This book was my absolute favourite as a child. Not only was it the first book I read in the series (back when my mother used to go to the library for me so I could access books that were “too old for me”, she picked this one out randomly), it introduced me to the world of Alpha Force and I just instantly fell in love with them. The added bonus is that there are so many Hex and Amber scenes and you really get the sense that they are super close now 🥺 they were basically my OTO before I knew what an OTP was haha.

But yeah this book has SO MANY twists and turns. You’re constantly on the edge of your seat. No one is safe. And there are adorable dogs in this book too!!

Oh this one is GREAT! A tight enviro-thriller with a lot of gripping survivalism and I love the dogs.

Target: Toxic Waste Flying to Northern Canada to investigate reports of illegal dumping of toxic waste, the Alpha Force team must dive into an icy river, cross the harsh landscape on snowmobiles and test their caving skills to complete their mission. But they need all their courage and determination when they come face-to-face with a man who is ready to kill - or take a hostage - to stop them.

This book is action-packed and exciting from beginning to end. I've found all Chris Ryan's young adult books to be enthralling and this one does not disappoint. The five members of Alpha Force are carrying out a study on seals in the arctic while also helping an environmentalist collect samples. They return from their last survey to find their friend murdered and themselves now a target.

The team have to keep themselves safe while trying to stop a crooked businessman from dumping toxic waste which is damaging, not only the environment, but also the people from a nearby village. One member of the team is badly injured, another taken prisoner. In a race against time they must battle the elements and the ruthless workers who will stop at nothing to keep their profits rolling in.

An excellent read

I enjoyed this one because it changed the style of how the characters dealer with the bad guys. The Alpha Force went on a vacation to Alaska, and soon found a company was dumping waste in a bay. Instead of going under cover and infiltrating the company they collected evidence of the dumping. Although there was no going undercover there were still dangerous instances where they Alpha Force barely got away. This series has been one of my favorites because of the action and the different ways that they solve their problems.

Love the Alpha Force Series and this was my favourite one; Hostage.
It was so realistic when regarding the callous nature of some people.
It will sit on my real bookshelf for the next generation.

PS; everytime I listen to Note from God by Jojo, it reminds me of this book.
