Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her. Can he face her without falling again?

Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them.

When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook.

In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both?

Ancient history is only the beginning.

THE WATCHER is perfect for readers who loved the forbidden and seemingly impossible romance of the Twilight series; the kick-ass, scary fight scenes between angels and demons in Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter series; and the hot fallen angels of Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush series.

Lisa Voisin has created an uplifting take of redemption, love and spirituality that proves there's hope for the human race. Never preachy, THE WATCHER is the perfect answer to critics who claim Young Adult lit is too dark.

I can definitely see this becoming a series, and I look forward to seeing just who (what?) Mia becomes. I have a feeling there's more to her than we think ...

The Watcher

I love this book!

I want to draw pink fluffy hearts around this book. When I was originally approached by Inkspell Publishing about reviewing an ARC of The Watcher I said yes because the cover is simply breathtaking. It might be silly to literally judge a book by its cover, but it’s always the first thing that I notice. Plus who doesn’t love angels? I mean really hot godlike creatures with wings? I’m swooning as I write this.

Mia Crawford is an amazing character, she might actually be one of my all-time favorites and that is saying a lot because I read more books than are probably healthy for me. Not only is she relatable, but she has this passion for knowledge and discovering the truth that I envy. Lisa Voisin has talent spilling from her hands with this story and you can tell it’s well researched. (Though I doubt many people have heard of the Book of Enoch, but I’m strange so I have.)

Voisin’s writing draws you in and right from the beginning you’re thrown into the thick of things and I love it. My problem with a lot of stories is they slow down so much that they get boring and it takes me forever to read because the story just doesn’t grab me. But The Watcher dug its hooks into me from the very first chapter on and I couldn’t put it down.

I adore the way Mia is written. She has just enough teenager in her that you can relate to her worries for friends and school, but not enough that you want to slap her and rant about how annoying she is. There is a balance between the two and Voisin has found it.

I’m pretty sure I enjoyed every character in this book and oh my god I totally want my own Michael! Michael Fontaine isn’t just the new kid at school, he’s a walking mystery and he has a secret that involves Mia. I really don’t want to give too much of this story away because I think it should be read with no real knowledge of what’s going on because it makes it that much more surprising when things pop up at you.

The ending honestly stunned me. I saw it going a different way completely and them BAM…twist! It was amazing. I sat there staring at my Kindle Fire when it was done and repeatedly swiped my finger across the screen, like, that’s it? There’s no more? Must have more! This is honestly the best book I’ve read in a long time and I urge my fellow bloggers and young adult readers to check it out!

Angels and demons are deliciously tempting Lisa Voisin’s THE WATCHER.

THE WATCHER drew me into the story and kept me there. The main character Mia has a delightful mix of teen and being older than her time, due to her past lives. The tormented angel Michael is torn between doing what he thinks is right and what his heart knows is right. Michael’s indecision drives Mia’s story and into the arms of the bad boy demon set to take what he wants. I loved the mix of modern setting and then flashbacks of an ancient world. Voisin’s beautiful descriptions added to the scenery feel of this novel.

The writing is visual, intense, and funny. Some lines had me laughing and were great to release the tense plot. The story is fast-paced, and the mystery surrounding the main characters kept me guessing and on edge. The romance was endearing, and I wanted Mia and Michael together, despite everything thrown between them.

THE WATCHER by Lisa Voisin swept me away into a world where lives can be relived, pasts come alive, and characters can fall in love all over again.

When Mia goes for a walk in the woods, she expects the day to be like any other. That is until she comes across a dead body and gets chased by spectral dogs with gleaming red eyes. When a young man appears out of nowhere, seemingly saving her, she’s haunted by the memory of him.

What Mia least expects is that he’ll turn up at her high school. Yet, Michael appears with a dramatic past and an indescribable draw for Mia. However much she’s interested in him, he pushes her away, though she can tell he doesn’t want to. When the truth surrounding his avoidance comes out, it will change Mia’s life forever.

The Watcher is one of those books that I didn’t want to end. I was sucked into the story of Mia and Michael from page one, and I couldn’t put the book down. Other reviewers have compared it to Fallen by Lauren Kate and I respect their opinion. After all, there’s a girl, an angel, and he falls right? However, after page one you won’t even remember that you once considered comparing them. The Watcher pulls you in with unexpected sexual tension combined with rich and unique characters. It’s a compelling thrill ride and a hit for Lisa Voisin.

Bottom Line: Buy The Watcher. You will swoon over Michael and worry for Mia. The whole book is a complex little ball of tension, suspense, and delicious history with a compelling message at its core.

Detailed Review:

*SPOILER ALERT* (Seriously, if you don't want to know what happens in the end, don't read it. I just always like spoiling books for people in my reviews. It's become a habit.)

To me the book went along the lines of Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but even then, I loved it: the cover, the characters, the plot.

The story starts one morning, when she sees a dead man in the park, and is immediately chased by a creature that seems like a dog. When she manages to escape, she spies a young man loitering in the park.

The man appears in Mia's school and introduces himself to be Michael Fontaine.

That's when everything changes. There is something familiar about Michael, and every time when they come close to something that might mean more than being friends, he pushes her away. But even then, they already have an attraction towards each other.

