One moment, Jordan is slaving over her work to create a solution for fertility issues plaguing women, the next – she finds herself sucked in through a portal – taking her about 2 thousand years into the future. A future where a disease has wiped would woman, leaving only men to walk the earth. To save the human race, Artisans have been painting the portraits of women from the past and bringing them to the present. Under contract, of course, and with the women’s permission. Problem is, Jordan gave so such permission.
Conlan is the artisan who painted her, but his motives are not to have a bride for himself. His father, the leader of their community, needs a wife. And Conlan needs a scientist. Jordan is a woman who may possess the ability to save them from having to paint brides but if anyone should figure out who she is, she will be in danger. See, it’s her work that created the plague.
Conlan very quickly finds himself falling in love with Jordan and she with him despite the hopelessness of their relationship.
I lost interest in this book very very quickly and for a few reasons. First off? It’s kidnapping. It’s a crime and within days, Jordan is falling madly in love with her abductor? Sure. Secondly, Jordan is a scientist and it’s for that profession that she’s even in this predicament yet quickly all that intelligence and brains get tossed out the window and she’s just a ‘bride’ It was such a disappointment for a female lead to be reduced to just a silly woman without any self-preservation sense. Lastly, there’s no plot. Other then keeping Jordan secret from his father and then later, trying to win her at an auction. There’s nothing going on! Such a disappointment.
