About the author

Helena Ivanovna Roerich (born Shaposhnikova) (Russian: Елéна Ивáновна Рéрих; February 12, 1879 – October 5, 1955) was a Russian philosopher,[2] writer, and public figure. In the early 20th century, she created, in cooperation with the Teachers of the East, a philosophic teaching of Living Ethics («Agni Yoga»).[3] She was an organizer and participant of cultural and enlightened creativity in the U.S., conducted under the guidance of her husband, Nicholas Roerich. Along with her husband, she took part in expeditions of hard-to-reach and little-investigated regions of Central Asia (1924—1928). She was an Honorary President-Founder of the Institute of Himalayan Studies «Urusvati» in India and co-author of the idea of the International Treaty for Protection of Artistic and Scientific Institutions and Historical Monuments (Roerich’s Pact). She translated two volumes of the «Secret Doctrine» of H. P. Blavatsky, and also selected Mahatma’s Letters («Cup of the East»), from English to Russian.

This was decent. Sometimes repetitive. Sometimes, maybe because of other things I've read, it gets basic. But I guess in a society that has lost the basic understanding of it's purpose and the purpose under which it is formed, you would need to remind those in leadership of the basics. Some excerpts:

"When will humanity finally learn wherein lies the true dignity of a people? When will humanity
finally realize that the innermost spirit must be protected and that the bearers of thought can properly guide a nation, as a single source? Similarly, the annihilation of thought can deprive a people of its power or confirmed influence. Therefore, more than anything else, a people must take care of their Helmsperson, for a boat without a helm cannot save them in a storm. For this reason the great care of the people and every organizing process must be based on the Hierarchy, for every structure must be imbued with Power from Above. Thus, until an understanding of the Hierarchy is affrmed, humanity will sink into the ignorance and gloom of decay."

"What state can flourish without a great Leader? What established undertaking can exist without
a Lord? One must truly understand that the concept of Leader represents the synthesis of one's highest aspirations. Hence only the concept of the Hierarchy of the Light-bearing Leader can give direction to spirit. So let everyone, one and all, consider well and remember the Power of the Hierarchy. Only through this understanding is it possible to advance. Only through this understanding is it possible to achieve. Let everyone remember that each stone thrown against the Hierarchy will turn into a mountain against themselves. So let everyone remember. This is how We proclaim the Leader-Hierarchy."

Insightful and Powerful

This book is a must read for students of the Agni Yoga series. It's equally insightful and powerful, and similar to Agni Yoga, will leave the student transformed.

It was an interesting read, repetitive at times. Focusing on ourselves, truly looking within, and then looking to see how we can help humanity and be of service with leadership was a great takeaway. I also liked the glossary!