Then Damiel appears. He is seductive and sexy. Every girl in the school wants him, that is with the exception of Mia. She seems to sense something repulsive about him and stays away. After one of her friends committed suicide, she knows that it has something to do with Damiel because she had seen him whispering into her friends' ear earlier.

That's when Damiel decides to approach Mia. He asks her out for a date, and on the night of the date, Michael appears, after days of ignoring her.

Both of them want of her, but for what purposes?

Michael loves her. Damiel needs her for evil intents.

Michael is an angel. Damiel is a demon.

I cried when I read that part.

Sorry for being emotional lately. I guess books can be the cause of depression too. But besides crying, I was also left speechless. Like that:

Photobucket

Or like this:

Brief Review: I was left with nothing else to say. Honestly. I can't even find a word to describe the book. It's that good. So no missing it out. And the fun part is soon to come!

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

The Watcher is a story about a girl named Mia discovering teenage crushes and love seemingly for the first time. Her aim is set on the new kid, Michael- A kid repeating a second senior year and recovering from a near fatal accident. When another leather chad, motorcycle riding new kid arrives, once again Mia’s battling an unexplainable attraction. The trio has a past together, unbeknownst to Mia, even while she becomes yet another pawn in an ancient otherworldly rivalry.

The Watcher is my favorite angel fiction tale yet. Grigori Angels and their lust for human women…the shame….the undoubtedly unturnawayably lore of it. The forbidden fruit, so to say, has always been appealing to me. Lisa Voisin does an excellent job of drawing out the yearning, pinning, unbearable connection between the leading couple. It was painful and yet not dishearting to read. It keeps you rooting for their love to suceed even in the mist of the futility of it all.

Angels and human = Soul Mates Friends

The overall composition of The Watcher is genius and far more than just a love story. Aside from the main baseline, another tantalizing page turner of this novel is its mystery. There’s a clandestine plot of discovering the full story of the couple’s past while untangling angst temptation of forbidden romance.

It’s so hard to review this while containing my excitement and not giving too much away. I’ll leave you this one tipoff: There’s a fallen angel seeking redemption. His road to forgiveness becomes even harder when he’s faced with the very soul that made him fall in the first place.

Favorite Quote:
Since the last time we’d kissed, I’d been so careful around him, trying not to cross the invisible line that would either damn him or scare him away.

Check this one out. If you like plots filled with twists, romance, reincarnations, angel lore, demon lore, posession, inter-dimensional, and Shakespearean references; then read it for yourself. You can thank me later.

Big HUGE Thanks to Ink Spell Publishing and the author for entrusting me with an honest review.

I loved this novel. It was compelling, romantic and so much fun - I could NOT put it down! This world of angels and demons is so fascinating, there were times I got chills it felt so real. The story and the characters stayed with me long after I was finished the book. Voisin is an amazing emerging talent in the genre, I can't wait for the next book in the series!!

The Watcher by Lisa Voisin was a story of a love that goes back hundreds and hundreds of years. It’s a story of soul mates and a love that transcends time. What could me more romantic than angel who fell a thousand years ago all to be with a human girl he fell in love with. And who goes in search for her during her many lifetimes so that he can protect her and be close to her again. *insert sigh here*

Mia Crawford, a 17 year old high school student, doesn’t quite understand what is happening to her. She starts to see these wild, red eyed dogs that are intent on getting her. She starts to see things that those around don’t seem to notice. Is she going crazy? After witnessing one of these hellhounds pretty much devouring someone on the street, Mia thinks that there were no witnesses to what she saw…until she sees a guy her age, wearing jeans and a shirt.

And low and behold, on her first day back at school, who should happen to be the new guy at the school? The same guy she saw on the street….Michael. Although Michael seems to have some sort of feeling towards her…someone times nice sometimes not…Mia just can’t seem to get him out of her mind. Literally! She starts to see these images of a past life in another time, and the person she sees in these images is none other than Michael.

But Michael’s not the only one who’s new to the school. There seems to be a new hottie that’s making all the girls swoon, named Damiel. And Damiel has some sort of obsession with Mia! And not only that, but there also seems to be some sort of history between Michael and Damiel. One that is not so friendly.

But Mia, Michael, and Damiel apparently do have a past together. One that slowly unfolds and left me heartbroken and all full of emotion. It also seems that common denominator is Mia. Will the past repeat itself? Or will Mia be the one who’ll be able to change a past that has been slowly destroying Michael for a thousand years.

OMG you guys. As far as stories about angels go, The Watcher by Lisa Voisin is one that you definitely do not want to miss. With a story of eternal love and soul mates, there was no way that I wasn’t going to totally fall in love with this story. Author, Lisa Voisin, has an amazing writing style that totally captures the attention and hearts of readers.

I was instantly drawn into a world of fallen angels, hellhounds, and demons. The Watcher was story that was totally engrossing and was difficult for me to put down. What did annoy me a little was the hot and coldness of Michael. I mean, come on dude! Talk about mixed signals. I totally understand how he’s not able to be with her, due his past and current situation, but dude was messing with Mia’s head big time.

But what I did love was the love and devotion that Michael felt for Mia once the hot and coldness dissipated. I loved learning about their past and what they had together. And talk about evil villains! Damiel was wonderfully executed as the nemesis to our hero. And he got worse and much more evil as the story progressed! I do love me some good love stories, but to be honest, Damiel was the one that stole the show for me. And the end! OMG Damiel…I knew you had it in you! I. Just. Knew. It.

