"Vio una frase subrayada con lápiz ya desvaído: El mundo es un lugar hermoso, un lugar por el que merece la pena luchar...
Aquella frase había significado algo para él veinte años atrás, cuando era el novato de la brigada de Homicidios, cuando el mundo era realmente un lugar hermoso por el que merecía la pena luchar; pero las cosas habían cambiado desde los tiempos de Hemingway. Era evidente que Ernest jamás había imaginado que las cosas se pondrían tan feas"
". Doe era muy coherente a su manera retorcida, pero Somerset no quería que fuese coherente. Quería que Doe fuera un loco de atar. Sin embargo, no lo era. Se trataba de un hombre inteligente y algunas de sus quejas estaban muy justificadas"
No suelo ser muy adepto a las novelizaciones. Considero, o tengo cierto preconcepto, de que la mayoria son un subproducto un poco devaluado. Pero en este caso, por tratarse de mi película favorita sobre asesinos seriales(de ficción), decidí darle una oportunidad.
Realmente me resulto una grata sorpresa .porque es fiel a la película de David Fincher de 1995, y a su vez aporta algo nuevo e interesante. Esta novelización,es un poco mas introspectiva, pone un poco mas el foco en el interior de cada uno de los investigadores y en la relación entre ellos.
Así como también, pone un interesante énfasis, en trazar un paralelismo en la forma en que el asesino"John Doe" y el detective "Somerset" ven al mundo y las personas que lo ocupan. A pesar de que actúen de maneras diferentes al respecto...Uno hastiado queriendo retirarse y huir, y el otro llevando a cabo un acto completamente retorcido queriendo dar un mensaje.
Esta obra en algunos aspectos también es un poco mas cruda, probablemente porque la película debe haber sufrido de alguna censura.
Estoy convencido de que cualquiera que aprecie dicha película, también apreciara este libro. Y si algún rezagado no la vio, también puede disfrutar de esta obra literaria. Personalmente creo que ambas son el complemento perfecto.

Un libro de lectura ágil y muy fluída. Las páginas vuelan. No es un prodigio de literatura, pero hay algo que hace que no puedas parar de leer. Y eso también hay que valorarlo.
En cada palabra he tenido siempre presente la película. Más que leer, he visualizado.
Una lectura muy agradable (a pesar de lo escabroso del tema).

Creo que es la primera vez que primero veo la película y luego leo el libro y se me ha hecho un poco extraño. La verdad es que vi la película hace muchos años y recuerdo que me impresionó bastante. Según se va leyendo uno va poniendo a los detectives el rostro de Morgan Freeman y Brad Pitt. Como ya han pasado años y la memoria de uno ya no es la misma que cuando era más joven, vas disfrutando con detalles que no te acordabas. Tampoco me acordaba del final hasta que va llegando, entonces se te enciende la bombilla y recuerdas perfectamente el terrible final que nos depara este asesino en serie, con lo cual pierde parte de su gracia, por decirlo de alguna manera. Se me ha hecho corta, lo he devorado en 3 días. Si no hubiera visto antes la película me hubiera parecido formidable. Habiéndola visto, también.

اولین باری که فیلم "هفت" را در تلویزیون ملی دیدم(سال 83)، موضوع و سبک تصویری آن شوکه ام کرد. کتابش را هم خیلی زود پیدا کردم و خواندم و مسلما نکاتی را که به لطف سانسور حذف شده بود، متوجه شدم.
کتاب هم به گیرایی فیلم بود و داستان به خوبی ساخته و پرداخته شده بود و بعضی از ابهامات فیلم را که بخاطر محدودیت های زمانی بر آن تحمیل شده، باز کرده و توضیح می دهد.
.البته چند وقتی ست فهمیده ام که برخلاف تصورم، کتاب بر اساس فیلم دیوید فنیچر نوشته شده است(و نه بالعکس)

