Demon starts a couple of days after where Seers left off - with Selena escaping and the twins back to safety. Kate now is trying to balance out her life as much as possible. With a few secrets out in the open, she has more help to cope with her abilities as a seer. She also manages to balance her life in school and between Aaron and Patrick. But, the target is still on Kate. With Far Darrig coming closer and mysterious illness bringing the guardians down, the stakes are much higher this time.

In this installment, the romance between Kate and Patrick blooms finally. It was nice to see them taking some time to try and be ‘normal’ and do common teenage stuff. It was also good to see that Kate made time for ‘family stuff’ as well - like watching Josie’s soccer match and Jenna’s recital. I liked Aaron a bit more in this book as he is genuinely a good guy. Lee’s character plays a more important role in this book and I thoroughly enjoyed her involvement. She is totally a crazy girl yet I cannot help but love her the most. Few more characters are introduced in this book – some completely new and some whom we have only heard of in the first installment. The plot keeps a stable pace, continuing from book one.

There’s a bit more of everything in this book – friendship, romance and adventure. As I mentioned in my review of book one, Heather Frost is quite young and she can only mature with time. You can see that in the second book already where she has managed to put enough twists to take anyone by surprise. You may be able to guess one or two of them, but I bet you will not be able to guess all of them.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC… I will be eagerly waiting for the third installment.

My Thoughts:

I was excited to receive this book via ebook from the publisher because it sounded very interesting. I haven't read the first one but I didn't think I needed to because I felt like I could figure it out for the most part.
The background information wasn't the problem; I got plenty of that in the second installment of the Seers trilogy to understand who everyone was and their job description, so to speak.
Unfortunately, the book was just plain ole boring for me. There were parts that would make me raise my eyebrows for a second but I just couldn't get my excitement up for this book the more I read it. I guess there was enough of a plot in it to make me "turn the pages" until the very end but I really didn't feel any vested interest in the characters.
I liked how Kate, our seer, was protective of her family, especially her little sisters, and seemed to want to be there for them always. But I just felt like she just didn't get it. She seemed so bland for me. Her friend, Lee, had a whole lot more personality than Kate ever could. I guess for me, the supporting characters seemed more alive and endearing, than our main protagonists.
I really liked the concept of the Guardians being immortal and protecting the humans that had a special sense, if you will, where they could see auras as well as other things. The Guardians could be a very romantic idea but I didn't feel like Patrick really pulled it off. I know he was in love with Kate and she with him, but it seemed like they were too much in love. I know that probably doesn't make any sense; but it just seemed like this HEA didn't have any kind of personality just the love they felt for each other. It was sweet but didn't help put any kind of fire into the novel.
With all that being said, Ms. Frost did do a great job of describing the imagery, especially where Patrick's love of art was concerned. I could really sense the beauty in it all and pictured it perfectly.
Try as I might, though, Demons just didn't do it for me. I am giving it 2 hearts because it was just that: okay for me. I didn't hate all the characters and I enjoyed the idea of the Guardians if not the plot itself.

Demons (Seers, #2) by Heather Frost

“Cameras. You’re very lucky to have them. The power to freeze time, capture a moment, an emotion…a person. That’s the most amazing thing to me.” Patrick, Demons.

I have to say I’m more than a little impressed by Demons, so much so that I read this book in one sitting. I was worried that I would have trouble keeping up since I haven’t yet read Seers, which is the first book in Heather Frost’s Seers series. But I was pleasantly surprised to see that Demons stood on its own quite well. Plus there was a short refresher where Kate sort of lets you know what’s been going on the past few weeks in the beginning of the book, which pretty much caught me up.

If it wasn’t obvious by my quote above I have absolutely fallen head over heels for Patrick. I love his character and how he so easily fits in with Kate’s family. I adore the way he is with her twin sisters, Jenna and Josie, and the dinner scene in the beginning of the book felt like a scene from my life when I was 16 and invited my first boyfriend to dinner.

While Patrick is my favorite, I like all the characters in this book including the supporting characters and especially the bad guys. It is so important to have a main character that is relatable and I think Frost does a really great job of not only making Kate fit the average girl, but of rounding out Lee and Toni as supporting characters.

When I picture Kate I don’t feel like she’s this perfect girl or the most gorgeous female in the school. I picture her as average, not gorgeous, but not bad looking. She has flaws, but she also has really great qualities that make you want her to succeed.

That’s another thing like I like about Frost’s writing. Her characters are realistic, they have a balance. I picture Patrick as highly attractive, but he lives well below his means in a warehouse with Toni, who is his opposite when it comes to material things, which works well. They have this adorable bromance going on with banter that makes me grin.

I love Kate’s grandfather and what happened at the end, well I can’t even bring myself to talk about it because I’ll get all sad again, which is just a testament to how much of a connection I had with this book.