Fans of angel reads, especially ones involving fallen angels, will devour The Watcher by Lisa Voisin. If you enjoyed stories like Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, you’re gonna want to experience this story of love and loss, pain and heartache, and one of second chances.

"He tilted his chin to look up at me through his long, dark lashes and there was something so intense, so intimate, about his gaze that my breath froze in my chest."

Mia is the narrator of The Watcher by Lisa Voisin, an involved, engrossing and unique YA paranormal novel. The guy she is referring to in the quote is Michael Fontaine. I finished the book a short time ago but my heart is still on the pages with this unforgettable couple.

From the first pages, this story was engaging. The Watcher begins with Mia finding what she thinks is the body of a homeless man in the woods. He isn't dead, yet, but things turn creepy quickly when dark shadows began to move, grow, take shape and then growl. I certainly sat up and took notice. From then on, I was sucked into Mia's world.

Mia may be human but she's been seeing and hearing things lately. Strange things. The mysterious guy watching her from the park turns up in unexpected places, like the mall and school, and there's this feeling she knows him. Ha, don't mistake that "she knows him" as another typical insta-love story. The Watcher is more. Michael confuses Mia by acting aloof with her, then looking at her as though he cares. Their relationship took a while to blossom and Michael had his reasons. Then we learn their connection spans time and I mean time as in centuries, eons, millennium. I will say Michael and Mia's story is frustrating, romantic, touching and forbidden. I won't say more since I want to avoid spoilers.

For a novel over five hundred pages long, most of the time I wasn't aware of the story's length. There were a few slow spots here and there. I wasn't worried though, I was fully invested. Michael's world is a rich, inventive one sporting quite a cast of characters from a mentor angel who looks like a Victoria's Secret model to fallen angels, demons capable of possessing others to fiendish hell hounds. The mythology and history is vast and often times thought provoking. Mia is a nice girl, stubborn, caring, and someone I gladly supported. I do wonder about her ability to hear things. It was great to see she has a caring mother and older brother, even if Bill was away at college (he visited and called). Her closest friends, Fiona and Heather, and their boyfriends, and also Farouk, were all worthy secondary characters.

As much as I wanted to rush through reading, I took my time to better understand what was going on once Michael began to reveal information to Mia about his world and their past. At one point, I thought the story was ending when there was a showdown involving Damiel Lucas and I was wrong. Things were just getting started and the story took a different turn. The Watcher is quickly turning this vampire fan into an celestial being fan girl and Lisa Voisin is an author to watch.

This book is phenomenal! I was hooked in right away and didn’t want to stop. I did see just a tad resemblance to another few series that I adore, The Fallen series, and Halflings, but just a few things is all. In a good way.

This book has it all, the sweet forbidden love, two fallen angels , one who is trying for redemption, the other evil, and is now a demon. I loved the way the story was told. Kept you guessing what will happen next.

I really like when the book finally got to where Michael (swoon…) started to be nice to Mia, and not so cold. I do understand why he was that way, to keep her safe. But still, it makes you hurt for Mia.

Michael is totally swoon worthy for sure. I don’t want to spoil anything, so will just leave you with a few awesome teasers.

His hands gliding to the sides of my waist, he leaned in close—so close I stopped breathing—and kissed a tear that had fallen down my cheek. Afraid he’d back away, I lifted my lips to his, brushing against them, softly, tentatively at first, awakening the current that trembled through me. Twining my arms around his neck, I drew myself into him. And with a sigh, he tightened his arms around me, parted his lips, and the culmination of thousands of years of waiting poured out of him like a dam had burst.
The energy around us built with the wind off the water, rushing past my skin, tangling my hair. I wanted to be swept away, carried above the clouds to the heavens. For a moment, everything was warm and bright like the sun.

Also this part:

Gripping the front of his shirt, I pulled him closer, and he locked his arms around me like I’d always wanted him to, like maybe he’d never let me go. Sitting on the rock, he gathered me into him, sliding me onto his lap. My thighs straddled his hips and he let out the softest of moans, his lips grazing my throat, the side of my neck, the line of my jaw, before returning to mine.
With a sharp inhale, he tensed and stopped kissing me. His eyes flashed a warning look—full of fear, as though he’d gone somewhere fathomless inside himself that he’d sworn he’d never go. Standing, he guided me off his lap. When he spoke, his voice took on a deep timbre.
“We’re not alone.”

Be sure to check this sweet Paranormal romance out, with some suspense and action too.

What would you do when you see an unconscious body lying on the ground?

The Watcher begins with Mia finding an unconscious body lying on the ground but before she could figure out what to do, unidentifiable shadow creatures started chasing her and instead of helping the unconscious person, she had to run for her life …

I really like the opening scene – it’s thrilling, haunting and mysterious. As the story unfolds, I find Mia facing one challenge after another. It’s definitely not an easy journey for Mia to go through but I’m glad that she learns a whole lot more about herself as well as the implication of her dreams as she endures the torments from the demons. Her friends are very nice people. Even when Mia seems to be acting a little weird, they still care for her and I really enjoy reading about the friendship that they have.

When two new boys, Michael and Damiel, show up at school, Mia feels drawn to Michael but Damiel seems to be very interested in trying to get her attention. I wouldn’t say there is a love triangle here (because Mia is not into Damiel) but with Michael holding back without giving her a good explanation, Mia feels rejected. I wouldn’t say Michael is an insensitive person (because he is not) but the way he treats Mia at the beginning is just … plain cold.

