On a bright, summer day, a cyclone suddenly sweeps across the Kansas sky. A young girl named Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are carried up into the terrible storm. Far, far away, they crash down in a strange land called Oz. To return home, Dorothy must travel to the Emerald City and meet the all-powerful Wizard of Oz. I noticed that my younger brother has this illustration book of The Wonderful Wizard of the Oz which students around his age were assigned to read. The illustration is eye-catching and storyline is simplified so middle-grade students have fun reading it. I, myself, enjoyed it as well! It’s interesting to read an illustration version of a classic that I love
Una novela gráfica que no me dejó muy impresionada, tampoco era que lo esperaba. El arte no fue nada especial, basado en una historia ya conocida no tenía un buen flujo. Sirve para recordar la historia del Mago de Oz pero nada más que eso...
A very beautiful and detailed novel - it defiantly shows it worth to the original novel. It must take a lot of time to make something this detailed, and this book is great if you want to just look at the pictures (which are great by themselves), or just want to read the book as a break for chunky and large novels. The light humour in the book lifts your spirits, but I did find it extremly alarming when the Good Witch actually kissed Dorothy. I guess at the time it was made this was very innocent, and Im sure im taking it completly out of proportian, but when I saw it for the first time - it did grab my attention. Even so, its a good change of pace - have a look :)
REQUIRED: GRAPHIC NOVEL This book provides a fun fast read of "The Wizard of Oz." Martin Powell retells this story in a short concise way, which makes it easy to understand. One of the fun features about this book is that Powell and Jorge Break (illustrator)add puns into the illustrations and script so that those who have read this story before can look at it in a new way. The pictures are drawn well, they give a new view of each character, particularly Dorothy herself. The traditional Dorothy has become the brown haired heroin Judy Garland, but in this retelling the heroin has blonde hair and bright green eyes. A fun read that middle grade and YA readers would enjoy.
