John Trumbull is like the Forrest Gump of the American Revolution. In addition to producing so many great historical paintings during his life, he seems to pop up everywhere between 1776 and 1804. He was an aide to George Washington, he was with Jefferson and John Adams in Europe, he accompanied John Jay for the negotiation of the Jay Treaty, he had dinner with Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr a few days before their duel......the list goes on and on. I found the autobiography enjoyable and very readable.
