This one felt a bit more substantial than the first book. There were definitely more layers to more characters in this one and the story felt a bit more exciting. The new setting let the main character discover a brand new culture and make a new friend along the way.
I liked this comic. Gina is so cute ❤️ I wish there were a bit more cozy moments of connection between the characters. Only moment was when Gina and her brother talks about missing their parents. During the whole comic Mariie and Caim know each other but I don't get why he cares so much for her. I didn't feel like they had much of a connection. Don't really understand Gjørans sudden shift in mortality either but oh well.
Other than that I think it was lovely drawn. And I liked seeing the new nation and I LOVE the little duck mounts , they were so cute . Just an enjoyable lore building. I noticed the panels also fit way better on the page than they did the last comic. There was space for the book to bend properly. I'm excited to buy the new comic .

I think it is freaking awesome that Kaldheim is pioneering NORWEGIAN MANGA. She has perfectly embodied so many of the core elements and executed them well. I also love that she uses so many Norwegian names for the characters ^^
I liked the first book A LOT more because it was a more grounded story. But this is only my subjective preference, and does not mean the book is bad. If you like manga, then I am certain you will like this series too!!!