I like how things are revealed in the story. There is always something a little unexpected (but nothing confusing) happening, and while there are aspects that touch on topics like conscience and spirituality, I didn’t find the plot preachy. Probably because the souls of the main characters are fairly old (as in a few thousand years old), the conversations sometimes sound as though they were coming from sages instead of teenagers but strangely (and I mean this in a good way), I didn’t find that bothered me as I was reading the book.

What I found the most fascinating was the level of enjoyment that I had when I read the scene about Mia receiving an intuitive reading. Instead of finding the reading unrealistic or overly dramatized, I liked that it felt real and honest. It seems that Voisin knew the subject of intuition very well and I’m grateful that she shared her wealth of knowledge in the book.

With demons constantly lurking to strike, The Watcher offers a good dose of mystery with sword-wielding action and heartbreaking revelation. I had an enjoyable time reading this story and I look forward to reading more of Voisin’s work in the near future.

I absolutely love this book! I liked everything about it, from the cover to the characters in the book. The Watcher has definitely something for everyone. There is mystery, romance, and godlike angels that will leave you wanting for more. The story starts off with Mia finding an unconscious body, frozen with terror she doesn't know what to do as soon as she seeing shadows. Right from the start I was able to see something unique about Mia, as a student, she comes as a relatable character. But as soon as Micheal comes into the picture, everything around Mia starts to change. Not only is he a good looking guy, but he also possess a secret of his own. Something so big that he has being hiding from everyone, including Mia. One of the things that I like about Voisin's writing is that is well thought out and researched. I was able to understand different points that she brought out in the story. Overall the story left me wanting fore more, I became addicted to Mia's and Micheal’s romance from the beginning that it was hard to put the book down. As a page-turner, it's evident that Voisin did a amazing job describing the characters as well as the surroundings. There are twists and turns to the story that will leave you wanting to know what happens next. I felt that the ending was too sudden, I wanted to see more! Nevertheless, it was a great story, and definitely one of my favorites. I recommend it to those readers that like a good dose of godlike angels/guys and romance.

It was my own desire that made me kiss him, but his response tingled and rushed through me like a spell. I was playing with something strong and tempestuous and I wanted to be consumed by it. My life. Me. I didn't matter. This mattered.

There is something that just appeals to me on a whole other level when it comes to Angels and Demons. I'm truly a sucker for these types of books, so as soon as I heard about The Watcher I knew that it was a book that I would definitely read. So when Lisa Voisin contacted me about being a part of the blog tour and reviewing it, I was beyond excited.

Mia Crawford is not your typical teenage girl. Yes she has a great group of friends and is part of a fairly popular crowd, but what sets her apart is the fact that she sees things that none of her friends do. The Watcher starts off with Mia stumbling upon a body and coming face to face with a red eyed creature in the park. Catching sight of a boy lurking in the trees, Mia is surprised when the new boy at school Michael Fontaine turns out to be the same boy that she saw it the park but when she questions him about it, he claims to have no idea what she is talking about.

Sitting across from me, he didn't seem too dangerous, unless you could kill someone with good looks. In which case he was lethal.

But Mia feels a connection to him and can't help but be drawn to him. Michael seems to always be pushing Mia away and for a little while there I was confused as to where their relationship was going.. Especially when there was the introduction of bad boy Damiel who is in no way backward in his intentions when it comes to Mia. But Michael has secrets and Mia is determined to find out what they are.

Mia is such an amazing character. At first she come off as a bit meek and mild, but as we get to know her better she is really anything but. As we learn what the past connection is between her and Michael and then the things that she endures in the present, you really get an understanding of her true strength.

The struggles that Michael was going through had my heart breaking. He was so torn between what he wanted and desired against what he perceived to be the right thing to do. To be so in love with someone and to believe that you can't be with them. To have an overwhelming need to care for them and protect them. Michael and Mia were beautiful together. There was friendship, tenderness, love, desire, heat and passion. If you don't fall in love with Michael than there is something seriously wrong!! He is deliciously appealing!!!

"Every day on earth, as beautiful as it is, can never touch the beauty of Heaven."

Lisa Voisin has written a fantastically engaging story. The Watcher was a book that I fell completely in love with and I was incredibly sad to see it end. If you love the idea of good verses bad and right verses wrong combined with a love that defies the constraints of time, then The Watcher will capture your heart the same way that it did mine.

5/5 madly in love with Michael stars!!

'The Watcher' shouldn't have captivated me the way that it did.

Why?

It's the same old YA story, that's been told a hundred times, in a hundred different ways... or is it?

For all intents and purposes, Mia is a normal high school girl with a fascination for ancient cultures. A seemingly random event at the park throws her into a path that reveals more about her soul than she ever could imagine.

And into the path of the fallen angel that has loved her for a millennia. He has sworn to protect her, but resolved to build an impenetrable wall around his heart. But the return of his nemesis with his own resolve to claim her for his own has thrown a wrench in Michael's plans. The longer he is at her side, the harder it is for him to deny the strength of the ties that binds the two of them together.

He walked away from everything he was when he first met her. Will he forfeit his chance at redemption to be with her again?

