Don Quixote is a great classic, but tackling it is like climbing a mountain. This is about a quarter the size of Don Quixote, with less important parts cut out. If you've wanted to read Don Quixote, but were intimidated by its size, this is a good option. Perhaps after reading this, you will want to tackle the full version, but either way, this is a good option.