But the real treat is the plot. Frost gives good plot. Demons is action packed with the heartwarming love between Kate and Patrick, the way it delves further into the Guardians, the virus that infects Patrick, and discovering what Kate really is and why the Demon Lord wants her. There were several jaw dropping moments in this book, three that I can think of off the top of my head and one happens at the very end while Patrick is alone in his room, or so he thinks, so look for that.

Overall I have to say that Frost has sucked me into this world she has created and I can’t seem to find my way back out. She weaves together an intricate tale of teenage angst and paranormal intrigue, wrapping it all up in this fantastical [yes I just made that word up] bubble that I want to live in forever. I connected to this book on a level I didn’t expect to. Maybe it’s because I also have two sisters of my own and one of them is named Jenna, or possibly because I understand what it was like to be a teenager with a lot of responsibilities, either way Demons really captured me and if paranormal, romantic teen thrillers are your thing, this book is for you.

Wish I could give it more stars...it's oh wow words cannot describe how brilliant this book is....Need Bk3 pretty please!
MY REVIEW
I was sent an ARC e-galley of this book from the lovely author herself. I was certainly looking forward to reading this book as I had enjoyed BK#1 Seer's so much. Here's a link to my review of Seers.
I wasn't sure about the cover to begin with but it's kind of grown on my with time until I am at a point where I really do like it now. My interpretation of the person on the cover is that it could be Patrick or a certain someone else whom to name would give away a juicy spoiler.
The byline on the cover says "demons are not just killers, they are also mastermind", and the "mastermind" part is certainly true in this book. The demons are very calculating, deceptive and conniving in this book. Everything they do is for a reason, for one final goal, but will they get what they want?
So it was a long, long time in terms of reading that I had read Seers, the first book in this excellent trilogy. I was quite surprised by how quickly and easily I slipped back into this book. It was straight back into the action and drama, which I loved. I couldn't wait until I could pick it up to read!
This book is a total heart strings puller, I found myself gulping back the tears at a lot of places in this book. The friendship that Kate and Lee have is as strong as ever. Lee is as wacky as ever. I don't think this is a major spoiler and I think Heather won't mind me telling you! Lee goes through a Rainbow Days phase. In that literally from head to toe in one colour!! It's so funny, the people reactions to her.
Obviously we read more about the relationship between Patrick and Kate. They go through many trials and tribulations in this book, and their love stays as strong as always.
As the blurb says there are lots of plot twists and turns. Kate has some very difficult choices to make along the way in this book. Kate has to decide whether to let what appears to be fate to take it's course, or to consider the possibility of sacrificing herself to change things for the better.
Kate's life changed forever when she found out she was "special" by being a Seer. In this book Kate find out that far from special because she is a Seer, she is in fact a "special" type of Seer, which makes her even more valuable to the Demon Lord.
We meet the Demon Lord in this book, who is not what you at first presume him to be.
So plenty of new discoveries in this book.
We also meet more guardians, more Seers, as well as a "good" demon if that's even possible!
When I finished this emotionally charged book, I was speechless, whatever I seemed to come up with as a review just didn't seem good enough to describe the book well enough. To say I loved this book is an understatement, it is right up there on my best ever books list!
I am looking forward to Bk#3 now, even more than I was looking forward to Bk#2! I can't believe that the next book will be the last....
So did I enjoy the book? I certainly did. Would I read more by Heather Frost/In this series? Definitely Yes. Would I recommend? Yes very highly recommend.
You may have heard the phrase "Never a dull moment" well that is true of this excellent book!

I really liked Seers, but Demons blew me away! The level of angst in this book is at a mind blowing +10! There are many surprises in this book. I enjoyed seeing how Kate's confidence grew as her role as a Seer. The relationship between Kate and Patrick is pure and heartfelt. I loved seeing the interaction between these two characters. I grew to love Kate's Grandparents even more. The Demons are just as bad and more creepy than they were in the first book.

Heather's writing has been upped to a higher level in this second book. The story moves quickly and there was never a dull moment. This is why I chose this series for this giveaway. I WAS stuck in this book and could not put it down. I was almost late for an appointment because I had to finish this book. Then the epilogue shook me up so much, I sat there stunned for about five minutes not moving! It has been a long time that a book's ending has shocked me this much. This is why I am giving this book a 5 star rating!

Enter now to win this action packed series at my blog here at http://whynotbecauseisaidso.blogspot.... Also come and read an interview with Author Heather Frost.

ARC provided by publisher via NetGalley.

I was not all that impressed with this book, although there were some things I really liked about it; I enjoyed that the main character was impossible to break, always bouncing back from tragedy and failure. I liked the acceptance and devotion of the supporting characters who were helping her out.

I did not like that the main character didn't seem to substantially grow or learn from her failures. She keeps putting people in danger (and some of them actually don't make it out alive) and I wanted her to get some deeper meaning out of that. I wanted her to have a better understanding of what she was asking of the world and of her friends.

I also felt like the supporting characters could have done a better job of helping her grow and learn; they were almost too accepting, especially when it was their lives on the line. I don't want the main character getting heaped with blame and guilt, but she also can't be both a good friend and free to just do whatever she wants without thinking about said friends.

