LOOSE-LEAF The 2006 International Building Codeaddresses the design and installation of building systems through requirements that emphasize performance. Fully compatible with all the International Codes, the 2006 edition provides up-to-date, comprehensive coverage that establishes minimum regulations for building systems using prescriptive and performance-related provisions. Content is founded on broad-based principles that make possible the use of materials and building designs. Structural as well as fire- and life-sfety provisions covering seismic, wind, accessibility, egress, occupancy, roofs, and more are included. Check out our app, DEWALT Mobile ProTM. Actually, in my trade this book is quite useful. It is NOT exactly relaxing weekend reading for those not in architecture, engineering, and construction.
It is NOT what I considered a well-organized book. Funny, that, since it is the building code adopted by so many jurisdictions across the country. The index is lacking. The table of contents is even worse. If you are looking, for example, for a minimum door width and you ONLY look at the chapter on egress systems you will MISS any requirements in Chapter 11, accessibility. Applying the code is probably best left to your design professionals, consultants, and building officials. I would NOT try to design a building out of the code if I had no previous experience.