The intensity between them was heart palpitating. The story line was filled with an array of emotions. From anger, to vengeance, anguish, hope, despair and undeniable love that brought the inevitable sting of tears to my eyes. 'The Watcher' had it all and more.

I was emotionally drained at the end of this, in a good way.

A YA romance that I highly recommend for YA Paranormal Romance lovers out there.

It was an awesome read!

Full review on April 21...

My thoughts...

From the summary to the cover I loved everything about the story. Lisa Voisin is an amazing author, she wrote such a full filling celestial story filled with lust, action, magic and regrets. The story begins when Mia sees an unconscious body then she was attacked by some kind of dark shadow. Michael saw it all happen, but refuses to acknowledge her. Yes, he's brooding, gorgeous, sexy and hot. But he has secrets of his own. Secrets that Mia shouldn't put her nose in.

Michael was given a second chance on earth, but he was tested again by God himself. Will he choose heaven or his lustful demands for a woman? A test that will prove it all. A revenge that will break it all. A soul that will save you all...

I'm so proud and happy to say that I am part of Lisa's Street Team, she has been nothing, but awesome for the past months. As I've been reading through The Watchers, I can understand the passion Lisa has for her writing. Flawless, I might add. Biblical in a way and full of emotions and thoughts. The story was well polished and unputdownable.

The twist and heartaches brought it all to a big BOOM! I had to tear through all the pages because of curiosity. Lisa has this talent for entrancing her readers to read on. I couldn't blink an eye.

The writing was solid and visual. Lisa wanted her readers to feel like as if we were the characters in the story. Her writing was powerful and effective....some were hilarious. I swear some lines just made me crack up. I'd recommend this to everyone. Fast pace and powerful? A must read.

4 epic stars for you Lisa!

This was a great read! Lisa Voisin really drew me in with this story. The character’s and premise are phenomenal. The idea that you could fall in love with an angel and they would fall from heaven to be with you is both sad and makes your heart thump. Mia and Michael have been through this once before. Now, they are meeting again after millenia have gone by. The attraction is still there connecting their souls. Michael has been given a second chance after falling, but must face Mia again to be let back into his heavenly brotherhood. They must know he will choose God and Heaven over a woman. All the while fighting their natural urges they must also fight the evils of Demons trying to attack Mia and her friends. Along with being normal teenagers they must deal with a battle of epic proportions that only few can see. Will Michael make the same choice or will Mia feel the pain of losing her angel again?

I loved this story. The characters were well-developed and the story well thought out. But, I am a sucker for a good love story that carries over time. Thought Michael and Mia are teenagers I really felt they were much older than they seemed. Lisa Voisin does a wonderful job illustrating the battle between Angels and Demons along with the battle between choosing love and lose. Overall, a wonderful Young Adult read. I would recommend this for anyone who loves a good love story, especially one with celestial challenges.

Rating: 3.5

"I was in a world beyond my imagining, a world of angels and demons, with rules and consequences I hardly understood. But beneath all of it was love, as though it were the basis of everything." -Mia

The Watcher brings a nice spin to the average angel read. A unique plot that I haven't read before. I enjoyed following along with Mia and Michael as they went through the internal and external battles that kept them apart. The beginning of the book, to me, was a bit slow and sorta dragged on but the second half was awesome! It definitely redeemed the book for me. There's a twist towards the end that was so freaking amazing. I didn't expect that at all but I'm so glad it happened because it brings hope to Mia and Michael. There is no cliff hanger ending but not everything is completely resolved so its left open ended; a sign that a sequel is yet to come! Filled with romance, mystery, and action, this novel will sure keep its readers on their toes.

"…no matter what happened in our past, I trusted him, and not just because it was so long ago that I didn't care what he did. There was nothing he could do that I wouldn't forgive or accept, and the idea of being in love with someone that much freaked me out-mostly because it didn't feel wrong. It may have been against the rules, but nothing about loving or being with him felt wrong." -Mia

A girl who learns that the face in the mirror looking back at her, is not truly hers. When we first meet Mia, she's a girl with only a few friends and who doesn't go out much. And when it comes to dating, she's not really that interested. Until she meets a boy who makes her heart skip a beat and makes it hard to breath. Then, her life is turned upside down. She is suddenly thrust into a world where her sanity is tested. I've read some reviews and a few mention how Mia is so emotional all the time and I could see how some readers could be put off by that but if you view it through her perspective you might see it differently. I understood that learning about her true identity was very difficult for her. If what happened to her, happened to me, I think I would probably have a meltdown. I'd be so confused as to who I really was so I didn't hold that against her. Throughout the book, Mia evolves from the lonely girl not willing to accept what's right in front of her to finally accepting who she really is and ready to sacrifice to save the one she loves. For the first time in her present life she experiences falling in love and also learns that everyone, no matter what they've done in the past, deserves a second chance.

"Love. Michael had told me to love. I loved him with every cell of my body and every beat of my heart. I knew it as I knew my own name or the color of my own skin." -Mia

A boy who is far more than what he seems. On the outside, like a drool worthy teenage guy but in actuality, he's a fallen angel who is on his way to redemption. After waiting a few hundred years for his chance to earn his way back into heaven, Michael is more determined than ever to right his wrongs and finally be able to come back home. As a test, he is born into the body of an 18 year old and is tasked with guarding humans. He thought his task was simple until the day he was reunited with someone from his past. The one person he loved more than anything and who he once gave up everything for. Now the real test begins; especially once danger arises. Throughout the entire book he goes through a series of internal battles. He still feels that pull towards Mia but he knows that to his people its viewed as wrong. I loved how through his actions and words, it was evident just how much he loved her back then and still does. As he does his task, battles with himself and demons, will he be able to be around her and keep his priorities in check? Will he be able to stop the past from happening again? and the most importantly, will he risk everything for her, again?