The writing was disappointing, but not horrible. It pulled the plot along fairly well.

In Demons, Kate really starts to grow into herself. She begins to have a better idea of what it means to be a seer, and leaps into the role when Patrick is sidelined.

Of course, we see more of Tony, who seems to be everyone's favorite guy. Kate's best friend, Lee, is even more colorful than in Seers. (Yes, pun intended. Sorry, I couldn't help myself!)

Kate's relationship with her grandfather seems more developed, and I couldn't be happier about that! He's a great character who would do anything to protect Kate and the twins.

Glimpses into Patrick's human life, new characters, revealed secrets, a new skill Kate couldn't have imagined, and stunning twists make Demons impossible to put down. Be prepared for laughter and tears, because this book takes you on a fantastic emotional journey. It will leave you perched on the edge of your seat, anxious to learn what's still to come. Ms. Frost has outdone herself!

I am very happy to say that I loved Demons even more than Seers if possible. Believe me, that's really saying something because I liked Seers a lot. In this book, there are heart pounding surprises, page turning events, and chapters that make you thirst for more. I'm not kidding. I wish I had a time machine so I could go forward to when the next book is coming out and get my hands on it.

Even as much as I would love to talk more about the plot I had better keep my lips sealed or else every secret Demons holds will on this review in no time. Heather, thank you so much for writing this series I am seriously loving it.

This book was just as good if not better then the first. Patrick and Kate are finally together which should make life so much easier for the both of them but suddenly guardians start getting sick and then just disappearing and no one knows what happens to them. Old enemies are back and new friends are made and it all ends with a gut wrenching spectacular crazy surprise.

Wow! I still need to recover after that ending!!! Way to let us hanging, Heather!

But I should start with the beginning. And I should tell you that even though Demons is the second book in the series and I highly recommend you read Seers first (which is all full of awesome), you can still jump right into this one. Heather Frost does give us a little info and some details on the background at the beginning of the book, and you'll catch on of what happened in the previous book as the story goes on.

That being said, this second installment in the Seers trilogy was really awesome and even better that the first! You can see some improvements in the story arc, and it's more action packed and fast paced than the first. Pieces of the big puzzle start to fall into place - and wow, what a puzzle they make! So, no second book in the series syndrome here, phew!

You can hardly catch your breath throughout this story. There's always something going on and the suspense is always growing. Kate tries to maintain some sort of normalcy and balance between her human life, the people she loves and the supernatural live - but all the Seers, Guardians and Demons problems make that hard to accomplish. There's danger, secrets, and mysteries everywhere and she doesn't even know who she can trust. Not to mention that she changes a lot and she has some secrets of her own - which is painful and stressful as she feels guilty and only wants to make things right and not to have anyone hurt. But the real problem is that no one is safe anymore - not even her Guardians, who are supposed to be all immortal, badass and invincible. As she tries to make sense of the things happening to her and around her, the constant danger of the Demon Lord keeps everyone on the edge as well. At least she has the support, devotion and love of her Guardian, Patrick, who will do anything - and I do mean, anything - to protect her, and of her friends who are dragged into all the mess as well, even if she wanted them safe and as far away from the danger as possible.

I loved the short glimpses we got from Patrick's POV - I wish there were more of them. Actually, I wish there were more of him, period. The fact that he isn't the all powerful, invincible Guardian we got used to in the previous book makes for some seriously tense, heartbreaking and scary situations. Yes, he's still badass, loving and protective and doing everything in his power to save the day, but he's got his own issues now. Also, he's one of the most selfless, caring main character I've ever met and sometimes I wished he hadn't put everyone else's well being above his own and just take care of himself for once! At least the love between him and Kate seems stronger than ever and holds them together:
Kate’s presence in my life had been unexpected. Life-altering. Wonderful. Heart-rending. Something about her gave me a new sense of purpose—a second chance at happiness.

Their relationship isn't perfect, but it' s the best they can have at the moment:
Our relationship was beautiful, albeit unique. He was two hundred and thirty, and I was eighteen. He was immortal, and I wasn’t. He’d been born in the greenest spot on Earth, and I lived in a desert. But we fit together perfectly, despite our differences. True, I knew we’d run into problems—it was inevitable, considering everything. But for now, things were great. We didn’t think too far into the future, which was fine by me.

We learn so much more about the characters, about the Seers, Guardians, Demons and their world! Things that you would have never guessed and that make the story so much more unique and fascinating. There's also a new cast of characters that make everything more interesting and entertaining. I love Lee and Toni and the new Guardians, they are very supportive and their help means a lot in deadly situations, but they're also lots of fun and true best friends, despite the circumstances.

