He's vowed to never fall in love. She's the key to his future and she needs a favor--a fake engagement. Could this lead to something real? Never.
My father thinks I need a life outside of owning the Vancouver Tigers professional football team. He has an offer for the team if I can't marry in time. Steve McCormick may be my only hope. I'm sure I can talk him into if he wants to keep his job with the Tigers. But how can I protect my heart?
Eliza’s whole life has been aimed at one day taking ownership of her father’s Canadian football team, the Vancouver Tigers. She is driven and focused on that goal. Her father, however, thinks she needs to concentrate on a personal life. Balancing work and life is indeed important. But giving your daughter a time limit of 6 months to find that special someone is ridiculous. That sort of union may quickly disintegrate because it has had no time to develop into love and a strong foundation. But that is the ultimatum he delivers: get engaged in 6 months or he will sell the team someone has already made an offer on. (Nice guy to want his daughter’s wedded life to begin with a threat.)
The team’s doctor, Steve McCormick, is a player who wants no serious relationship in his life. He’s a one-and-done kind of guy. He had a one-night-stand with Eliza before he knew she was the team owner’s daughter. Now she needs him to pretend to be her fiancé. Will she coerce him into agreeing? And will they later be able to walk away without someone getting a broken heart?
Instant spice from the beginning. I laughed, cried, & got angry. Overall a great story. I read the bonus material as well which was good but I feel as though the story could have continued a bit more.

Steve McCormick is a man with passions—he is passionate about football, and he is passionate about his profession as an orthopedic surgeon. So, as the team doctor for the Vancouver Tigers during their season, he has the best of jobs. But, he is about to have his world rocked when he meets, Elizabeth—Eliza—Rourke. The petite, beauty with caramel-colored eyes and long chestnut hair who works in the team’s marketing department. But rather than providing him a workplace love connection, her identity is a big penalty call—she’s the boss’ daughter.
So, the beautiful, intelligent, engaging Eliza is the boss’ daughter, and she is a fellow employee. But, he hopes that a covert workplace romance is still possible. But when her dad’s current health challenges necessitate that Eliza step into her dad’s position, at least temporarily, Eliza has an opportunity to truly follow her childhood dreams. In dad’s unspecified health challenge, Eliza will not simply work for the Vancouver Tigers, she will serve as GM in her dad’s absence. Now, she is definitely off limits to the handsome, renowned orthopedic surgeon who splits his work year responsibilities between the Vancouver Tigers and Mercy Hospital.
But workplace contact is not the only avenue for romance for Steve and the beautiful Eliza. Since both potential lovers are natives of Vancouver, their lives are full of connections—friends, favorite local hangouts, and family who want their adult children to adult—settle down, marry and produce grandchildren. And, when Eliza’s dad places conditions—marriage or at least a long-term relationship—on her an expectation in order for her to officially named as the team’s general manager, the two Vancouver natives form a secret agreement to a public presence. The only complication to the plan is when fantasy love begins to be real and scary.
Once more, Grace Maxwell invites her readers to join her in the city of Vancouver sharing the challenges, loves and friendships of a group of bright, diverse friends and family in their pursuit of happily-ever-after. And, happily for the reader, there is another tale of love in the medical community of Vancouver to come!

An enjoyable read with characters with professional careers that bring them together. A one-nightstand that turns into the potential for more.
Eliza’s been focused on preparing herself to take over the CFL team her father owns, Vancouver Tigers, since she was 7 years old. Her farther pulls the rug out from under her by telling her he’s thinking of selling the team because he wants her to focus on a personal life and not to work so many hours. He gives her an ultimatum that requires her to be seriously dating someone and engaged within less than 6 months.
Steve is a playboy who doesn’t want any repeat encounters with the ladies he entertains and when he finds out the gorgeous woman who left while he was sleeping is the team owner’s daughter he has a mixed reaction. He’s upset that he may have risked his position as Chief Medical Officer for the team, and he wants to see more of her which surprises and concerns him.
These two fit well together and I loved his group of close friends. The angst this couple face is mostly the result of what others around them do - family drama with both of their parents, and team problems.
The storyline is entertaining and engaging as Eliza tries to figure out the source of all the issues the team is suddenly facing, shocking surprises from her father and trying to avoid catching feelings for Steve who she of fake dating/real dating.

After a thrilling but anonymous one-night stand, the beautiful (almost) owner of a Canadian football team discovers her lover is the team’s doctor, a confirmed bachelor who rarely sticks around for a two-night stand. No problem, right? Wrong. Because in order to inherit the team from her father she must be in a committed relationship. Can you guess where this is going? Probably you can, but the couple’s charm and the really good writing helps this latest addition to the “Doctor of..” series overcome any qualms about the plot’s originality.
Like the others in the series, the characters are well-developed and strong. Very strong. It’s definitely worth reading. Frankly, I think you’ll love it.

Eliza is prepping for taking over the Canadian Football League Vancouver Tigers, but her father throws a mandate in - get into a serious relationship for he sells the team in six months. She had just had a one night with someone and finds out later that he is the team doctor and only does one nighters. Will their attitudes change? There are also many weird things going on around the team - what is causing the issues? The characters were well developed. The storyline is easy to get into, has a lot of entertaining situations, friendly sass, fake to real relationship, surprises, twists, revelations, and much more. Loved their chemistry and how they work things out. Great ending.