"There was longing in his eyes that told me his desire to go home again was at least as strong as his desire to be with me. He was conflicted. Once, he'd given up everything to be with me. I didn't want it to happen again, no matter what that meant for us." -Mia

Overall, The Watcher was an enjoyable read and one I would recommend to readers who enjoy angel paranormal reads. Although, to me, it had a few flaws, I feel that the characters and the second half of the book definitely redeem it. I'm looking forward to the sequel and hope that Mia & Michael find the strength to overcome all the hurdles that lie ahead.

"This must be what Heaven is like," I muttered into the sheet, millimeters away from his skin. "You in my arms?" I could hear the smile in his voice. "Yes, its close." -Mia & Michael

In the darkness, Michael's eyes flamed with golden light as they searched mine. "Is there something you love?" he asked…"You," I blurted, surprising myself. Heat rushed my face. He grinned… "You love me?" "More than myself sometimes." That startled him. "Never more than yourself. I'd never want that." "I can't help it." -Michael & Mia

3.5/5 stars.

Like many folks who read and review YA books, I have been burned by many an angel book in the past. So it was with some trepidation that I started The Watcher, hoping it would be more like my reading experience for Sweet Evil (pleasantly surprised) than my experience with Hush, Hush (seriously annoyed). I'm happy to report that I can easily put The Watcher into the "good" category. I enjoyed our main character, Mia, quite a lot, and found myself swooning right along with her when it came to Michael.

The Watcher has a well-developed angel lore that's used throughout the book. I liked that Michael isn't just saintly good; he's a fallen angel who is recovering from his past mistakes, and that added a different sort of vibe to his interactions with Mia. I liked the nods back in time to previous civilizations, and the fact that Mia and Michael had a history. It was interesting to see Mia's visions of her past, and to hear Michael's explanations about what happened. Now, admittedly, because they do have this past, their relationship in the present seems rather insta-lovey, but it's excusable because they do have already established feelings for each other. I liked how Mia weaved her way through her memories of what was and what was her current reality.

There is a definite sort of epic-ness to the plot of this book. There's a lot of good versus evil, and Mia finds herself caught right in the center of it. It was interesting to have the inside look at what angels and demons in this universe do, and I liked the way everything evolved. I enjoyed reading about Michael's struggles with his feelings for Mia and the way he had to fight not to lose himself (or, more notably, his wings). There's a lot of back and forth, and nothing is completely resolved at the end, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a sequel at some point. I am definitely curious as to how things are going to be satisfactorily resolved in terms of the emotional aspect.

The Watcher is an angel book, but - at least for me - brings some new ideas to the table. Those who are leery of another Fallen or Hush, Hush will probably be pleasantly surprised with Ms. Voisin's rendition. The characters are enjoyable, and while it's a long book, I didn't really feel the length while I was reading. I think most paranormal fans will be quite entertained with Michael and Mia's story.

'The Watcher' is a young adult paranormal romance that follows Mia Crawford - our 17-year-old leading lady - as her entire world is turned upside down once she realizes that the world she thought she knew isn't what it seems. After being attacked by a mysterious and terrible creature one day, Mia turns to Michael Fontaine - who claims to know nothing of the things she describes. Mia is sure he's hiding things from her and is constantly confused by the strange feelings she has around him - the way he makes her feel and the weird images of a different time and place that fill her mind. Determined to find answers, Mia goes on a journey where she discovers her past life - one that was filled with jealousy, love, and revenge. It also shows the devastating details of her previous death and the angel cast from Heaven for loving her. Mia must know decide if she will seek out her fallen love or let the past fall far behind her.

This was a very intense and beautiful novel unlike any other I've read before. It's full of deep topics like betrayal, jealousy, spiritual concepts, past lives, reincarnation, and true love. Mia was a great main character. I found myself immediately liking her and I could easily identify with her and her struggles. She was a realistic character with obvious flaws, but she was also really endearing. Michael was a great lead male character and I felt that his personality fit perfectly alongside Mia's. The plot of the story wasn't completely original, but it was done in a way that both broke my heart and filled it with hope and love at the same time. The romance and story of true love that broke all boundaries really moved me - and I usually roll my eyes at these types of situations in books and movies. The way that the author wrote the book was simply enchanting and definitely shows her immense talent. I was immediately sucked into the book alongside Mia and I didn't want the story to end. The pace was fast but not rushed and all the various threads of the story were intertwined seamlessly throughout the book. I don't want any spoilers in this review, so I'll stop while I'm ahead. Suffice it to say that this is a completely enthralling novel by a hugely talented author and I'm definitely going to be crossing my fingers for a sequel. Highly recommended for fans of YA fantasy and those who love an amazing love story.

