Jerome Weidman was an American playwright and novelist. He collaborated with George Abbott on the book for the musical Fiorello! with music by Jerry Bock, and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. All received the 1960 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the work.
Surprisingly, really smart and deep script, considering this musical is from the early Golden Age of the musical comedy. It follows in the steps of Rodgers & Hammerstein of building a story and THEN writing the songs, because they really do complement eachother. It also has a really fun, old-timey, score!