Eliza and Steve have a one night stand before he finds out she’s the boss’s daughter. But Steve is a one and done type of guy, until he can’t get Eliza out of his thoughts. When Eliza is forced to have a relationship in order to gain a long promised inheritance, she approaches Steve to assist her.
But Eliza wants a friends only relationship, while Steve keeps hoping for the with benefits part.
The more time Elsa and Steve spend together, the more the lines get blurred.
There is a lot of sex, not complaining, just advising. But there is also a well developed friendship and then a happy ending. And there is a bonus epilogue to request…it’s cute.
OK, I’m really trying —-I see all these 5 star reviews!?!?! I’m 50% in and I just can’t stand Eliza… She has sex with Steve five minutes after she meets him… after that she shoots him down over and over again even though they are hanging out, having a few dinner dates, talking about business.. she asks him to be fake engaged, so her father will hand over his business to her… they are hanging out and flirting constantly, and he’s doing her this giant favor.. they have to date and be seen together for at least six months -she tells him he has to be celibate the entire time since sex is off the table…. While he is at work, she moves into his apartment without him knowing… he comes home and he is a little freaked out.. she’s wondering why he is so distant🙄🙄🙄🙄 DNF!!!!!
Eliza and Steve came together in a bang then went their own way, but they still thought about each other. I enjoyed seeing these two enter their unique relationship and to see that develop and evolve. They had good support from their friends, which they needed to navigate the interference of their families, don't get me start on her father! I believed in their connection and chemistry and enjoyed seeing how things worked out for them. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.
When Eliza & Steve meet at the teams preseason party they think it’s just a one night fling.
Eliza is the owners daughter and looking to take over for her dad when he retires, Steve is the teams Dr and chief medical officer. When Eliza’s dad gives her an ultimatum to settle down and have a life outside of work before he’ll let her take over she turns to Steve.
Will what starts out as a relationship of convenience be able to turn into true love?

Absolute loved Eliza and Kesler. Eliza was a strong female who knew what she wanted and went after it. After her dad puts conditions on her to get the football team she has worked her whole life for, she approaches Kesler, the team doctor and playboy, to help her by faking a relationship.
It was so sweet watching as these two became closer, considering they were both closed off to relationships.
The storyline was great and played out in a way that was not rushed or drawn out.
I would definitely recommend reading Kesler and Eliza’s story.
Steve and Eliza meet at a party. She doesn't admit to being the daughter of the manager of the football team he works for. Steve is an orthopedic doctor who works for the football team for 6 months and private practice the other 6 months. Eliza want to be the manager of the football team. However her dad wants er to have a steady boyfriend and other friends He thinks she works too hard. Steve agrees to be such a boyfriend. Now will dad be happy? Hot book with great storyline.
I'm absolutely in love with this series. It's cute. It's fun. It has me all giggly and all good feelings!! I just love the fact that NONE of the women are doormats. There are genuine issues to be worked out, and the men aren't douches! Although Eliza's dad in this pissed me off! He was really crappy to her and had her trying to force a relationship just because he messed up with his first marriage. Eliza is so amazing, and I'm glad she stood up for him. Her and Steve are perfect for each other, and I'm glad they stayed together. I knew the twist from the start, but I still enjoyed the book.
Steve and Eliza start out as a one night stand, but evolve from there. Both are wealthy in their own right and have no need for the other. But Eliza's father's unrealistic and archaic expectations cause her to enter into a fake relationship with Steve in order to gain control of the Vancouver Tigers football team. I love it because Steve falls first. It takes stubborn Eliza a little more time. You really get frustrated with Eliza's dad. He was ridiculous. Enjoyable read and medium spice! 4 stars!
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Eliza and Steve. He dad owns the football team and she wants to run it in Steve is an orthopedic doctor and also the team doctor. The chemistry between the two of them is of the charts. But when he saw gives her a stipulation about taking over the team, Steve offers to help. Love the push and pull dynamic.

I thought this book was fairly entertaining. Eliza and Steve have a one night stand, but it turns out that she is his boss! When family expectations run high, Eliza asks Steve to help her out with a fake relationship. I found this story fun and really liked their friends.

This broke my heart a few times. I’ve been waiting for Steve’s story since book one and this wait was worth it. I’m totally loving this series. Steve and Eliza are perfect for each other and he said it perfectly, he found his yin to his yang. 🖤🔥🩺🔥🖤
Good read that follows the relationship between Eliza, daughter of the teams owner, and Steve, the team’s chief medical officer. Start with a one night stand after meeting at a team party. However when Eliza’s father puts conditions on her taking over the CFL team, she turns to Steve for help. Some ups and downs. Throw in great friends who help you through the rough times and you have a good book.
I enjoyed this story about the fake romance of a sports team doctor and the team owner's daughter, both from dysfunctional families. It's an interesting and enjoyable read with likable characters, humor, and spice. Some familiar faces pop up from previous books too. I'm looking forward to the next Men of Mercy book.