I freaking loved this book. I am not that big of a fan of angel books, so I did not think I was going to like it that much, but I was pleasantly surprised. (:

The main character, Mia is so adorable and I just wanted to shield her from the bad things that happened in this book. I enjoyed reading from her perspective and slowly finding things out about her past as she discovered them. I also felt that those discoveries, and the story itself, were well paced.
I love how her character has a fascination with archaeology and past civilizations. (: It makes her a more interesting character who was not completely in the dark about everything. Nicely done.

Michael. Damiel. Ah, teenage Angst. The popular love triange. I was not too bummed out by the prospect of the love triangle because it wasn't really a triangle, you know? (: So I didn't have to hate the main character for it. Which, sadly, happens. But not in this case!

I loved the supporting characters, like her best friends and classmates. And no teenage love story is complete without a school bully making someone's life a living hell. It had all the dynamics of a good romance with fascinating paranormal elements. I do not want to give too much away, because I hate spoiling books, but this one character is a total bad-ass villain! And you know how I love my bad guys bad.

I read it all in two sittings (I started in the middle of the night and passed out with my kindle snuggled in my arms. awkward) Sheer exhaustion was the only thing that was going to get me to stop reading it. And yes, before you ask, I did dream about Michael and Damiel. ;) haha.

The Feelings! :|
The Romance! ;)
The Betrayal! D:
The Villain! muahaha.

This book was engaging, well- written, and- being a book about angels& demons/ heaven&hell- did not totally suffocate me with too many religious aspects. I loved it! <3 Loved it, I tell you! And people, the cover did not hurt either.
I mean, it was not all Sunshine and unicorns. I am just blocking the part out of my head so I am not traumatized O.O It is not exactly a light- hearted read, but then it is not exactly a heart- breaking read... It's somewhere in the middle. I guess. I just got finished reading it, so my feelings about that aspect are still a little unclear.
What is clear? Um. I loved it. :|
And I want you to write more books [Lisa]. Now. :P

So I have to say that I loved the sweet innocents of this story. Mia and Michael have a love that is centuries old. They have been through alot and will continue to go through alot for the love that even 9000 years wont deny.

The story begins with Mia finding a dead body and being chased by wild dogs. She sees a boy in the shadows but he dissappears. Later she sees the same boy and is freaked becasue she things she has a stalker. School starts and she is hanging with her friends when said boy appears to be a new student. Michael is very rude to Mia but also seems attacted by her. They do alot of fighting and trying to be friends but something just is "off". Then enters Damien who is Mr. Bad-Boy that every girl seems to want except Mia. Well its pretty obvious Damien is a real life bad boy who wants Mia because of century long drama between him and Michael.

I loved the sweetness of the story. I also loved how Mia and Michael seemed very selfless in their love for the other person. They were awalys trying to do the right thing, even if it wasnt the best idea. I loved that there was sexual tension but it stay as tension in the book. I would allow an older teen to read this novel. I think that the book started and grabbed you right from the beginning. I sat and read most of this book in one evening. I finished reading it the following night. I think it is written very well and the author does a great job describing what is going on and what is happening.

I loved this book! If you're a fan of Romance, than you must read The Watcher- it's bursting with it!

Mia was a great narrator and a very relatable heroine. I really enjoyed experiencing the story through her point of view.

Michael...well I fell pretty hard for this man. He has an angelic, masculine beauty about him, that appealed to both Mia and I haha. Although I should admit that I was frustrated with him through a good portion of The Watcher. I understand why he remained mysterious and distanced himself from Mia, for her own protection, but I kind of wanted to encourage Mia to grab hold of him and shake him down for answers.

The chemistry and romance between these two was electrifying and LITERALLY spans many centuries and lifetimes. I was so jealous of the relationship and emotions these two share for each other, and Lisa does a great job of creating such sweet, tender and steamy moments, between these two, that warmed my heart.

I really loved Damiel as well! He has that Damon/Wes quality about him, he's definitely been labelled the resident bad boy, but he has many layers to him. And you just want to be the one to redeem him! haha.

The pacing of the plot was great and well thought out, and the ending leaves an opening for more but gives you enough resolution that you won't to throw your kindle/book against the wall. Kindles everywhere are thanking you Lisa! haha

The only complaint I have is that I thought it was kind of in poor taste for Mia and her friends to continue their plans to go to the movies (you have to read the book to understand my meaning behind this).

Romance fans read this book, you won't be disappointed!

Happy Reading!!!

If I had to describe The Watcher in one word it would be luscious! Thankfully, I can use so many more words to describe it. One might think that luscious is a strange word to be describing a paranormal romance that is filled with tension and excitement but it isn’t. Every sentence on every page is luscious and full.

Here’s a small passage from the book that exemplifies what I mean:

“Instead of saying more, he brushed his fingertips along my cheek, and his halo glimmered. I could hear the waves slapping the rocks behind us, the wind whipped against my skin, but the touch of his hand on my face was all I could think about. It sent a current through both of us and filled me with longing for something I wasn’t sure I understood.”

I melted when I read that paragraph; it conjured up so much for me – love, longing, acceptance and of course lusciousness. The Watcher is filled with such imagery and draws you into a vivid and engaging world. With every turn of the page I am further drawn into the poeticness that Lisa Voisin brings forth. I am emotionally invested in the characters of Mia, Michael and even Damiel and I want to know and see and feel everything that they are doing and Lisa provides all of those answers.

The Watcher is a magically crafted novel with such incredible writing. Sentences jump off from the page; the book has become a movie in my mind that I can revisit anytime I like. It is alive and full and I fully recommend it.

