I love Bush Tucker Man.

This is a very concise book of plants in Australia that are edible. And some that are poisonous but can be used to catch animals - the Aboriginals weren't shy about efficient fishing, and were more in tune with my dad's friend Jex 'chuck half a stick of dynamite in it, you'll get the fish'.

It also lists their medicinal uses, and where they're likely to be found.

Incidentally where they're likely to be found is not often in Victoria and never in Tasmania.

Also a lot of the plants that are edible are only edible if you prepare them very carefully by boiling the plant for at least 10 hours then grinding them to a powder then sifting them then boiling them again and then it tastes like crap but contains starch and will keep you alive. If you miss any of the steps it kills you.