One of the things I really like about this series is that Heather Frost's writing style is smooth and natural. It has an authentic, flowing quality to it and it grabs you from the first page and compels you to read on, until you finish the book. And despite all the things you find out in this story, everything comes into place easily and at the right moment, so you never feel lost or overwhelmed. It makes everything seem so real! You don't feel like you're reading a book, but like you're actually watching someone's life from the sidelines. Someone who is very close to Kate, because you can actually feel everything she feels: her inner pain and struggles, you can share her thoughts and emotions and by the end, you just want to hug her and tell her everything is going to be ok.

And speaking of Kate, she really grows in this story; she becomes stronger and more mature and determined with every new challenge she has to deal with. She goes through a lot, but she keeps fighting, even though her current situation seems to be too dangerous and impossible to get out of. Yes, she does her share of mistakes, but at the end of the day, that only makes her more likeable and easy to relate to.
I refused to dissolve into tears, and I knew they were only seconds away if I continued to feel and think. I needed to be strong. Even if I was losing hope as rapidly as the others, I couldn’t let it show. I needed to be the positive one. The believing one. Patrick needed that. He needed me.

They are each other's rock; their love and commitment are so incredible and heart-melting! When the situation becomes something of life and death and there's only one way to go, they still have each other to count on. I really felt for them.

But... Even though the story was very well balanced, the characters likeable and kickass and the plot full of action and twists, I didn't really connect with the entire story the way I would have liked to. It may be because the series I read right before this one was still somewhere in the back of my mind (yes, I know it's wrong to make comparisons and such, but the events and the characters there were too mind blowing to forget in a few hours), or maybe I wasn't in the right mood... I don't know, but something didn't click.

Anyway, there's a lot of potential to this story and Heather Frost is so young and incredibly talented, so I'll definitely read the next book as soon as it comes out. Did I mention the killer (umm... literally) cliffhanger at the end? Yup, I need to see where that one is going to lead us.

Bottom line: Demons is a great follow up to Seers: the same compelling writing style, but more tension, action, twists and turns, kickbutt characters, secrets, mystery, romance, drama, heartbreak and a killer ending that promise a mind blowing, emotional ending! You have to give it a try, especially if you like action packed YA Paranormal Romances!:)

Wow, if you’ve read the first book and thought that was great and intense, book two takes intense to a whole other level. There were a few twists I didn’t see coming. I mean, one I was half-expecting but hoping it wouldn’t happen and the other twists caught me off guard. Some of the happenings got me so worried, I once again had to seek comfort in the blurb and reviews of book three. 😜 You can’t help but love half the characters and hate the rest. I feel a lot of emotions when reading a book, and I can get really into it, but no matter how serious the story is most of the time, this part made me laugh out loud: ‘Kate shined the light right at him, and he froze and flinched. “Wow, thanks a lot. It’s not like I was attached to my retinas or anything”...’ 😂 I could just feel and hear the sarcasm in that scene. It was another amazing read and I can’t wait to start book three and finish the trilogy.

These books are so addicting!

Man, these books are so good! I keep reading, wanting to read more and more. I mean, OF COURSE I was going to read the 3rd book in the trilogy anyway, but there is a massive cliffhanger at the end of this one. Thank goodness the book's already out so I don't have to wait in torment. It's already downloaded on my Kindle and ready for me to get to reading. :D

This is a clean book with swoony romance. There is no foul language or sex.

Man, what a ride! I have fallen so hopelessly in love with Patrick that everything that happened to him in this book had me chewing off another nail! Ahhhh! He is the sweetest guy!
The second installment in this series had my heart pumping and breaking over and over. I was literally bouncing at the edge of my chair during the last several chapters.
Demons have found a way to cast fear amongst the Guardians, something unheard of, but they have a new weapon. One that is slowly adding numbers to the fallen and it's reached Kate and her friends. Will the demons succeed? Can Kate figure out a way to stop the nightmare that us slowly taking Patrick from her? Read Demons to find out!

So much to take in!

This book picks up right where the last one left off, and it was so hard to put down. There was so much going on, so much to take in, and the ending leaves you just as excited for the next and final story in the series. Make sure you read these in order!! I loved seeing more of my favorite characters, and things come full circle when huge plot twists are revealed. I’m dying to read the final book, I just can’t wait to see how everything ends up!

I don't like the black/white divide between protagonists and antagonists. h was naive and read very young and hopeful, and H was written too much like a goody adolescent guy-he was supposed to be 200+ years-make him sound more mature.
series was meant for very young audience and doesn't have the nuances to keep adults interested.

All the feels

It hurts. So bad. So much happened that just breaks your heart in book 2!

Patrick and Sean and Henry. Kate trying to be sneaky but still not recognizing she can hold SOME weight at the negotiating table.

This book was brutal on all my emotions. Even though nothing is what it seems, I hope things turn out well in the next book. Or at least some things change.

The writing has improved and the plot much more fast paced. I feel like it didn’t fall into the 2nd book of the series trap. I’m sad about the fate of one of the main characters, but more sad that it wasn’t emotional enough to trigger tears. Something was lacking for me.

