Dr Christopher Kurtz offers the readers 5 theories that determine some of the characteristics of a serial killer. Theories that are mostly based on American serial killers of the 70s and 80s. Emphasizing serial murder as a 'disease' developed in childhood and triggered by certain events. A must-have book for someone studying serial killers, but nothing out of the box (theories).
Refreshing approach and I agree wholeheartedly with the author's conclusions. It gels with my personal belief that at the heart of "evil" is fear. I also agree with author when he says it will take a conscious integration of all our resources to understand, and hopefully prevent, serial murder. There is no one cause we can point to and no one discipline will hold the answer.