Seven es mi primera novela de este género y me agrado. La escogí para aproximarme al género policiaco-thriller, porque había visto la película hace muchos años y me encantó. Podía leer el libro ahora porque no recordaba la historia en detalle y me iba permitir disfrutar el libro. Creo que la historia se puede disfrutar bastante, tiene buen ritmo y su extensión es la adecuada, no agobia con detalles (que sería bastante morboso para este género) y se pasa un buen rato. No sabía que primero había sido la película y luego el libro, y creo que un libro que te hace desear ver la película (otra vez) tiene tanto valor como una película que te impulsa a leer el libro en la que está basada. Si bien, no es una obra de las que se van a hacer análisis exhaustivos, se puede disfrutar y me impulsó a buscar y considerar leer otros títulos de novela policiaca o de thriller

Poca gente habrá que no conozca la película en la que está basada este libro, si en este caso la película fue primero y es una gran película con tres grandes actores como protagonistas, Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt y Kevin Spacey.
La trama trata sobre la investigación de unos crimenes bestiales basados en los siete pecados capitales. El crimen de la "Pereza" me ha parecido el más impresionante de todos, tanto por su descripción como por los detalles de la preparación de éste que los policias averiguan, es un asesino muy inteligente, frío, calculador y planificador.
Dicho os voy a hablar un poco de dos de los protagonistas del libro, los policías a los cuales se les asigna esta investigación tan complicada, Somerset y Mills.
Somerset es un policía veterano que se va a retirar en una semana, para irse a vivir a un pueblecito, y allí pescar, arreglar una casa que se ha comprado y trabajar en su huerto, está hastiado de ser policía y de la gran ciudad con tanta violencia sin sentido.
Mills es la cara opuesta de la moneda, es un policía que ha venido de un pueblecito a la gran ciudad para demostrar su valia, es un policía impetuoso que quiere aprender de Somerset todo lo que sabe antes de que este se retire.
Los personajes están perfectamente definidos, sobre todo Mills, está perfilado hasta el minimo detalle, ha habido situaciones en las que le he cogido manía por su actitud.
La narrativa es muy buena, y la trama empieza con un ritmo pausado y según vas avanzando va cogiendo ritmo y poniéndose cada vez mas interesante.
El final del libro es espeluznante y angustiante, me ha vuelto a sorprender a pesar de que sabía que iba a pasar. Un libro totalmente recomendable que está a la altura de la película.

I have recently gone on a hunt for film novelizations/tie-ins, as there’s so many that I did not realise existed before now. I found this, and read it, after rewatching the film, that I’d been putting off for years. I also started reading it during my lunch at work - you can imagine what a mistake that was!
There are some very slight differences between this, and the film, which has stuck very closely to this. I was surprised by how similar they are. There’s hardly any additional scenes, just some additional background to the characters, and some information about Mills’ previous partner, which was cut from the film.
Some of the differences are:
- The “cliff notes” scene, where Mills is trying to read different books that Somerset recommended about the sins, is set in the car in the film, and at home in the book.
- Homeless person staying in John Doe’s apartment changes from male to female.
- Slightly more description as to what happened to the “Lust” victim.
We also find out that Somerset’s wives were called Michelle and Ella. One thing did annoy me within the first two pages, and that was the repeat of the author telling the reader that Somerset had been working for twenty three years. This was repeated THREE unnecessary times and then changed to twenty five years by page 147.
Reading this, I was hoping for a little more insight into the ending and also something that I felt was never properly wrapped up in the film. Did Victor (Sloth victim) survive? I found that because I knew the ending from the film, that the book felt like there were not enough pages for it to finish, and wrap everything up. And I feel the same as I do watching the film (when I don’t let my imagination run wild) - a little unsatisfied if I’m honest. I wanted it to continue - I wanted a trial. I wanted to know what happened to Mills and Somerset at the end. But it’s left hanging, in both the book and film.
I would recommend this if you’re a fan of the film, however, for people expecting additional scenes or a more expanded finale, I would avoid. A nice little addition if you can get it cheap enough.

