Alcoholism - Divorce - Sexual Abuse - Codependency - Domestic Violence - Drug Addiction - Sexual Addiction - Food Addiction - Gambling Addiction These words are about more than 'issues.' They're about people who sit as close to us as the next pew --- or our own. People struggling with problems that sermons or Bible studies alone won't solve. But there is a way the church can help the hurting move beyond their wounds to experience the healing and liberty of Christ. Celebrate Recovery fills a long-standing need in the church in its role as Christ's healing agent. Developed by John Baker and Rick Warren of the renowned Saddleback Church, this program's life-changing effectiveness has gained it an explosive, grass-roots popularity. Drawn from the Beatitudes, Celebrate Recovery helps people resolve painful problems in the context of the church as a whole. Rather than setting up an isolated recovery community, it helps participants and their churches come together and discover new levels of care, acceptance, trust, and grace. Whether your congregation is large or small, this 25-lesson fellowship-based curriculum truly will be a celebration of Christ in the life of your church and its members.
An excellent guide to recovery from addiction, compulsive behavior or whatever persistently opposes your true life, based on the AA 12 steps. The author includes appropriate personal stories told by individuals in the Celebrate Recovery program along with Rick Warren's commentary. I prefer the original language of AA but this program sounds like a winner.
I grew up in a church where I saw CR change lives. After reading this in the context of a biblical counseling class I regret to say I don’t care much for CR. I love the impact, but the way it’s taught in the book has me scratching my head. Scripture was used strangely, examples were odd, and much more. Again, if CR has positively impacted you please don’t read this and think “Wow, Grant sucks.” Rather, go back and read the book knowing my stance.
Used this for a sermon series in my church, focused on the principles and steps as useful in the lives of all people, not just those suffering from addictions. As the program states, we all have hurts, habits, and hang-ups which steal joy from our lives so this program is applicable to all of us. The acrostic way of delivering the points grew a little tiresome, but the structure of the lessons and the scripture references were good.
Great way to ensure meetings are on track. This guide has everything you need to begin a celebrate recovery meetings, right down to the bottom and say you can print out informational sheets and leader ship guidance and check sheets a great investment.
