From roguish rake - to honourable husband! As a respectable chaperon, Miss Emma Stockton didn't welcome the flirtations of a notorious rake. Charles Hawthorne could ruin her reputation, and for her family's sake she couldn't afford for that to happen! But there was something about him - and his touch - that made her shiver with pleasure, especially once a stolen, passionate kiss revealed a side to Emma that she hadn't known existed. Could she make Charles change his rakish ways and become a man worthy of a lady's hand in marriage?
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science with a concentration in history. My interest in England began when the United States Air Force stationed me at RAF Woodbridge, near Ipswich in East Anglia. This is also where I met my husband, who flew fighter aircraft for the United States.
My husband's military career moved the family every two to three years and I wanted a career I enjoyed and could take with me anywhere in the world. We meet while in the military. We dated for about a year before I finally said "hey, so when are you going to marry me." The rest is history for us. Our daughter was born about a year and a half after our wedding and she's been our little terror ever since (granted she is all grown up now).
Today, my husband and I live in Tucson, Arizona. We had two dogs, a cat and a cockatiel. Unfortunatly, our dog Wizard just passed away on 5th of September this year. He had cancer and when they went to operate on him they found that the cancer was enormous and had spread everywhere. We lost him on the operating table. We still have our minature pincher Rosebud, our cat Kid and our cockatiel Bubbie.
In un certo senso capisco perché questo libro ha un voto così basso, nonostante sia scritto abbastanza bene, l'ho trovato noioso. I personaggi sono piuttosto sgradevoli così come il loro comportamento.
Emma Stockton is trying to keep her brother, father and sister from completely ruining the family. Their gambling and bad behaviour is getting out of hand. Notorious rake Charles Hawthorne certainly isn't helping matters with his behaviour towards her sister. There is an attraction between Charles and Emma though. It is the last thing they both want or need.
This Regency love story was a slow burn. Containing a love triangle between herself, her sister and Charles. With both Emma and Charles denying to themselves their true feelings for one another for most of the book. The attraction and sexual tension in the story was well paced throughout. Heroine Emma has a lot on her shoulders since her mother died. She stresses a lot over her family and with good reason. She learns in the end she can't stop their bad behaviour and resigns herself to the fact she will be a governess forever more. That is until hero Charles declares his love to Emma at the end.