I am speechless. I only read this book because it was my dad’s favourite book and he wanted me to read it but it’s very old and not many people have heard of it so I had low expectations.. but no this book surprised me. It has to be by far my favourite mystery that I have EVER read. It reminds me so much of criminal minds which is one of my favourite shows. DEFINITELY recommend this book if you like reading about murder mystery’s or serial killers as this plot was incredible. Omw to go watch the movie adaptation!

Hengästyttävä lukukokemus. Kirja on paljon kyynisempi kuin muistan elokuvan olleen, mutta se on todella vaikea laskea käsistä. Kirjassa juoni ja tapahtumat etenevät kuin höyryjuna. Vaikka suuri ja monivaiheinen rikosvyyhti ja hahmojen taustoitukset on sijoitettu vain n. 200 sivuun, niin mitta tuntuu juuri kouluttavan sopivalta.
Ainoa miinus on, että käytetty kieli ei enää niin fresh.

Șapte pacate este cartea pe care am descoperit-o in biblioteca, amestecată printre cele vechi citite. Nu stiu ce cauta acolo, pt ca nu o citisem. M-am așezat comod si am zis sa vad despre ce e vb. Am crezut inițial că este o poveste de dragoste, coperta editurii românești nu are nicio treaba cu originalul, asa ca nu mica mi-a fost mirarea când am văzut că este de fapt o carte polițistă.
M-a prins imediat. Este scrisa într-un mod super lejer, fără cuvinte pompoase si descrieri lungi, cu un pic de acțiune si suspans, care fac ca povestea să fie destul de interesanta.
Autorul crează un criminal in serie, ce ucide persoane in functie de cele 7 pacate supreme. Cele sapte terase ale Purgatoriului de Dante sta la baza acestor crime (lăcomia, invidia, ura, mânia, avariția, mândria si desfranarea), acestea fiind aduse în prim plan cu fiecare caz nou. Modul in care cei doi detectivi încearcă să rezolve cazul este usor previzibil, însă faptul că nu stii ce sta la baza minții criminalului face ca totul sa fie mereu o necunoscută.
Nu mi-a placut finalul, căci l-am intuit, dar asta nu e vina autorului, ci doar a sutelor de cărți din acelasi gen citite în ultima vreme. Încep să gândesc ca un criminal ;))))).
Una peste alta, este o carte drăguță. Mi-ar plăcea să o cumpăr într-o variantă noua, reeditată.
3 stele din 5, cred ca este un scor meritat. As fi dat si mai mult daca povestea ar fi avut un alt final si daca n ar fi fost atât de scurtă. 😄

Quizas mi desastrosa experiencia con este libro sea en parte mi culpa, leí a Kenzaburo Oe, William Faulkner y después me metí en esto. Este es un libro demasiado básico para mi gusto y aunque me digan que la novela policiaca es así, no puedo creer que sea tan plana. Había pensado en ponerle de dos a tres estrellas debido al argumento, porque la historia del asesino en serie basado en los siete pecados capitales me pareció ingeniosa. Pero luego leí que esto era la novelización del guión de la película y allí si que ya no encontré qué más rescatar. Lo que terminó de matarme fueron los modismos españoles del traductor como "capullo", digo yo, ¿Que no piensan que gente de todo el mundo hispanoparlante leerá el libro?

Seven is a crisp, fast paced story that condenses the film into a short story. It has a very novel concept. The antagonist sent shivers down my spine and the protagonists are real, flawed, believable men. It's a very real story, effectively worded without beating around the Bush. A very entertaining read.