Good with a few plot twists but just annoying toward the end but I was feeling rushed and did not want to wait for the new plot twist to be over. I also do not like how it was so depressing toward the end but that is just me.

Sequel better than the original

I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley to read and provide an honest review.

STOP! If you have not read the first book in this series, you will not understand this book at all. So, turn around, go back, get the first one and READ IT! Because you will not be disappointed!

Kate is not a normal teenager; she's a seer. She can see auras and she knows what people are feeling because of this. This also means she can tell the difference between Guardians and Demons. And her boyfriend, Patrick, he's far from "normal." He's immortal, and he's her protector. In this sequel to Seers (Seers #1), Kate and Patrick are on a mission to find out why Kate is the focus of the Demon Lord. And what they find is, well, not what they might expect at all.

Let's start with the cover, I love it. It so portrays Patrick, who is really the ultimate focus of this book. And once you read this book, you totally understand why the cover HAD to be this way. I love the blue color. However, this cover could be someone else, who will remain nameless so as not to spoil it!

The characters continue to be well developed and I really connected to them, wanting to go through the story with them. Certainly, the love between Kate and Patrick grows and blossoms into a real relationship. They go through a lot together in this book and that just serves to help solidify their relationship, making it even stronger. Kate is strong, even stronger than in the first book. And she's very determined, sometimes to her own detriment. I still love Toni and he remains my favorite character by far. He's funny and to the point. Nothing gets by him. He's snarky and smart and he totally steals the show! And Lee remains the ever present loyal friend. The extraneous characters kept me on my toes for sure. I also meet a few new characters in this book: Demons, the Demon Lord, and some new Seers. And people I didn't expect to have any abilities or even be present popped up and surprised me.

The storyline of this book is really great. It takes the Demon/Guardian/Seer relationship even further than I thought possible. There are so many plot twists and turns, I was not sure where I would end up, which kept me wanting to read to find out what happens. I do have to say the first half of the book is a little slower than I would have liked. There was a definite need for the build up, I just feel things were a bit repeated. And, while I understand having to recap the prior book a bit so people can remember what happened, I think it was a bit overdone. It took me longer to read this book than the first because of these facts. However, the book did tug on my emotions and captured my heart. I found myself crying many times, which I was not expecting at all. And of course I was laughing, as well, which certainly served to balance out everything that was happening. There is a ton of depth to this book which I was not expecting. The end certainly left me with a cliff hanger. It was intense and left me wanting the third book NOW.

As with the first book, I loved Heather's writing style. She certainly does not write like an author who is newly published. Her descriptions and clean, crisp and precise. Frost writes realistic characters. And there are many jaw dropping moments that have you wondering where the plot will even lead or if it can go anywhere at all. Frost helped me connect with this book in ways I did not think possible. This series is definitely on it's way to becoming one of my all time favorites! Awesome job Ms. Frost!

4 out of 5 stars from me.

*Review*

18 year old Kate Bennett is a new seer. She became a seer after she was nearly killed in the same accident which took her parents lives. Kate is able to see auras that surround people. Auras are the colors of emotions that surround people indicating their mood, and whether or not they are human, demon, or guardian. Kate is also a rarity in that she can see more than one aura at a time.

Kate is caught between two worlds, the regular world and the supernatural one. Her abilities make her a prime target for Demons like the Demon King and Far Dearg. Kate isn’t alone however. She has two guardians in Patrick O’Connell and Antonio (Toni) as well as her own grandfather who has the same abilities as Kate.

Thankfully, I made it through the first part of this book which was slower than the molasses in January. As reviewers we know that there will be some sort of paraphrasing to let other readers know what Kate is able to do and why. There are times I really don’t much care for the normality of things like Kate in school, or watching her annoying twin sisters play soccer or recital. I want to get to the meat of the matter as soon as humanly possible. I could even care less about the color of her best friend Lee’s clothing when she decides to dress all in orange, and then blue.

I wanted to learn about the biological weapon that was created by the Demons to take down the Guardians and affects Patrick. I want to know about Kate’s new found abilities, and what she can do with them. I want to know that Toni and Patrick are going to survive no matter what because they are the good guys and Kate can’t do much without them by her side even though she continues to tempt fate by running off by herself without any sort of backup.

We know that Kate and Patrick have formed a bond with is pretty unshakeable and he would do anything for her. Naturally, this bond came after Kate kicked her old boyfriend Aaron to the curb who did nothing more than be totally supportive of her after her parents died. In the end, however, I can’t fault Kate and Patrick’s relationship. It’s sweet, and it doesn’t cross the line into forced sex scenes and unnecessary chatting.

Then, of course, something happens to Patrick and I found myself hooked like a fish that just can't seem to ignore the lure and worm floating in front of them. We then learn that Kate is a rarity and that’s why the Demon King wants her so badly. We get a glimpse of her new abilities in this book, and then the ending left me wanting the final book of this series, Guardians, like yesterday.

