which were deftly portrayed. There is much more of a love story than I expected. Good stuff.
So this book was pretty boring to me.. It seemed to drag on longer than necessary AND the play scenes were boring and seemed "textbookish"... I don't know, maybe it was just me but I have read sexier and hotter non-bdsm books.. This one didn't even get my motor turned over, let alone running... I made myself finish it and I did like the end but overall.. It was just ok...
The book was OK and I read it all but it just didn't seem to grab me and pull me into it! The story line was lacklustre at best and you didn't find out anything about the characters apart from they liked a bit of mild bdsm
I didn't really enjoy this story I feel that it was a good idea but the execuation was poor. The story could have become something great but just ended up flopping. Plus the ending sucked in my opinion.
British woman meets Russian man on the street. They end up together in the Cupcake Club and develop an exclusive loving domination-submissive relationship. Good character development and the BDSM is Kinky.
"Quick, Light Read....". Light introduction to BDSM woven into a romance. Pleasant, quick read with plenty of description, enough to satisfy anyone curious as to the motives of BDSM.
L'ho letto senza alcuna speranza, non saprei nemmeno cosa dirne a riguardo, BSDM un po' trattato con semplicità forse. Lettura veloce, senza infamia e senza lode.
I quite enjoyed this book and it was quite an education about the world of BDSM. I liked it because it was a quick read too.I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