27. Un misterio de asesinato
La película me encantó desde la primera vez que la vi, así que imaginen mi sorpresa cuando me encontré el libro mientras paseaba por la librería de viejo. Ni siquiera sabía que existía la novelización pero TENÍA que llevármelo.
Básicamente es la misma historia de la película, con el detalle que solo un libro le puede dar. Se mencionan cosas que no aparecen en la película, que aunque no son importantísimas complementan la historia. Se dan muchos más detalles con el fin de ser descriptivos y la verdad es que me gustó mucho esta versión de la historia.
Estoy consciente de que este no es el mejor thriller en el mundo, pero desde siempre me ha parecido que la trama en bastante buena y que tiene el balance perfecto entre misterio y crimen.
Realmente estoy satisfecha con la lectura y me da muchísimo gusto haberme tropezado con este libro mientras buscaba otro. Lamento haberme tardado tanto en terminarlo porque es un libro bastante corto y muy entretenido, pero que se le va a hacer, uno tiene responsabilidades que atender.
Creo que es un tanto difícil de conseguir (a pesar de mi buena suerte) pero si les llama la atención, lo recomiendo, aunque sea por el simple placer de leer un thriller.

First Seven seemed like a really cheaply written bullshit. First I felt like the book would be boring, like I would had to force myself to keep reading it. But Seven eventually got me, it caught me (And even though it took a while, it didn't matter since the book was kinda short.) and I had to finish it. I had to because it started to feel like it was ending, but I needed so many things to happen and there were so few pages left. Seven definitely had one of those endings that are horrible and amazing at the same time

This book followed the movie title Seven. It is very disturbing - a story about a series of murders, each representing one of the seven deadly sins.
I really just remember the grisly parts - descriptions of when the murder victims were discovered. Haunting, but stays with me.
Wouldn't read this one again.

Novelización de una de mis películas favoritas que sigue la misma estructura de la obra original y que prácticamente resulta tan estremecedora, intrigante y sorprendente que la película dirigida por David Fincher.
Tanto en la película, como en el libro John Doe sigue siendo tan fascinante, enigmático y aterrador, uno de mis psicópatas favoritos.
Tanto en la película, como en el libro John Doe sigue siendo tan fascinante, enigmático y aterrador, uno de mis psicópatas favoritos.

Näin Pittin ja Freemanin tähdittämän Seitsemän aikoinaan tuoreeltaan elokuvana, ja tarina teki minuun lähtemättömän vaikutuksen. Pokkariversio kirjasta osui käsiini vahingossa kirjastoreissulla. Tarina on niin nerokas, niin massiivinen, että yllätyin kirjan vähäisestä sivumäärästä. Seitsemän on nopealukuinen trilleri, joka pitää otteessaan. Danten seitsemän kuolemansynnin ympärille punottu juoni kuljettaa lukijaa intensiivisesti kohti vääjäämätöntä loppua. Vaikka muistin elokuvan lopun, olin yhtä kaikki järkyttynyt päästyäni kirjan viimeiselle sivulle. Kirja tihkuu aggressiota, rujoa kielenkäyttöä ja ihmismielen synkimpiä puolia. Tämän jälkeen tekee mieli lukea jotain aivan muuta, jotta tarinan jättämät kuvat päässä alkavat haalistua. Suosittelen, mutta kirja ei todellakaan ole herkimmille.

Ist tatsächlich mal der Film besser als das Buch?
ich habe den Film zwar noch nicht gesehen, aber schlechter als das Buch kann er schwer sein.
Die Dialoge waren platt und unverständlich (lag's an der Übersetzung?), Mills war ein totaler Choleriker und ziemlich dämlich, alle haben sich konstant angeschrien, und das schlimmste: Das Ende hab ich 50 Seiten eher kommen sehen. Mehr Hinweise und Zaunpfahl-Winke hätte man auch gar nicht einbauen können.
Einziger Lichtblick war Somerset, über den würde ich mir tatsächlich nochmal was durchlesen.

Very captivating. A little shocked by how it ended - feels maybe a bit abrupt, maybe a little senseless? But maybe that’s the point. I enjoyed it overall!!
