"No One Makes It out Alive: an end of the world anthology" is in short a collection of writings about the end of the world. The genres and subject matter of these stories stretches from zombies to nuclear war and from comedy to erotica, with mostly everything else covered in-between.

This anthology was edited by writer, columnist, book reviewer, and magazine owner Hydra M. Star.

About the author

Hydra M. Star began her/zir existence as one half of a set of twin fetuses. She/Ze ate her/zir twin in utero. Almost from her/zir birth—as an only child—she/ze had an intense interest in all things mysterious and magical. As she/ze aged, her/zir taste matured and darkened from the Disney-esque styled fairy stories of childhood to the Erotic Horror and Dark Fantasy she/ze writes and publishes today. Her/Zir work is often inspired by legend and folklore, with violent werewolf sex being one of her/zir favorite things. Consider your triggers warned.

In addition to writing, Hydra was also the publisher of Infernal Ink Magazine and the owner of Infernal Ink Books, both of which she/ze used as platforms to bring the most twisted and sexually depraved horror and dark fiction she/ze could find to the world.

"No One Makes it Out Alive", an end of the world anthology, brings together a brilliantly imaginative group of authors, who skillfully cavort in the dystopian playgrounds of humanity's end-of the-world predictions. After reading, Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains" when I was young, I fell in love with the aspects of any writer's imagination that could visualize a dystopian and/or utopian future. Much like Ray Bradbury's work, this anthology not only draws out images of the negative characteristics inside every person when confronted by extreme circumstances, but also the instances of small acts of kindness. Focusing on the beneficence, the heroism, or our strength in the face of ruin … brings to mind the wonderfully crafted forward of "No One Makes it Out Alive" - It may be the end of the world as we know it … but I, too, feel fine. Beyond prophecies, potential mass hysteria, devastation, rumors, rhymes, or particulars, at the heart of these intricate beautifully crafted stories is a glimpse of the human condition. And I would highly recommend this book to other readers, with an interest in the sociological facets of Science-Fiction, or just a rousing tale -- where, no one makes it out alive.

A collection of thrilling fiction on the subject of the end of the world. In this Ragnarok Year, it seems most appropriate that this publication surfaces.

This book pokes fun at armageddon fears, ranging from the erotic to the comedic, all the while being quite dramatic. Catastrophe often creates vital focus on the necessity of survival for the living, modifying behavior and engendering evolution, while the unfit perish. So while the herd seek imaginary rewards with self-depriving mythological notions beyond the grave, being the veritable zombies they are, otherwise fostering preoccupations with conspiracy theories, the truly strong individual appreciates & experiences existence to the utmost.

With several writers offering their particular styles and genre expressions under the theme of global cataclysm, this recommended anthology proves to be most entertaining from various perspectives through fictional prognostications & fun-fear.

The cover art by Dave Lipscomb features a skull blending in with the earth, asserting the fears of mankind of apocalyptic scenarios, this book essentially serves as a literary memento-mori, with each story as cause for contemplation upon the preciousness of life and carnal indulgence.

If you are looking for the kind of stories to make you all nice and fuzzy warm inside then this is not it......unless you get fuzzy warm from different ways that IT all ends. They say never judge a book by its cover but by just looking at this cover (by the very talented Dave Lipscomb) you know your in for a manic-depressive treat. The stories in this book run the gamut of delicious destruction that will either keep you up night and make you think for days. The last time I read an anthology like this that got to me was an anthology from the 1980's called "Nukes ". Hydra M. Star has edited an amazing anthology that rates up there with the best of anthologies. Some funny. Some sexy. Some bloody. All disturbing.