I thought this book was unique. I liked the concept. They wrapped redemption, love and evil all up in one pretty package. The choice between good and evil is not as easy when the lines are blurred.

This book surprised me from the beginning to the end. It didn't keep me on the edge of my seat the whole way through it, but it was a steady read. The twists and turns were enjoyable and I liked watching Mia's life unfold as well as Michael's.

Mia was a good character, but I really liked Michael's the best. I felt that even though Mia was the main character, Michael was the one with the growth. He starts out seeking redemption in the beginning and transforms throughout the pages. I even enjoyed Damiel's character. He was everything I was expecting.

There was a lot about this story that was good and original. I don't want to give the twists and turns away, so I suggest you pick this four glittery star read up for yourself!

I have read this book twice and learned something new each time. Found myself talking about it again over the past few days....and I want to read it again.
It has a depth to it that many won't grasp...some may say it's too simple or unbelievable. I know it to be true! It brought forward many memories of who I am, who I have been and who I have yet to become.
I am very much looking forward to the 2nd and 3rd books....and while I wait, I re-read this one.
There is much learning to be done ....thanks Lisa!

Upon finishing the reading of The Watcher, a Charlie Feathers tune immediately came to mind…”I’ve Been Deceived”. I always denied that I could have my head turned by a pretty cover, but now I must admit, publicly, that I have a problem* hanging my head shamefully*.

The Watcher is the story of Mia Crawford, a high school senior who wonders if her eyes are ears are playing tricks on her. She sees things that none of her friends do – black dogs with demon-like eyes, winged creatures and mist. Are the voices in her head or is she actually hearing people talk? (After awhile, I didn’t even care if I learned the answer to those questions; I just wanted to finish the book so I could say I wasn’t a quitter.)

Entire the two boys who are part of the obligatory love triangle and all of its typical YA Fantasy glory – Michael (the good angel) and Damiel (the fallen angel). Yep and that’s all I have to say about them.

Readers, including myself, who have read the Fallen series by Lauren Kate, will immediately want to cry FOUL upon reading The Watcher. The stories are very similar and let’s admit the “story” has been done time and time again and almost beaten to death. Angels? Check. Demons? Check. Love Triangle? Check. Girl who is beautiful, sweet and amazing, that doesn’t seem to know it? Check. I was disappointed throughout the book, it was so cliché, but I think I could have stomached the disappointment if the book had included the ancient history that was touted to be tied into the story in a greater fashion.

The Watcher …look at the pretty cover, but don’t open it.

This book was amazing! As soon as i started reading i couldn't put the book down without wanting to cry because i couldn't keep reading. I don't think there was anything in this book that i would change or fix to make it better! It has an interesting twist at the end and it will keep you hanging of your dear life. I highly suggest reading this story and many more by Lisa Voisin.
The main character in this story is Mia. Mia is interesting because she has lived for a long time but she's also a teenager. Its not going to make sense unless you read the story. Lisa makes it so that Mia is not an annoying, bratty, stuck up teenager, but also not a boring, shy, unpopular person. She makes it so Mia is a mixture and is in the middle which makes it ten times more interesting! Mia has many secrets but she meets this guy who has many secrets that Mia didn't even know about herself.

Michael is a new kid at school who is hot beyond compare to all the boys and very outgoing and popular. He goes to the same school as Mia because he has secrets about her and can't stop thinking about her. Michael is a very confused guy because he can't decide wether to follow his heart and do whats right or do whats actually right but not for his heart. He decides to follow his heart but causes many consequences for everyone especially Mia.

I wasn't really a fan of Lisa Voisins stories before i read this story. Her stories grabbed your attention at the very beginning but it slowly lost my interest. This story though never lost my interest and i just couldn't put it down. The ending is what really got me excited. It leaves you hanging and you don't want it to end. I really hope she makes a second book to follow this one because i would snag it right off the bookshelf as soon as it came out. Again i highly suggest everyone to read this book i promise you will enjoy it!

The Watcher is a well written YA tale of eternal love, redemption and impossible romances. 17 yr old student, Mia Crawford is your typical HS senior until a trip to the park changes everything. The story features a love triangle, lots of tension, emotion, suspense, a rich history, and strong characterizations. While I think the main theme of the story has been done before, the author gives the tale enough twists and turns to keep the reader from feeling they have seen this all before -- just with different characters.

I'm not one for spoilers in reviews, so I wont rehash the story or plot, but I will say I was drawn into the story from the beginning and Ms Voisin did an excellent job of keeping me there until reaching the end. I never felt the story line was predictable or felt I knew what was coming before it did -- something that I come across a lot when reading YA stories. That was a nice change for me.

Even the secondary characters felt real and well defined. I would have like to "Like" Michael a bit better, but for me at least, he was a bit annoying in that he was forever sending Mia mixed signals that at some points made me want to reach into the book and throttle him. That being said, he did get me to react emotionally -- which I can appreciate because it means despite his flaws, he was a nicely complex character.

I'm giving this 4 stars because of the Michael annoyance factor and because I would have liked to see some of the ancient lore referenced in the tale to be a bit more fleshed out and a bigger part of the overall story.

I would highly recommend this story to any YA romance fans and anyone who enjoys a good Angels and Demons tale. Looking forward to checking out more work by this author.
