Dear Author,
I'd love to hear the story about this man, and why he has so many tattoos. Are they from creating memories with his lover? Does he have a lover? I'd love to hear a bit about his story, and how he ended up posing for this picture. Who's hands are hiding the rest of him from view?

(I'd love to see turtleshell bondage in this, but no pain, or a slave-master type relationship...maybe coworkers to friends to lovers or something like that?)

The Book Report: Men express desire, need, passion in many ways, not all of them immediately centered around sex.

I know! I was gobsmacked too.

Levi is a high-powered, Master of the Universe-type bond trader who is in love with a man whom he knows only as Feral. There is no biography attached to Feral. Not much to Levi. What we know is Levi sees himself as powerful, and offers full power over his body, his heart, and his spirit to the serene, unhurried, masterful Feral, submitting himself to tight rope-bondage with a hungry joy, a needy bliss.

The story feels like an urban fantasy.

My Review: More erotic than sexual, this is a tale of men whose intimacy isn't simple, whose desires aren't ordinary, and whose lovingkindness would cause most people to stare in befuddlement.

This is an extraordinarily cinematic piece, full of gorgeous visuals and tantalizing sounds. Anybody know any filmmakers? This could be someone's breakout film festival entry. It lends itself to so many levels of storytelling.

Hell, I can't do this justice. If you read this quote, which is the heart of the story, and you don't want to read the rest, it's not for you.

Poor you.

“You only know a predator has been watching you when you’re about to be eaten. You have no idea what they do unless they have made themselves obvious.”

The statement was odd enough to be mildly disturbing. “What do they do the rest of the time?”

“They wait until they’re hungry enough.” That odd smile again. “Until then, you still belong to them. You’re protected by their greed. They will not allow any other predators to scoop you up. That makes you safe, see?”

Levi raised a brow. “Until they eat you.”

There was much to like about this story. It was nicely written, moody, dark and very erotic.

The weakest part of the story for me was the characters. There was so much mystery surrounding the lives of Levi and Feral that prevented me from getting to know them and caring what happens to them.

This was a kind of strange, dark story. I'm actually not sure if I liked it or not because I'm confused. Maybe because it was too mysterious for my tastes and there were no answers to the questions I had.

The story feels almost sinister, though, with an urban fantasy flare. It's strangely appealing and quite intriguing with the rope bondage. Although the author didn't do a good job of incorporating the photo into the story (unless I missed it? Levi never ends up actually posing for this specific pic and I think it would have been interesting to see how Feral and Levi pose like that while taking the pic) but the details and descriptions of everything else was very vivid and interesting. I liked the story in a bemused kind of way.

I like to know about my broody/dark/misterious main characters more so the fact that Feral was so underdeveloped kind of ruined it for me. Like Levi, I needed the constat reassurances that everything is going to be ok, and that in fact, it's not okay.

I can see this was well written, but it's not my style. A dark urban fantasy, it has too many unanswered questions which I don't like, and the main character Levi seems to be in a state of despair or depression so that whatever Feral does to him is the only light in his world.

Feral never supplies answers about himself and Vic is OK with that and it grates me because I dislike people who hide their secrets so that it's really lies of omission. The relationship also seems to be heading to some sort of tragic ending and Vic seems OK with that too. It may not, but that is how I read it.

This was just too creepy for me.

The whole tone of this story felt very erotic to me. It was a little dark and quite mysterious. We were left wondering about Feral’s true nature and his intentions with respect to Levi, and yet, just like Levi felt safe, you could definitely detect a thread of protectiveness in Feral’s actions. I loved the originality and definitely would have loved more of these two! Fantastic story – thank you!!!

Despite no explicit paranormal elements, this story has a definite dark urban fantasy tone and feel to it. Short, but evocative. (To steal Kathleen's word.) I would love ro see multiple vignettes with these two.

This was very evocative. I loved the images and sense of feeling. Despite not having any explicit paranormal/fantasy elements, it had a very UF feel. It left me with delicious shivers. 3.5 stars

This story is beautifully written and very different from the ones I read until now. But I could not connect to the characters and their philosophy was a little too strange for my taste.

This was boring and too non-detailed I just didn't care about it. I didn't like the tone of the story at all and it just wasn't making sense. It was jumpy and the 50% I read it was just writinf that's not for me. Lots of random flashbacks and poor clarity in events. The flashbacks were just mixed in with present and IMO it was done quite poorly.

If I can't force myself to finish a story that's less than 4,000 words then...

Well I just loved this! This is the first story I've read by this author - even though I've purchased several books and they are headed right up top my TBR pile. The story had a noir and magical feel as well as erotic and romantic. Beautifully rendered.

creepy and confusing

I dont feel like I really knew the characters, the world or even if this is a 'relationship'. It really needed more wordcount for me to like it. It however had great potential if the world building was done better.

What I love best about the Love Is Always Write is the chance to read outside of my normal genre. This is s strange little tale of a love that defies explanation.
