Professional. Powerful. Thoroughly male...That was psychologist Claire Lamont's first thought when she met her bodyguard, the agent charged with keeping her from a rogue operative's bullet. And as much as she feared death, she soon faced an even scarier walking away from a man she couldn't tear her eyes off of.Bodyguard Brent Young was considered one of the best, and he vowed to use every ounce of his FBI training to help Claire. His enticing ward prodded him, unleashing his secret desires. The longer he kept her secluded at a remote cabin, the more sizzling the tension grew. Before long, the chances of remaining professional became a thing of the past...as did their chances of staying alive.
A shrink-loathing (with just cause) FBI agent finds himself a rather willing bodyguard to the resident Bureau psychologist.
A "first" author for me, but someone to watch out for in the future.
Wonderful characters, I loved both Brent and Claire and rooted for them from the get go, great characterization, good pacing, nice and tight plot, and wonderfully woven suspense with a few false clues and a red herring as big as a house. Just the fact I didn’t guess the villain’s true identity until the author wanted me to, is motivation enough to put Ms. Perrin on my watch list.
Good book. Lots of suspense and intrigue. I love the plot twist at the end, too. Just when you think it's all over and Dr. Claire Lamont is finally safe, an unexpected threat looms large on the horizon.
I wanted to continue this bodyguard of the month series and this is book 2. It was good and didn't see who did it coming. I was not happy that once again a side character that did nothing wrong was killed off. Did not need Mickey dying already lost a body part ugh.
Brent is sent to guard Claire who is in danger after another FBI Agent she had sent for a 72 hr psych hold escapes. I loved the first meet for sure well on the case cause they have met before. She is the FBIs psychologist.
He gets her out of there and goes to a hide out that's Brent's beat friend's that no one is going find because of how it listed. Sadly said friend was murdered 2 weeks prior and no headway has been made on that either.
They work the case trying to figure out what the agent that escaped is planning and people are being killed. Claire doesn't think it's the one that's suspected though. Things aren't adding up from what she knows by working with him in her office.
I honestly didn't care about the relationship part of this story and skipped over the sex part. That didn't appeal to me. When the person was revealed it surprised me because we only saw them 2 times. Though the second time was when I got suspicious they were in on something but before that nope.
Once I finish the series this one will be leaving because I have no interest of reading again. I felt so bad for Brent because of his best friend's death. The man was a mentor and father figure to him. Glad got closure in his death.
Good book. While there was physical suspense, this one seemed mostly mental/psychological. Claire was a psychologist that worked for the FBI, trying to help agents with various traumas. She frequently felt that she was hitting her head against a stone wall, as they weren't very cooperative. Brent was one of the worst. He had had a bad experience with a psychologist, and wrote off the whole profession. When he was assigned to protect Claire, their attraction was immediate. They had to find a way to deal with their feelings as well as try to find the rogue agent who was out to kill them. Great suspense with a bit of a twist at the end.
I liked this quite a bit. The hero was a bit of a jerk (which is all too common in romance), but the heroine was likable. The plot was immediately guessable, but there was enough twists to keep me from being positive in my guess.
My one major issue is why a seasoned FBI agent that everyone says is a great agent would be immediately willing to bed the woman he's been ordered to protect, when everyone knows this is usually discouraged as complicating the security job. However, I can chalk this up to the issues going on in his life at the time, and give the book the benefit of the doubt.