I will say that this book is a marked improvement from Seers the first book in the series. Kate has learned that she's something of a rarity. We get to see a glimpse into Patrick's past, and learn what really happened to his brother Sean. Yeah, totally not spoiling it for anyone! We also know that not all secondary characters will survive until the end of this trilogy. We know that because someone important falls in battle with the demons.

People I liked: Aaron had his heart broken when Kate dumped him for Patrick. Yet, he still cares for her ALOT, and comes through for her once again when she needs it. I also liked her best friend Lee and her spunky wardrobe even though it took up too much of the storyline. Now it appears that there will be more new characters that will play important roles in the conclusion of this trilogy.

To recap, Kate's a Seer that sees ribbons of color in our aura's and can tell what our emotions are, and her boyfriend Patrick is her immortal guardian. The Demon Lord would love to get his hands on Kate cause she's a rarity amongst the Seer world, and he seems to like collecting them regardless. The storyline for Demons is more focused on the guardians when they discover that these immortal beings are suddenly susceptible to a strange new virus that's killing them off. Being a Micorbiologist myself, I'm intrigued. :)

As the story progresses, Kate learns by accident that she and hegrandfather are also capable of tapping into people's memories. Well, that's cool...and totally useful! Until later she finds out that she wasn't seeing her grandma's memories, but actually living in the moment because she hitched a ride on the emotion and traveled back to the actual point in time. I really hate it when authors use time travel to clean up their messes (no matter how cool and different their way of time traveling is). They've written a story I've become invested in, put their characters in dire situations that'll surely lead to someone's death. I want that death. I want these characters to experience something real and make me feel for them. Not go through hell and back just to say, "Well, that sucked. But don't worry, I'll go back in time and make sure it all works out in our favor." STOP DOING THAT! Unless you're writing a science fiction novel that's already about time traveling, don't put it in there! It's a cop out! A way to cheat your readers! Not a way to fix the six foot hole you've dug for your characters. Okay, okay, okay. Miss Frost hasn't changed the past...yet. But the Demon Lord did have her go back to - get this - make sure the past happens the way it already has. Which is stupid, because there are two people alive that were alive in that moment of time. One works for the Demon Lord, whose emotion she went back on, the other is her boyfriend/guardian, so all she has to do is ride his emotion back again and change the past in their favor! How dumb to teach Kate how to time travel since there are few alive that know how to do it in the first place (unless you're gonna be sure to kill her or Patrick afterwards). But of course she does what the Demon Lord wants her to cause he created the viral strain killing the guardians, and promised to give her the antidote in return. Demons are totally trustworthy, right? Totally.

Alright, my rant's over. Time travel aside, I did enjoy Demons. It seemed slower to me than Seers and took a long time to actually get the story to go somewhere, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. For some reason the twins annoy me, and it's probably cause their speak seems a little mature for eleven year olds at times. I really hope this whole time-travel thing doesn't take over the next story, but I'm afraid it will, especially with the cliffhanger we're left with, and I'll probably be really disappointed with the next book. But if you're okay with time travel solving all the problems, you'll be just fine with where this series is heading. I'll continue reading these, and hope and pray all the answers won't be fixed by brushing them away with time travel.

Imagine falling in love with a boy who could never die, who never fell ill, who held the power's of regeneration so there is no chance that you will have to watch him die, that your love could be snatched away from you suddenly without a warning.

It is everyone's fear and quickly it becomes Kate Bennet's as Patrick, her Guardian and love contracts a fatal disease despite the assurance that guardians where immortal.

This book drew forth a variety of emotions for me, some good, and some bad.

So, lets get the good out of the bad out of the way first so the good can take that sour taste from things.

The first thing that bothers me, as it does in any book. Is the way the relationship is portrayed between Patrick and Kate. There is the whole age difference, that even with the "Twilight" series was a huge problem for me, but more then that it was the way the two would act around each other in this writing.

It was such an unhealthy co-dependent relationship that it caused more then a little concern for the impressionable youth that could possibly be reading this because I don't want to think of my little sister being afraid to hang out with someone, that she would have to ask her boyfriend before doing anything. I understand running it by him so he knows where she is, and inviting him, but that is a partner ship, not an ownership like it seemed Patrick and Kate have. Whats funny is that at times I can't tell who owned who.

The Second thing that bothered me was the general stereotypes, whether it came from accent's to ethnicity, it was pushed to the point that it came off aggressive and somewhat racist. I can understand the point, if someone says Hispanic there is a general image portrayed with it, the same with anyone of Asian decent or a Texan accent. It is just a fine line to walk, especially when writing.

The final thing that really bugs me more then the other two, was how selfish Kate is, she seriously never learns to listen and the end result is something tragic befalling those she loves most. All of them should learn to listen and put people's needs above their own wants sometimes.

Now. On for the good.

I loved the Time travel. There were just key details that sealed the deal for me and made me sit back and think about how excellently things were being wrapped up.

I read this book while I was at work, and wouldn't you know it, as the climatic parts started winding up I would get a customer and be forced to put the book down. It is one of those books that when the good part's occur, they really occur and stick with your thoughts all through out the day.

