This was basically a short story, written in a big font 🙄 Totally not worth the price tag.
* Mark annoyed me. He broke so many laws He basically didn't give a shit about anyone else at all. He only cared about himself.
* It was awful that Katie
* The ending to this also pissed me off. I hate non-concrete endings 😠 Sure he looked at the policeman's card before driving off, but based on the rest of the book, I'm not so sure that he wouldn't bin that, and go and buy doughnuts or something. Eejit.

Great book for teenagers. 👍
A pageturner of a mini novel.
Focus on the themes of relationships, disappointment, fitting in, decision making and consequences - All which are aspects, which many teens will appreciate.

Certainly one I will teach n reread with classes.
Will encourage good discussions n writing.

I’m always on the lookout for books pitched at older teenagers with reading difficulties and this fits the bill well. It raises some good discussion points for classroom learning, has a gripping plot and the text and layout of this edition is dyslexia-friendly.

Full Pott

It was a good enough book, but surely they should've been able to deduct that he drove the car due to fingerprints on the steering wheel etc (and possibly even dna and footprints)?

A cautionary tale of what happens when you don't tell the truth from the start.

This book was…so short lol. I like Anne Cassidy as an author, she’s done some great work. But this was not her best. It felt really incomplete, like it was just the Sparknotes version of the story rather than the book itself. It was very much a summary. I couldn’t get into the characters, but unlike the problem I tend to have with a lot of other books where that’s the case, it wasn’t because I hated them, or because the writing was obnoxiously over-descriptive. Rather, it was the complete opposite—there was barely any description at all. Yeah, there might’ve been a sentence or two saying that his girlfriend had a cascade of silvery blonde hair, or that the police officer was red-headed. But otherwise, I couldn’t picture or feel much of anything. It was like someone relaying the story to me orally. I didn’t know how to picture things, what the setting was like in much of it…where was the imagination? Cassidy sure has it, from other books she’s written. But in here, it was more like a script than a book. The ending was also extremely rushed…just when things start to get interesting, it ends. Done. Blank pages. What?? What about seeing what happens to him? What about seeing the full outcome? It’s like getting to the climax in a TV show, and then the power goes out. This is why the book was under 100 pages, it was like she didn’t really try…and I’m really not trying to be insulting, but that’s the best way I can put it. It seems really hard to make something that short. I know I always underestimate how long a scene I plan on writing will actually be. At best, this seems like one of those short stories assigned to students in Health class to teach them a basic moral.

At best a novella. And not a too gripping one. I felt right through the book as if my high school literature teacher was about to ask me some questions about the moral of the story, and where I thought the boy was driving to in the end. Not really an adult story.

I normally love Anne Cassidy's writing but this wasn't as good as any of her other books. The ending was a bit abrupt and it seemed like there was so much left unfinished. Did he ever get arrested? How did the ginger police officer know?

This was probably the worst thing I've ever read. Hated the main character. HE. WAS. SO. ANNOYING. Like the only thing he thought about was the car he wanted for his birthday??
