When the Dark Comes Dancing is a compilation of bedtime poems which create peaceful images of the night, to lull the readers into drowsiness before bed. The poems span across all nighttime themes from the moon and stars, to being tucked in, to sleeping and dreaming.

This compilation of poems arranged by Nancy Larrick is designed to be a comforting close to the day, setting up its listeners for sleep. Though John Wallner uses great detail in his illustrations, each are done in pastel colors complementing the softness of the texts.

Grade Level: Kindergarten and up
Classroom uses: could be used as a transition into rest/quiet time, an astronomy lesson or characteristics of the night

Great book of poems to read to your children before bed. I wish I had not lost it in one of our many moves.