I love the small romantic things that occurred as well, despite the creepy age factor there were still some really sweet moments that I would love to be spoken or done for me in real life.

**POSSIBLE SPOILER DO NOT READ AND SKIP TO THE RATING AND FAVORITE QUOTES IF IT MATTERS**

The ending was my favorite part. The death of a key player seriously had my eyes welling up with tears as they fell down dead before our eyes. It was so masterfully executed that my heart ached as the character's stopped beating.

This review is long overdue. At the time of the original release date, I had a lot of work going on in classes, and I kept pushing this book back on my TBR list. It was just so big and daunting. Then it got to the point that I figured I may as well wait until the third book came along, so I didn't have to wait to read it. In a way, I'm glad that I waited so long. There's one nasty cliffhanger at the end of Demons! (It's brilliant, really. I'm just glad that I have the third book at hand!)

Demons is a rather long book, being over 400 pages long and with a small font. The attention to detail adds to the length. There are passages and details that don't contribute to the story, but rather seem to be there because the author fancied them, such as the extensive description of someone's outfit (which happens a lot) or another heartfelt talk where Patrick and Kate get to know each other better. While I appreciate attention to details that help bring a scene to life, too much and the story's pacing gets slowed. Though the story doesn't span a long timeframe, it seemed to take forever for the important developments to take place. When they do take place, however, the action is good. I especially enjoyed the fight scenes.

Kate is a lot stronger than she was in Seers. After going through what she has, she has a better understanding of her situation and what she's up against. She's also gotten past the initial grief stage over her parents' deaths. At the same time, she's still as much a headstrong teenager as ever. She makes decisions for self-satisfaction without much consideration for other people's feelings. The primary difference is that she now knows that she can use Patrick's feelings for her to coax him into going along with her plans. Not to say that it's entirely impossible to sympathize with her. Her love for those she cares about is apparent, and at least she has motivation for her actions. Patrick I love as much as always; it's just that he too has a tendency to let his feelings get the better of him at times, especially when it comes to Kate.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. The mythology behind Guardians, Demons, and Seers is all fascinating; there's so much more to learn, so much that we do learn in Demons. And for all the excessive attention to detail, the writing is beautiful. I could easily envision the story as it progressed. The plot has been carefully worked out as well. While the alternating perspectives sometimes jumps back in time a little, I can follow the chronological order of events easily.

I look forward to sharing my review of Guardians, the third and final book in the Seers trilogy, this coming Saturday as a part of the official blog tour!

In the first book, Kate has recently been in a car accident with her parents. They died, but she lived. As a result of her near-death experience, she can now see auras around people. The color of the aura tells her the emotions of that person, making her a Seer. However, it also allows her to see other things, including humans who have died and made the decision not go to heaven and become Guardians to the Seers. Or she can see people who were evil and can't go to heaven because they are stuck on earth as Demons.

By the end of the first book, Kate has met and fallen in love with her Guardian, Patrick, and manages to escape from some Demons who try to kidnap her for the Demon Lord (why the Demon Lord wants her at all is unclear until the second book). In the second book, Kate's adventure continues as the Demon Lord tries to get his hands on her, upping the stakes by infecting her Guardian with a lethal virus (even though it was previous believed that Guardians were immortal and could not be killed). With her Guardian Patrick just barely hanging on for dear life, Kate has to turn herself over to the Demon Lord in exchange for the cure.

I really enjoyed the pace and story-telling skills in both of these books. Heather does a great job. I also love how real and organic the love story between Kate and Patrick feels. I do have one huge question though, which I don't feel like Heather ever really makes clear in her stories... Why, exactly, are humans in so much danger from Demons? Okay... sure, Demons are bad people and have done (or continue to do) bad things, but how does that make them any more evil or dangerous than any other bad human? Why the need for special Guardians? I haven't really seen Demons just going around killing or bothering normal humans in these stories.

Here is my theory, but it's just a theory; Demons are humans who were really, really bad in this life and so they were denied entrance into heaven. They had to go somewhere, so instead of there being a real hell in this universe, they are instead sentenced to live an immortal life on earth with humans. However, it's not fair to the humans to have these immortal evil people running around all the time so to balance the scales a bit there are also immortal good humans, or Guardians, running around keeping things safer for the humans. Right?... Maybe?

Either way, it has been a fun read, and I am excited to start the last book in the series while everything is still fresh in my mind. Maybe one of these days I will have to send Heather my questions on Facebook and see what she says. Maybe I am right!

When last we met Kate, she was dealing with discovering that she was different from other people. Very different. Kate is in fact a Seer, a person able to see auras. She can use this ability to help the Guardians, a group of immortals who chose to help those still on Earth rather than go to Heaven, to find the Demons that are causing problems for people. After falling in love with her Guardian Patrick, Kate is now more ready to face the school year. As one would expect though, Kate's life is still not safe. The evil Demon Lord is after her, and she needs to find out why. When the acts of the Demon Lord puts everything she holds dear in danger, Kate is faced with some extremely difficult decisions. Will she have to sacrifice herself to save those she loves?

I really enjoyed the first book, so I was looking forward to reading this one. I was not let down. In fact, I think this book exceeded my expectations. It managed to be tense, romantic, scary, and hopeful all at once. The story took some twists that I did not see coming, and the ending was such a cliffhanger! I'm trying to avoid any spoilers in this review, because there are a lot of things that need to be read. That makes it more difficult to write this though. I have so many things to say about particular things that happened. There is one particular theme that I felt was touched on so amazingly, but I won't say more in the interest of not ruining the book for anyone. Just know that there are a lot of great things in there.

It's always fun to rejoin characters you enjoyed before, and this book is no exception to that. Kate is still a worthy heroine. She's not one to just sit back and let things happen to her. Kate wants to take charge, and she is willing to do whatever it takes. In this book in particular, Kate gets to be the one who makes the decisions to try and save the day. I love when a female gets to be the rescuer instead of the rescuee. The rest of the characters are fun as well. There's teenage drama and supernatural drama, so there's plenty of fun for everyone. While I really enjoyed the first book, this book was even better. People definitely need to check this one out. It gets really intense towards the end, so much so that my heart was racing for several chapters. If you liked the first book, this one will be even better. If you didn't read the first book, do it and then grab this one. It is totally worth it.

Source: Received from publicist. Many thanks goes to Cedar Fort Inc for sending me a copy of this book for review. I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

My rating: 3/5

Kate is coming to terms with her new powers as a seer. She's acclimating well, but she knows that the Demon Lord is still after her. She and Patrick are in love, and she'll do anything to protect him, as he would do the same for her. She just wants everything to regain a semblance of normalcy, but that isn't about to happen anytime soon.
I enjoyed reading Seers and was excited for Demons. However, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. It felt more like a transitional read, and while there was stuff going on, and things looked dire for certain characters, it felt like it was keeping pace rather than bringing the fight to Kate. That isn't bad though, we get to see more of the relationships that Kate has with her friends and her family, as well as the relationship with her guardian, Patrick. The story does move, and it maintains a relatively fast pace, but we don't see or learn much about the demons until closer to the end. I clued into what the major plot twists were going to be, and am wondering how Frost is going to resolve things with the complications that are now evident with the new characters and situations.
Kate is a strong character. She is resilient and you can feel the love that she has for her family and for Patrick. She has a stubborn streak as well, and even though she has a demon lord after her, she's not one to hide in the corner and let others take care of her. She wants to be part of the team, and she wants to be able to protect herself and her family.
Patrick is equally as strong, and he will do anything and everything in his power to protect Kate and her family. He loves her, and their love is evident throughout the book. He has his own share of troubles though as he has to come to terms with the troubling fact that guardians may not be as immortal as they once thought.
All in all, this transitional read is captivating, and will hold the reader's interest as they find out how Kate and Patrick handle the challenges thrown their way. Kate learns more about her abilities, and what she is willing to do for the ones she loves. Demons is a relatively fast paced read and provides the perfect build up for Guardians. I'm looking forward to finding out what Frost has in store next for her characters.

Demons

By Heather Frost

This is the second book from the Seers Trilogy, something I read thanks to the author who was kind enough to send it to us!

What can I say? I enjoyed a lot the first book, ‘Seers’, and I did not become disappointed with the second novel either! It’s true that the details were too much sometimes, making me believe that maybe I did not needed to read the first novel, but somehow everything was actually good!

The characters developed even more, making their journey even more beautiful, making me see their beauty by letting me being by their side! Now everything is even more beautiful, especially because Kate finally got Patrick!

You heard me! Kate becomes a couple with Patrick and we have a lot of encounters with these two kissing and opening to each other!

I found it really beautiful when they admitted their feelings and how Tony kept reacting in front of them! It was something sweet and interesting, something that I have appreciated and I become really found of the remarks that Tony would make by seeing them.

Thrilled by this new character that popped into town, impressed by their evolving relationship and really heart-broken for the new outfit that Lee chose to wear, I almost got a heart attack when I read what was next!

What would you do if your boyfriend tells you that you cannot spend the eternity with him because Heaven is too far from him, but your future home? How would you feel if you can reach some place, a place that you boyfriend cannot? How would you react if your powers will be too much to handle? But most important: will you die to save the ones you love?

Will you sacrifice everything to save your dying boyfriend?

Well, stay with us on ‘Demons’ and you will find out! Not only that the plot is having a twisted mind, not only that everything seems to be played sarcastically in your face, not only that everything burns right before your eyes, but now you actually have to endure everything while knowing that once he is gone, he is gone for good!

Will Kate succeed in this new journey? Will the Dark Lord stop his pressure on her? Will Darkness stop revolving around Kate for a while? What do you think?

Amazing book! I recommend it and I offer it:
